What: You saw a flyer go out, a nice little promotion declaring that anyone who signed into ViViD today at a specific time would be awarded 500 credits. You thought that sounded nice, so you decided to log in for a quick game, thinking it would be no big deal. You absolutely did not get what you bargained for.

//CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT?

You've seen the flyer. Or maybe you haven't. Whatever your reasons may be, you've decided to log onto ViViD today at around 6 PM. At first, all seems normal as the game loads, and you prepare to start on what should be an average adventure. Maybe you'll do a little fighting, or some exploring, or even a little platforming. Either way, there shouldn't be anything unusual about this. Right? You couldn't have been more wrong. The moment you log in, something goes strange. The game glitches around you, whatever world that started to load seizing up and freezing with static, warping with strange colors. And then a different setting loads smoothly like nothing ever happened. The first thing you notice is that it's sprawling and beautiful, if not a little ostentatious. Should your curiosity draw you from the courtyard you've arrived in through the great double doors, you'll arrive in... ... a ballroom. Welcome to prom.

PHASE I [ 600 ] There are tables scattered around the periphery of the room, and a DJ, somewhat out of place in this beautiful setting, is stationed at the back, spinning out tunes to help you get settled into the start of the night. On the scattered tables are... punch bowls? They look tantalizing, and they come in quite a rainbow of colors. Should you be brave enough to take a sip, you'll find interesting things will happen. Drink the red punch, and you'll end up in rococo fashion. Drink the pale champagne-colored punch, and you'll find yourself sporting elegant regency attire. How about that cool blue punch? You'll step right into the roaring 20's. What about that dayglo orange punch over there? How about some far out 80's, man? That futuristic purple punch will suit you up in Tron style. And then there's one last punch bowl on a lonely table in the corner. No one can quite identify that color. Is that ... brown? Brave this punch bowl and you'll be, uh ... richly rewarded with modern-day fashions. Will you step up and test these refreshments, for science? Or will you be the first onto the dance floor, or to make an insane request of the DJ? Last but not least, certain Cerealians who glitch into the level may find they have a specific corsage attached that they cannot remove! If they stick around long enough, they'll find one other lucky soul with a matching corsage. This is your ViViD assigned date! No one is going to force you two to dance... but you might find that the longer you put off dancing, the tighter that corsage gets around your wrist, or the more it begins to prick your chest, depending on its location. Might want to rethink your position... Whether out of curiosity or you've resigned yourself to the strange festivities, you're in. Maybe you've been wallflowering it up for a while, even with the cool kickin music playing. Whatever the case may be, the DJ announces themselves (DJ Slim Shaydee, not to be confused with that knock off from Earth). You're welcomed in an enthusiastic manner. Also hey, if you're near a table, see those cute placards? Yeah the ones in the center pieces mixed in with the bowl of candy and flowers. You'll notice they have a neatly typed out list— DJ Slim Shaydee says whoever fulfills the criteria on the list will be crowned Prom Royalty. Who doesn't want that??? Successfully complete a slow dance Do the cha cha slide OR do the electric slide without messing up the turn Make out in the rose garden out back Have a dramatic fight with a close friend and storm out (you may come back after) Comfort a crying friend in the bathroom If you're a minor, accidentally get drunk Successfully spike every punch bowl within a 20 minute time limit Confess romantic feelings to the object of your affections To truly kick it off or maybe give those ambitious types a head start, DJ Slim is gonna play you (yes all of you) a group dance! Hope you know the moves to the Cha Cha Slide. If not, don't worry, the song will tell you every step. Oh and one more thing — anyone who fulfills an item on the list will get a confetti surprise. What does this mean? It means a golden, multi-faceted little ball will spontaneously appear over your head out of nowhere soon after you fulfill a condition, hovering for a moment before it explodes into a shower of confetti. Enjoy! PHASE III [ 900 ] Whew. All these fast paced songs sure have you tired out, right? Maybe take a sip from the many punch bowls around the room if you haven't tested them out yet. Or try your hand at fulfilling another portion of that list from earlier—by spiking the punch. Better work fast though, the bowls themselves refresh fairly quickly once they sense contamination. See how many you can get in one go! Or if you're not a dirty prankster, see how many people you can catch spiking those dang bowls. While you're doing that, the DJ seems to want to wind down the energy in the room. That means, you guessed it: time for that coveted slow dance. As the first chords of the song play, the doors to the garden veranda and hedge maze open. How romantic. PHASE IV [ 1000 ] It's the end of the night, and maybe you've been trying your best to satisfy all those win conditions. Or maybe you haven't! Either way, it's clear from the mood in the air that the time is drawing near for the announcement of the Prom Royalty. The DJ brings the lights low, and spotlights hit his stand. He brings a mic to his mouth, and announces grimly that there will be no Prom Royalty. Apparently, no one satisfied enough of the win conditions! How can that be? Surely someone tried! Well, whatever happened, the DJ isn't happy, and the lights in the room will come back up. The DJ will mess with some of the equipment at his station, and all across the room, small panels will open up near the ceiling. Pouring out will come ... balloons? And not just any balloons - they're water balloons, and not only are they somehow floating, they're coming straight for you. How are they flying? We just don't know. If they come in contact with you, they'll frizz your perfect prom hair. Worse, if you apply even the mildest force to them, they'll immediately pop and drench you in freezing cold water, leaving you drenched. The ballroom quickly fills with these angry little balloons, threatening to flood the room completely if too many of them pop. Will you flee and save yourself? Try to save your friends? Try to reason with the DJ and stop the balloon menace? No matter what you do, you'd better work fast. The floor is already getting dangerously wet... BONUS [ hour ??? ] Remember that garden maze? From a certain point of the evening on, prom guests have been free to wander through as they please. They're beautiful, a rose maze by day that looks even more breathtaking at night with fairy lights glittering and winking in between all the flowers and leaves. Maybe you wandered out there to get away from the craziness in the party. Perhaps you want to be a true wallflower. But should you explore this maze with another at your side, you'll find it a pleasant enough trip, and if you manage to make it all the way to the center of the maze, you'll discover a secluded little gazebo that seems like it was placed there just for you. Go in alone, though, and the maze seems like a completely different place. The fairy lights will be dimmer, less pleasant. You'll hear a rustling too loud to just be the wind. What was that sound? Turn around, and nothing is there. Too late you'll realize that the maze itself is alive, and has been watching you this entire time. It doesn't like lone wanderers. Better run fast or find a way to get out of the plant's clutches before you really become veggie. However, if you get caught, you'll be trapped by the sentient vines that shoot out from the walls and bound to the side of the maze until another lone explorer finds you. At this point the vines will reach out and snap up that unlucky soul, too, wrapping you both up in a not-so-tender embrace. You'll both be stuck there until you can do whatever it is the maze wants that will convince it to set you free. What is that? Well, it does seem to be fond of lovers... and public displays of affection.

[He doesn't often attend events like these, if at all. Saiduq's prone to disappearing without a word on the worst of days, and a bit of a wallflower on the best of days. (Aside from the times when he needs to do something showy.) Nevertheless, he's apparently attending anyway (thanks Hiro) and even ingested some punch out of curiosity (and even if it were poisoned, it probably wouldn't affect him much anyway), which dressed him up in this somewhat fancy number. He turns toward the nearest unoccupied person to address them, possibly even suddenly appearing in places that he definitely wasn't before.]

I was under the impression that one required a "date" to fully partake in these sorts of gatherings...do you have a date?

[He's just curious, okay...his view of human customs may be a little bit skewed. A teensy bit.]

[Unsurprisingly, aliens are not the best people to attempt dancing. Nevertheless, Saiduq tries to make a Valiant Effort (tm) in learning the customs of this strange social gathering, and that means partaking in this...dance...and following the instructions as the Cha-Cha slide dictates.

Upon closer inspection however, he's not actually touching the ground with his feet at all (aside from the times that he's called to stomp on the ground), hovering a few inches above it instead. He's also keeping his head down, focusing on his feet instead, which means he might bump into another character. When he does, he looks up at them and presses his fingers to his mouth.]

Ah...excuse me. Walking on the ground can be a difficult task.

[He's already tried the purple and the blue punch, and it's for that reason that Hiro decides he may as well go for broke and try the last in his color scheme. So, when he approaches Saiduq he's holding a half-empty cup of red punch and also stuck in something fancier than usual. (Thank god they skipped a matching wig.) He stands next to the alien for a minute, tilting his head as he observes the scene in front of them. If Saiduq's floating…well, he's just grown used to the guy being weird.]

Remember when you asked me about hobbies? I think I kinda forgot to mention stuff like this.

Ah, not really! I had no idea an event like this was even going on today so you could say I came unprepared.

This is the path he has chosen. Well, he'll be approaching him despite that hot feeling of second-hand embarrassment. He had to wonder if there would come a time where he'd forget to walk if he was a being like Saiduq now.]

Um... Maybe you should just stick with Moonwalking. That seems to be your natural style.

Phase I

[While many others may be upset, Alice was actually giddy. It was a party! She'd never been to an adult party before! And not only was she at a party, but after she had some punch, the punch did it's best to put Alice in a Rococo style dress for the seven year old. She was too tiny for the amount of ruffles and frills but ViViD did not disappoint her. She felt like a princess in the dress and was twirling around in it with glee.

She was positively bouncing like a bunny. Oh but, she didn't know what one did at a "prom." She'd never been to one before! She looked around for someone older and lightly tugged on their hand.]

Ah, excuse me. [She curtsied when she got their full attention.] Do you know what we're supposed to be doing? I mean, I've not ever been to a prom before.


Phase II

[Alice wanted to dance. She knew the Virgina Wheel and a little bit of how to waltz and she most certainly wanted to do so. Maybe she could ask "Mr. DJ" to play one of the songs from Wonderland, if he could. She was sure everyone would love the Lobster Quadrille.. though she'd have to get them lobsters.]

I wonder if we can get enough lobsters for everyone! [She said to herself as she looked about. She paused to the person nearby.]

Do you know if there are any lobsters here? You can't have the Lobster Quadrille without them, after all.

Phase I

[Of course the first thing Takeru does after being released is to go straight to the ViViD. After spending most of the week indoors, there was only so much he could take! And now with a party going on? There was no way he was going to miss this!

Now that he was wearing a totally gnarly bright green jacket, he and Patamon were just having the time of their lives! As they continued to dance around, that's when he heard someone]

Hey, Alice-san, I didn't know you were here! But I think what you're suppose to do is dance at at a prom right? At least, that's what it looks like a lot of other people are doing!

[ Going into ViViD hasn’t been one of Xion’s favorite things. The levels are often strange, to the point of being off-putting. Even so, it’s the closest she can get to her old missions, an odd sense of comfort in this new place, so she decides to take up the flyer that offers free credits in exchange for doing a level.

Landing in the party is a pretty mystifying experience. Xion ends up exploring it with wide eyed curiosity, not really sure what to expect, though she has enough presence of mind to put away her Keyblade once she’s inside the doors. Doesn’t seem like there will be anything to fight here, after all.

The first punch bowl that catches her attention is the orange one. It looks tasty! And she ends up making a noise of surprise and jumping, almost spilling it, when she looks down at herself and finds herself dressed in this. Heels included, which she can barely balance in. She puts the punch down very carefully and stands straight, and tries to take a few steps—

—before stumbling and falling with a squeak. Right into you. ]

Sorry!!

[ phase ii ]

[ Xion’s still in the same outfit, but now she’s barefoot. It’s fine, probably. She doesn’t want to try the other punches right now, just in case they’re worse.

Instead she’s got a placard in hand, head tilted as she reads through it. ]

Do the cha cha slide… make out?

[ A beat. ]

What does that mean?

[ She knows what kissing is by now - thanks, shoujo manga! - but this particular terminology is unfamiliar to her. ]

[ phase iii ]

[ Finally, Xion works up the courage to try a different punch bowl, and she ends up in an outfit that’s much more comfortable (though her top is quite a bit more conservative). Now wearing themed flats and back in pats, Xion seems much more at home in her own skin, though still slightly out of sorts in general due to being, you know, at a dance.

After all, she doesn’t know how to dance.

She’ll be wallflowering it up. It was easy enough to dance when the faster songs were happening, she could kind of just mimic what other people were doing, but slow songs are harder. Eventually, she starts to wander towards the doors instead, curiosity leading her back outside. If someone’s with her: ]

[This early in the night and people are already stumbling around, gosh--

Kashuu catches Xion with some surprisingly sturdy reflexes despite being on some impressive heels himself, since he's a cheating punk who moves as naturally in heeled shoes as most people do with bare feet.]

It's fine, it's fine! [His reflexive response before he actually looks down to see who it is he's bumped into, and-- ah! He recognizes this person! ...It just takes him a second, since all that neon is a bit distracting.]

Oh—! Xion, right? That's a pretty colorful outfit.

PHASE II

[ It's not like he needed the extra credits but curiosity got the best of him, as it usually does, and thus...Mikazuki logged in and found himself at prom. He's hardly the wallflower type so he's been out and about, socializing with who he recognizes and even those he doesn't. He's talked so much that you'd think he'd need a drink but the punch is avoided for now, it's probably perfectly fine to be wearing silk Heian era clothing to a dance, right?

Unfortunately, the cha cha slide will be a little forgotten by Mikazuki as he's become much more interested in this prom king and queen list. So much that he's reading some it aloud, if only to himself. ] Make out in the rose garden out back? Ah, what is..."making out" and more importantly, there's a rose garden? [ There's that thousands of years old mentality of his kicking in. ]

Have a dramatic fight with a close friend... [ He recognizes all of these words but his definition of fighting is not just having a heated argument and since he doesn't want to cause any trouble -- Mikazuki is quick to (abruptly) grab the arm of whoever was passing behind him just now for their attention. Not even looking up from the list, he'll ask a simple question. ] In your own opinion, would you say this space would even allow for a sword fight? [ Because OF COURSE he brought his vessel, it's sitting right there on his hip. ]

PHASE IV

[ By this point, Mikazuki is starting to wonder if CERES just wants him to be perpetually soaked. First the jungle, then the mountains, and now THIS. While he had the ability to dodge it -- he hadn't expected it. Then again, who could have seen that coming??? Mikazuki is sighing, trying to get the wet hair out of his face before he looks down at the rapidly flooding room. ] Hm...

This doesn't appear to be boding well. [ Surprisingly a calm response but he's truthfully more worried about the idea of his vessel rusting in the water than his physical body drowning. #swordproblems ] Excuse me, if you happen to notice my body starting to drown, could you take this and bring it to the surface? [ By "this" he means his sword, patting the sheathed blade at this side for indication of his very reasonable request.

It's a good thing he doesn't look a smidge worried, the waters already hitting his knees and all he has to say is: ] Ah, it's too bad I don't know how to swim.

BONUS

[ The garden maze was a sight to behold surely. Mikazuki finds himself staring at it rather than going inside but it almost looks as if he's waiting for someone? This is only cemented by the fact that after about ten minutes of waiting, he starts looking around in expectancy but unfortunately, that's not it at all. He was just waiting to see who else was going to show up to undertake the challenge that a garden maze presents!

BUT SINCE NO ONE IS HERE...going at it alone is obviously the best plan. ] I suppose I should attempt to forage on my own. Aha, how interesting...

[ This goes about well as you could expect. The maze is as interesting as he expected and while he didn't think it would try to eat him alive, so to speak, it's all in good fun for Mikazuki. He does pretty well at evading being caught for a good while though eventually he does get quite fatigued and then snatched right up by those very vines he had been cutting down a moment ago. A shame really that all he can do is wait for someone else to come along and find this national treasure of a sword halfway buried by thorns and leaves. ]

[ Another sword he hadn't met yet. Excellent! Except he was also in the running for Prom Royalty, so Rinne's not really thrilled to hear that he's trying to figure this stuff out. And, a dramatic fight... ]

Wait, wait no, they don't actually mean a physical fight... [ Don't get thrown out, Mikazuki. ]

[That promise of 500 credits was enough to get Angelo into the ViViD, but when he enters it's a completely different story. The atmosphere was one he'd become very familiar with prior to coming to Cerealia, though his wanders are halted when he sees the punch table. Of course he was going to try every punch there eventually, but for now he simply looks over each figuring out which one he should drink.]

Huh. I wonder which one I should try first...

[He eventually decides on the champagne-colored punch and his clothes change into this before looking at himself. He then turns to find the nearest person.]

So this prom is much like other parties, correct? We just all either stand around and talk while drinking or dance until our feet get sore.

[Looking over the list, he was more than confident he could do almost everything on it. He would even be determined enough to find anyone who'd help him fill out said list.]

Hey you, how about you help me with one of the tasks on the list?

[It wasn't a good party until the spike was punched or so he thought. So that's what he's going to attempt in doing. If anyone wants to stop him from being a dirt prankster, feel free.]

You're totally asking the wrong person, dude. [Flouncing around in his newly acquired outfit isn't too bad now that he's grown used to it. He's eyeing the rest of the punch warily, not sure he wants to change again. (He misses his helmet okay, it's important.) But Angelo's a familiar face so it doesn't hurt to speak with him.] But I think that's how it's supposed to go. Sort of a different change of pace from the last couple of weeks, huh?

Phase 1
[William had decided to log into ViViD for the credits, because one always needed more money, even if it came with some rather sketchy strings attached, because one could never trust these people. And he wasn't disappointed when he found himself in a ballroom of things. A dance? How stupid. What was the point when no one here had any worthwhile connections to offer him?

But he was here and so after a bit of deliberation, made his way to the buffet tables and started to eat, because he seldom turned down free food. And when he sees the champagne bowl, he has to have some. And well, he suddenly looks like something out of Pride and Prejudice. He blinks for a moment.]

...this looks like something my grandfather would have worn.

[How stodgy. This is gonna be a long night.]

Phase III

[He really doesn't want to dance, because he's not too familiar with the more modern styles, so William's been dodging out of the way. But well, he's also probably managed to have a few drinks, entirely by accident, so when he bumps into you, or if you offer to him, he won't mind at all.]

[Bonus]

[Yeah he's finally managed to make his escape from that place of dreaded, awkward social activity. Making a bunch of teenagers attend a dance together? What a stupid concept. In some ways the modern era really is a depraved place. Of course now he's somehow found his way into the creepy hedge maze and it's just getting worse and worse. So... this is when the monsters typical to this unwanted ViViD adventures show up, huh. When he hears the footsteps behind him, William quickly turns and then his shoulders drop in relief.]

You know, you shouldn't sneak up on someone like that in this situation. It's rather rude.

Bonus! Because Kaz is a stalker creep

[Kazuya had spent the majority of the night dodging and ducking the worst of the social interaction (that being the dreaded dancing, he may be light on his feet in a fight, but when it came to an actual dance, he was a menace to toes everywhere). Truthfully, he spent most of it fondly watching the antics of everyone else - and keeping an eye on his close CR (and yup, William, that includes you!).

So when the gardens had been opened up, Kaz took the chance to take a breather - and spotted William wandering off in there by himself. And, you know, ambling off into a maze by yourself in a place like Cerealia? Who knows what could happen! Thank goodness Kazuya decided to tail him!

And when the maze got creepier and creepier... well, Kazuya decided that maybe taking a more direct approach to watching William was required. Easier to help the guy if things turned sour if he was standing right next to him, right? So he made sure to stomp a little bit and- yup. Spotted]

Aw, busted... [Kazuya feigned sheepishness as he slipped out from a dark patch of shadows, grinning slightly at William] You ruined it, future husband! I was gonna jump out and sca- um, say hello. So, how're you finding the creepy maze? You lost yet?

[Because he sure was - watching William more than where he was going, it seemed]

[ Klavier really isn't a man for prom but he took a sip of that purple punch (it is his favourite colour after all) and he found himself dressed in a slick leather number that accentuated that rock star body of his. No matter ladies (and gentlemen), feel free to stare. At least he was covered up, which was more than he could say the first time he arrived in ViViD. ]

Hier spielt die Musik...

[ It looked like a happening party. He has no date tonight, but why would he need one when he's out to steal everyone elses? ]

[ Just outside, in the garden, was Klavier strumming his in game weapon, a guitar sword of epic proportions. He's hoping to get all you lovely girls and guys in the mood and he's doing that by performing a particular song. ]

[ And he'll just continue playing Justin Timberlake the entire night, because why not? Feel free to catch him in between playing songs, while he's getting a drink or if you're a pretty one, he'll flirt with you. ]

[Kaoru had just tried another punch, this one leaving her in a short dress that lit up. She had a brief moment to wonder if they were about to be sued by D*sney for copyright infringement when someone spoke to her.

Kaoru cocked her head, the bright, fire engine red hair on her head and her equally red eyes the only spots of colour on her after this most recent wardrobe change.]

Wow. What are you supposed to be?

[That's not a 'no' even if she looking you up and down with a faint, amused smile pulling at the corner of her mouth.]

Phase I + II

This is the stupidest thing I think I've ever wound up in.

[ Stupid, because what's the point of a prom in ViViD? The first time she showed up in Cerealia there was a ball, so it's a little nostalgic, but not any less annoying. Mostly... because she had no time to prepare. And a girl like Nonon takes preparation seriously. She's the type to spend hours and hours putting on makeup, changing outfits ten times, and getting her hair just right, and that's only to go to work.

Luckily, she's already pretty much dressed for the occasion. She hardly ever logs into ViViD without wearing her Goku Uniform, a black and gold marching band conductor's uniform complete with tassels and high heeled boots. While it might not be a true prom dress, she doesn't look all that out of place either.

Nonon's cautious though. Because ViViD has taught her to be cautious. Those punch bowls? She wants nothing to do with them. It's not real food, so why bother? However, she can't help but be interested in winning the title of Prom Queen.. because she already thinks of herself as royalty anyway.

...Which means anyone who's near her can expect nonon to be attempting to fulfill the conditions with zero regret. That means going up to people to start fights, finding her girlfriend to drag her off to makeout with, ask girls to dance, or just searching around for alcohol to spike the punch bowls with. Honestly, this kind thing comes all too easily to her...

Like how she manages to fulfill another condition, and a ball of confetti opens up right over her head, grinning smugly as she does. ]

It's only natural for the conductor to lead the charge, don't you think?

Phase IV

[ By the end of the night, after she's found out she failed to win Prom Queen (and screaming out the DJ for being a cheater) things seem to take a turn for the worse. In that a giant water balloon ends up popping right above her head, a departure from the confetti a short time ago.

...And leaves Nonon soaked looking like an angry cat, shivering and grinding her teeth. ]

I was wrong before, this is the stupidest thing I've ever seen in my life!!

[Freddie had logged on in the hopes of doing some training today, finally getting the courage to try it on his own. Instead, he gets swept into the prom. He doesn't look very amused as he wanders around, but he can't deny it's a beautiful place. He even goes so far as to try some punch, ending up in some early 20s fashion. He'll be looking for anyone to talk to who seems to have any idea of what's going on.]

So there was just a mandatory ball scheduled, and no one told us? I kinda wanted to do some training today...

[Freddie looks over the placards, pondering it, while now rocking the Miami Vice look. At least there was something to do here, right? Too bad he's not really able to get this done.]

I don't know what the cha-cha slide or electric slide are. Dances, I'm guessing? The punches are already spiked. And I don't have any friends to have an argument with, nor am I just gonna make out with some random girl, so uh, I guess I'm out of luck.

Clad in his usual traditionally styled clothes, with his hair piled high in a messy ponytail atop his head, he looked incredibly out of place amidst the Western-styled fashions that were prevalent within the simulated ballroom.]

[Sure, this wasn't what she was expecting at all, but Lapis doesn't mind - she loves parties! So she's in a pretty good mood, even if she got stuck in a kind of frilly number thanks to some punch she drank. She'll need to remember to avoid that... At least the outfit could be a lot worse, based on what she's seen.

But anyway! Right now she wants to focus on more fun things, like dancing! And dancing is always more fun with someone else, so she'll be approaching anyone, both strangers and people she knows, smiling softly as she gets close enough to speak to them.]

[In her defense, the rosemaze had looked harmless when she had walked and she couldn't resist how pretty it looked either. Even though it looked less pretty as she walked further in, so she should've expected this.

And while usually her ghost buddy can easily burn away the vines, they just kept coming, and Lapis can only sigh in annoyance as she's snatched up. Trying to worm her way out of the vines only to pause when she hears someone approach, quick to call out when she hears them coming closer. At least she sounds fairly calm about all this.]

[So that's the big surprise. It's... a prom. That seems relieving compared to the other surprises ViViD could have in store, yet still somewhat terrifying. He had mostly wallflowered at his own high school prom, but he figures he should probably put some sort of effort into winning whatever this game is.

He does check out the punch table and he gravitates towards what seems to be the grape punch first... only to end up wearing a very unusual costume. He looks almost mortified for a moment.

Well... This has been the most convincing reason for me to cut down on the grape juice.

So he tries for a different drink, and he ends up wearing the number on the far right. He seems relatively comfortable with this one at least.

Now this is a punch I can roll with!

Afterwards, one can find him tentatively preparing to enter the dance floor or looking over the list of tasks with a very skeptical eye.]

Why?!

[Suddenly, water balloons everywhere. Phoenix is like a sitting duck. It's like he gets hit by several every time he takes a step. In a frantic rush, he tries to make his way towards an overturned table to us as a hiding place.]

Then he encounters Phoenix; he personally wouldn't have picked that out for his friend. Edgeworth doesn't even think Phoenix would show up to ViViD or anywhere wearing an outfit like that. He raises his eyebrows and just...well, his jaw certainly drops before he can pick that up off the floor.]

Did you...enter ViViD in that outfit, Wright? [That doesn't look like comfortable gaming attire.

[Mikleo's going to just chill over on the outskirts of the dance floor after arriving here with Sorey. He's also going to avoid those punch bowls. After the fish incident in his first ViViD level, he just doesn't trust the food and drinks in this damn game.

Besides, he looks dressy enough. Right?

Also, what the hell is a prom??? Mikleo gets it's a dance party, but it's definitely not...what he expects. Though, he's not exactly sure what he expected in the first place, other than not this. Someone get this guy to dance or talk to someone, Five Lords above.]

[Well, Mikleo thought he'd go outside to get some fresh air. He can deal with any cold temperature, but the hotter temperatures tend to wear him out pretty fast. The woes of being a water seraph and not a fire seraph.

Unfortunately, he's going into the rose maze alone. The maze doesn't like this one bit, which the water seraph will soon find out. For now, he's suspicious of all the noises around him and how...less pleasant the fairy lights seem to be right now. By the time Mikleo decides to leave, it's too late. The vines lash out and ensnare him before he can even take out his staff. He struggles against them, but they're tight and unwilling to let him go.]

[Minako's taking a little time to herself to explore more of the area, letting Rei mingle with her friends. the blonde kind of wants to be Prom Royalty, okay? so she's going through the list, seeing which things she can do. a lot of the options, Minako thinks, will be easy, because she can do them with Rei. yeah, buddy! but what about spiking all the punch bowls? that might be a little difficult.

hey, you know who is good at solving difficult problems? Ami-chan! and while Minako knows Ami certainly will not help her spike a bowl of punch, she could at least calculate how much time Minako needs in order to make it to every station. yeah, Minako could phrase this as a hypothetical problem. then she'd get the information she needs.

[ Of course Inaba, being the one who gets the most suspicious whenever a fishy flyer about credits and ViViD comes up, she's tempted to not go. To just not log in at all. Money plus ViViD? Come on, that has to be a trap, it's only obvious. And yet she willingly walks into the trap without any reservation.

She has her reasons for it, naturally. That being said, however, this... doesn't seem to be an unpleasant surprise? Being Japanese, prom wasn't exactly a thing back home, so she's not exactly familiar with the term. Well, whatever.

It isn't completely bad until she finds herself not only drinking a punch, finding herself not in a dress, but instead, a suit instead. Well, that's not necessarily bad - in fact, it's probably the tamest thing that's ever happened to her in a ViViD level, and that much she's pleased about. Just as long as her mind doesn't get fucked around again, she might be doing... decently enough.

[ He's not normally one to delve into Vivid very often. He doesn't like the uncertainty of the place and rightfully so, given what's happened within it. But if it's for extra money that could aid Haru and the swordhaus he is more likely to partake in whatever mayhem might befall those who try.

So he'll happen upon the prom with no real urges of his own. He's out of place with his priest robes, as usual, but he'll eye the punch bowls curiously. He's never seen or tasted this type of drink before, please save him before he goes for the blue one. It matches his hair, okay? It totally can't be that bad. Kousetsu no. ]

[ He certainly remembers that maze from before. His eyes narrow as he comes upon it, hand resting on the hilt of his blade. He doesn't like this one bit. ]

1. Spike up your life - or was it spice? Same difference.

[If we're having a classic silly teenager party, it means we need classic silly pranks too. Hell, the list asks for it! There are minors around, though, so Jack finds his own way to spike the punch: condiments. A bit of salt over here, some pepper over there. And he's quick at it, too, flying around the room an making the wind ruin everyone's hair (not sorry).

The confetti ball is getting a little annoying though. The first time is cute, the second ok, the third gets on his nerves. Swoosh, ice for the little ball.]

How am I supposed to be sneaky if you keep popping up every two seconds?

[He complains then but you'll see the golden ball appear again and again above him. Yeah, not even some confetti or self-refilling bowls will stop him. Enjoy the punch, he'll point and laugh at you for sure.]

2. You can fly if you'd only cut loose, footloose

[You know who likes music? Jack. You know who is a very good singer and dancer he just doesn't show it often? Also Jack.

Parties feed his center like woah, so he enjoys watching them, but he's never truly been part of them. Even if people can see him here, he feels a bit out of place. (And a dancing crowd with all that touching and bumping is a bit intimidating, just saying.) This music though... not even he can ignore the music. It's catchy, it's fun, and lots of the costumes remind him of old times. (The 80s, oh man, he loved the 80s.)

So before he notices, he's moving his body to the rhythm while walking on the walls or the ceiling, maybe on top of the speakers too. And boy, he has the moves. He's quick on his feet and smooth like the wind. But what he really needs? It's a partner. Maybe you want to ask him, or maybe he bumps into you in a sudden whirl, but hey, better take advantage of this rare sight.]

3. Who needs a food fight when you have WATER BALLOONS

[THAT'S RIGHT, MOTHERFUCKERS, YOU ARE ALL NOW BEING AIMED AT. There's not escape. Jack will throw them at you, make them pop with the tip of his staff, hit them with its crook as if it was baseball when they fall. The more you fight it, the more Jack will chase you. No grumps in this party, only fun.

Any water getting frozen and the floor getting slippery is an honest mistake. No, really.]

Phase I - Be Very Very Quiet (Courtyard)

[After spending some time in the ballroom, Hiro had decided to actually take a moment and step out to explore the courtyard for a bit. He'd totally go back into the ballroom to party his ass off, but it never hurt to appreciate more of the quieter things in life. And at the same time, he couldn't help and hunt for anything that looked wrong. When ViViD wasn't trying to kill everyone, Hiro found it one of the best things in Cerealia. Though the more suspicious side of him was just waiting for a demon to pop around the corner to eat his face off or a bizarre looking alien ice cream cone to land in the middle of the courtyard and burn some people to a crisp.

Memories of the trials. Good times, good times.

So what he was a little paranoid and restless after going through two alien apocalypses and some Cerealia-related trauma here? If he found a problem and nipped it in the bud, then everyone would be safe... Right?]

So far, so good! Nothing's going to rain on this parade.

[Feel free to find a troll bunny creeping through some corners in the courtyard or just chilling by the stairwell. It was as if he was waiting for something huge to happen. "Just five more minutes", he told himself. Then he'd go back into the ballroom to play around for a bit.]

Phase II - You Got Sniped By a Wabbit

H~eeh... The DJ is really going all in for this one! That's almost every prom cliche in the book. ♪

[Well then, he had to clear some of those conditions! And there was always going to be that one asshole who was going to cause a little trouble at prom. But for Hiro, this was just mostly harmless fun. If people couldn't take a joke, then it was their own fault. So taking his flyer and folding it up into a paper football, Hiro adjusts his hands accordingly and flicks it across the ballroom.]

Go, my child. You're a baby bird who's flown out of the nest.

[He was going to let fate decide who would be his dance partner (or what he chooses depending on the goals requirements) would be through the guidance of his mini-triangulum paper child. If it hits you in the back of the head or anywhere else, then consider yourself (un)lucky. He'll either play dumb or be horribly direct depending on who it is.]

[Want to know the best part about mazes? There was horrors creeping around the corner. And Hiro was not being below becoming Nightmare Fuel incarnate for his friends and allies even when shit had gone down. So it doesn't matter who it is, but he'll be quietly following them and stalking them through the area. But eventually, you'll be greeted with a very loud-]

Apparently that answer is no.

Still, he finds himself poking around the ballroom, not used to overt display of grandeur. And of course, if anything goes awry like many things can in this place, he might be able to do something about it. So he sticks around, avoiding the weird brown (???) punch bowl but finally pouring himself a cup of the red colored one. It's a mistake. He didn't ask for this outfit.

Moderately weirded out, he glances around the room and sees other people changing into different clothes. Ok, different punch bowl this time. This time he goes for blue, since that also looks normal. His outfit is less...rich old people this time, at least. And judging from the looks of others, this is probably the safest bet. Still, the dress shoes are kind of awkward to get used to. Too many years spent in utilitarian boots.

Seeing someone else approach the Multi Colored Punch Bowls of Possible Mistakes, Trowa gently warns them away. ]

[ PHASE 03 ]

[ Trowa, by nature, is not a party type. At all. This isn't really his scene. He's starting to think he should've logged out a while ago, right after the DJ announced the nonsense about Prom Royalty. At least the music has slowed down enough to be less headache inducing. Getting up from his seat at a table near the corner, he heads for the now-open garden doors. Being outside with less of a crowd sounds incredibly inviting.

Unfortunately, his way is somewhat blocked by the larger amount of attendees on the dance floor. Not even his agile acrobat skills can stop him from accidentally bumping into someone. ]

[ PHASE 04 ]

[ The outrage over no Prom Royalty being crowned can be heard probably outside of the game itself. What kind of stupidity is this? Don't introduce rules if they won't even be followed!!

Of course, Trowa has no horse in this race, so he's perfectly unaffected by the turn of events. At least, until the balloons show up. Too many of them. Moving fast, he narrowly avoids a good number of them before one appears right over his head and pops when it connects.

Well, if anyone was curious what he looked like without the ridiculous hair swoop, here's your chance.

Annoyed, he shoves another imminent threat out of the way, which may or may not pop on someone else. Oops. ]

[So Quatre may not have expected a party when he signed into ViViD for the bonus points, but if this is what he's wandered into, it's a great less unsettling than many previous levels have been, so he's not complaining about it by any stretch of the imagination. Even when he winds up making the mistake of the orange punch (why? why so much color?), he finds himself a more appealing blue drink to even things out. He's comfortable enough in suits, after all. And it's not his first time in a ballroom. So he looks quite at home as he wanders through the crowd.

Even the music is nice.

He'll admit to being distracted, which is why an apology is quick to spring to his lips as he finds himself in a minor collision. But even before he voices the word fully, he recognizes the familiar voice speaking its own apology, and glances up with a surprise but undeniably pleased smile.] Trowa. I didn't think I'd see you here.

[But now that he has, give him just a moment to do some quality seeing, because Trowa Barton cleans up nicely.] It's really something, isn't it?

[He's totally going to ask you to dance. Just wait.]

[This was not his idea of a good time. Metal and water certainly do not mix, and his clothes were not meant for swimming either.

Ishikirimaru cuts away at whatever balloons are within reach, but the weight of the water makes his movements slower than before.

If there was a way he could wade out of this mess... Towards the maze? Or should he cut down the DJ?]

[Entering alone seemed like a bad idea. The moment he stepped him there was something about the vines that drew his suspicion. Their spirit did not seem to approve of something about him.

He keeps his hands on his blade just in case, as the lights dim.]
