[ upon kogami's suggestion, akane's taken it upon herself to find a suitable (ha ha) way of celebrating her 23rd birthday! she found the chilling cave by coincidence while patrolling the streets once and decided that she wants to try ice skating.

so after texting the guys (brother, mom, and dad), as well as a couple of friends (really, it's just a couple. she doesn't have much friends) if they're free on the 17th, she waits outside the chilling cave, hoping to meet up with her friends.

[ But he doesn't make an effort to leave, meaning that he's not inconvenienced by the presence of smokers. Instead of accepting a cigarette, he just. Kind of crouches down to start fishing out the rogue packs and start stacking them up to the side so that they don't jam the machine, even if it might be too little too late. ]

What makes you unsure about how long you should stick around?

[ There's a beat here, where he just Looks at Kogami as if to suggest that it should be very obvious why he's unsure about sticking around. ]

Yes - she was my superior back then, but I also considered her a good friend.

How did you and Tsunemori meet?

Same day? This place does seem to follow a certain pattern when it comes to bringing in new people... [ As in, a bunch of people will arrive on the same day, and then nothing until a few weeks later again. Very peculiar. ]

Are you the only one from your world?

Yeah. For better or for worse.

[ He's noticed that there seem to be a group of people who all know each other, and then a dabble of people who haven't had the same 'luck'. But in all honesty, he doesn't mind being the only one from his world— it's one less thing to worry about. So he doesn't look or sound too torn up, and remains, ostensibly, as neutral as ever. ]

There doesn't seem to be any pattern to who gets brought in. You'd think that CERES would have more specific 'recruitment' criteria.

Perhaps it's less to do with our achievements and personalities, but something far deeper that can't be perceived or understood.
