[ upon kogami's suggestion, akane's taken it upon herself to find a suitable (ha ha) way of celebrating her 23rd birthday! she found the chilling cave by coincidence while patrolling the streets once and decided that she wants to try ice skating.

so after texting the guys (brother, mom, and dad), as well as a couple of friends (really, it's just a couple. she doesn't have much friends) if they're free on the 17th, she waits outside the chilling cave, hoping to meet up with her friends.

I used to do this with my friends, [ kaori and yuki, she means. ] but there really hasn't been that much time for recreation.

[ it might be her birthday, but she still wouldn't want to trouble anyone with the things she wants. ]

I suppose as long as it's everyone, I wouldn't mind that.

That reminds me, [ HERE WE GO... ] I heard you got into a disagreement [ understatement. ] with Kogami.

Though it all boils down to the fact that he's still hurt. Gino's been carrying it for this long and he isn't sure how to put it down. In some ways, being angry is all he can think to do. ]

[ Even though he wishes, somewhere, that things hadn't gone that way. That Makishima had never come into the picture. That Sasayama had never been murdered. Maybe that he'd never gone to be an Inspector, hopeful to follow his father's footsteps. To do the same job but not track the same path.

Rewinding time wasn't possible, so he accepts the weight of it and carries on. ]
