[ upon kogami's suggestion, akane's taken it upon herself to find a suitable (ha ha) way of celebrating her 23rd birthday! she found the chilling cave by coincidence while patrolling the streets once and decided that she wants to try ice skating.

so after texting the guys (brother, mom, and dad), as well as a couple of friends (really, it's just a couple. she doesn't have much friends) if they're free on the 17th, she waits outside the chilling cave, hoping to meet up with her friends.

it's time… to chill! ]

[ He sighs quietly for a moment, thinking Dad will probably have to talk with Mom at this rate. ]

Listen... I'll try and patch things up. [ Or he'll just roll over and let Ginoza berate him like usual. He can do that much for the group. ] I don't think Gino would want to make you worry today of all days either. You're important to him.

[condoner]

Ah... [ well, that's good, at least, but she hopes that kogami doesn't feel forced to make peace with gino. ] All right.

[ That's pretty funny, Inspector. Though she probably wasn't joking, he'll respond with his own dry humor regardless. ]

Think I should start by asking him for some change?

[condoner]

[ kogami, your sense of humour is just so questionable. akane does nothing but respond with a dry look before she decides to change the topic. ]

Have you gone ice skating before?

[abhors]

[ HEY, it was WITTY on multiple levels!! (Ginoza collects coins) ]

Once, as a kid. Not that I did a whole lot skating that day. [ Try falling. ]

I really only just learned it today. [ Which... isn't hard for someone who does squats regularly. ] What about you?

[condoner]

[ she tries to look cheerful despite the sad memory she's just remembered. ]

It was a long time ago, with Yuki and Kaori.

[abhors]

[ He reads her feelings loud and clear. Well, Yuki was a person he assured that he would protect, so that hits a bad note, too. Still, it's Akane who's on his mind, who's already lost so many people in such a short amount of time compared to his career in the MWPSB. ]

Were they as good as you out there? [ Even as friends are gone, it's good to talk about them, to keep their memory alive. It's only when you stop remembering them that they're truly gone (look at why he took up smoking). He doesn't say any of it, though, trying to keep the conversation casual for her sake. ]

[condoner]

[ akane laughs amiably. ]

No, not at all.

[abhors]

[ She appears to be little better, that's good. Turn those memories into positive ones. ]

It can be tricky to get the hang of it, but I don't doubt that they had fun with you.

It's different, but I am having fun, as well.

[ she looks at the others who are... stumbling on the ice. sasuga. ]
