[ upon kogami's suggestion, akane's taken it upon herself to find a suitable (ha ha) way of celebrating her 23rd birthday! she found the chilling cave by coincidence while patrolling the streets once and decided that she wants to try ice skating.

so after texting the guys (brother, mom, and dad), as well as a couple of friends (really, it's just a couple. she doesn't have much friends) if they're free on the 17th, she waits outside the chilling cave, hoping to meet up with her friends.

Yeah, no point in benchwarming forever.

I'm gonna head back out there too, of course. I think Akane would feel bad if I wasn't out there careening around and making a fool of myself.

I think so long as you were enjoying yourself, she'd be happy.

That's true-- but she's also the type to worry about everyone else even if she doesn't say anything. If I'm out there having a good time, then so much the better. It's her party thing, I don't want her thinking that it wasn't something everybody could enjoy.

Yeah? I think it's just that I've known her long enough to figure some things out.

Colleagues... Yeah, sure, you could put it that way-- we worked together before the whole "Hey, your world blew up" deal. Here we just get to be friends, though.

[It's especially hard to enjoy yourself at work when you're getting murdered at work but hey, details.]

I mean, there were plenty of times where I had fun at work too, but yeah, I'd take the way it is now over that any day.

Man, just how bad does a world have to be to prefer being here. But whatever, as long as it's not home, I guess it doesn't really matter.
