Two Nerds Go to the Movies [Closed]
Who: Ami Mizuno
allergictoloveletters and Tadashi Hamada
bropane
Where: Around the Entertainment District
What: The nerds are going on their first date
When: Early evening
Rating/Warning: PG (at most, considering these two)
'Try not to stress.' Easier said than done but Ami had never been on a date before. She had done her research with books and even dabbled into magazines, as she didn't want to make a fool of herself, but she was trying as hard as she could to essentially not stress about this. It was just a movie and dinner... she could do this. She had faced those who were the embodiment of chaos and energy-sucking monsters who wanted to kill her and others. She had been kidnapped and faced her own death and the death of loved ones all with ice cold confidence and calm.
So why was she still pink in the face?
"Deep breath," she told herself as she waited in her apartment.
She didn't want to pace, but she didn't want to sit still. She kept looking at the her watch and took a deep breath as all the information was in her head. She just didn't want to mess this up.
She couldn't help the mild panic, however, at the knock on the door. She swallowed and hesitated only for a few moments before answering.

He's hardly even dressed, and looks completely normal with his get-up. A shirt underneath his blue-grey cardigan, and a jacket suit to top it all off. And then there's his brown denims, and his dumb green sneakers. This is clearly the perfect outfit for a date. The only thing different from what he has on him is that he's also got flowers in his hand. This is still nothing new to the two of them. Though perhaps the red tint of the flowers may be different.
At the door being opened, he presented the flowers with a loud "Ta-dah!" as the blooms covered his face. There's a lot of the flowers... Tadashi, why. He doesn't seem all that embarrassed with his presentation, though.
What would embarrass him is if Rei or Minako had opened the door instead of Ami.

Ami had prepared for this in that she prepares for everything, if she can. However, with tips from Minako she wasn't too dressed up either. She was in one of her softer-colored dresses, but not in anything fancy. She blinked at the sudden bouquet in front of her and took it so that she could see Tadashi's face. She couldn't help the chuckle that escaped.
"Well, thank you." Just don't stress, just don't stress... and pray to every known god and deity of choice that Tadashi hadn't written her a love letter. Even at this point in her life, those things still gave her a rash. Then again, this was not love. This was strong like, but even Ami wouldn't label it as "love." Strong physical attraction, stronger mental attraction, and an ever growing emotional connection, but definitely not "love." She suspected Tadashi shared that opinion, or at least partially shared it.
"Please come in, I'll just put these in water and then we can go."
no subject
He grinned when Ami took the flowers; a rather cheesy grin as he wasn't sure if Ami was going to like the flowers. They're red roses to set the mood. He didn't have to give her yellow flowers anymore now that they both knew that they liked each other. Of course, Tadashi just likes Ami. Loving someone in the eros sense is definitely not in his thoughts yet.
"You look nice," he said. He pocketed his hands and went inside. A part of him was about to fix his hat, but then he remembered that he doesn't even have one on. Instinct.
no subject
"Thank you," she said honestly, happy that she had listened to Minako's advice about what to wear. "I'm ready to go, if you are."
no subject
"Ready over here," he said, and he held the door open for Ami. "I hope you're okay with riding my moped again." He said it because he was worried about Ami's clothing. If this reminded the girl of what had happened the last time the two of them rode together, then it wasn't his fault.
Or was it?

They headed downstairs and with how weather tended to always be perfect in Cerealia, she hadn't bothered with a jacket. Besides, she couldn't actually get cold.
She saw the moped and smiled, picking up the helmet she had worn last time.
no subject
He took a seat and revved up the engine.
"Hang tight," he said, and the moped moved. Tadashi drove them to the entertainment district. The lights of the streets were actually very nice to look at, and Tadashi thought this was a good way to start the date. Eventually, they parked by a cozy-looking Asian-cuisine restaurant. It was right by the theatres, too, which was absolutely convenient. And again, he held the door for Ami before he entered.
And once they were seated, he looked at Ami before he checked the menu.
"I hope you don't mind the food," he said with a reassuring smile. "How the restaurant looked in the pictures online made me want to try it out."
no subject
She wrapped her arms around his waist, blushing as she did so and smiling to herself as well.
Some part of her, though she'd never ever admit it aloud, wanted the ride to be longer. The lights of the Entertainment district were bright and blinking, alternating between different colors and strength. While the night wasn't chilly, the wind was still blowing so the warmth Tadashi offered was nice to hold onto. Once they stopped, she smiled as he held all the doors open for her, though he tended to do that anyways when she wasn't meeting up with him or vice versa.
Ami took a seat and looked all around and couldn't help but admire the deep, dark woods matched with bright walls. It had a nice calming atmosphere in a modern style restaurant that had flavors of Asian architecture.
"This place looks amazing," she smiled. She took the menu and smiled at the Asian cuisine, a little touch of everything. "It's great, Tadashi, I really like it." No stress. "How did you hear about it?"
no subject
"Online," he simply put. "I was trying to look for a few places that weren't so expensive, but seemed like a decent place. Then I came across this."
The restaurant wasn't all that fancy; in fact, it was more similar to a library than anything. There were books on the side, as well as other paraphernalia. Of course, they couldn't touch them, but they were pretty to look at. That was what Tadashi's attention was focused on as he responded, because even though he was all for this date, he still felt nervous.
Nervous because he didn't want to mess things up. Nervous because this is the first step he's taken to get over the whole being dead thing. While this is also about the both of them—Ami and Tadashi—a part of him was for his own catharsis, too.
"I can call the waiter now if you're ready to order," he added.
The music was low, and while there were a lot of people on this busy Friday night, Tadashi didn't have to raise his voice for him to be heard.

"Well it's nice, we could come here again if the food is as nice as the atmosphere. I'm interested in how they do some of the Japanese teriyaki dishes." She was in the mood for their beef teriyaki bento, though she'd have to come back to try the udon bowl.
"I'm ready." Though she wondered at the service of the restaurant if Tadashi had to call them over. "Are you?"
no subject
The waiter arrived at their table, and Tadashi gave his orders. Hainanese chicken, some fried rice, and orange juice. Nothing too extraordinary.
"Your turn," he told Ami. His smile never wavered, and his cheeks started to hurt. It's all fine, though.
no subject
Ami ordered the teriyaki beef bento with green tea and an extra bowl of white rice.
She tilted her head as she gazed at Tadashi, a smile on her own lips.
no subject
"Something wrong?" Though he can tell that nothing seems to be wrong. He just had to ask as a means of teasing. It's clear the girl was happy, and so was he.

"It's near the Research Tower, it's just rented space since I couldn't get one in the actual tower, but it's very close to work. I can spend time there after work and then right back to the apartment later on."
She had told Hiro more about her various projects instead of Tadashi.
"I'm currently working on antivenins for some of the more poisonous plants that we've discovered in the jungle and trying to make a potent enough dose in a small vial for travel use. I have one that's pretty volatile, it's actually eaten through latex gloves. Thankfully it can't eat through wood and glass, though give it time, it probably could. Ah but, I'm also ready to go, if you are."
no subject
But at the mention of Ami being ready, he raised his hand and asked for the cheque. The waiter doesn't take very long to hand him the bill, and he gives the waiter his card soon after. It shouldn't take long before they can go.
He looked at his watch, as well. "There's about twenty more minutes 'til the movie, so no worries that we'll be late."
As for her experiment, he certainly hasn't forgotten. "That's awesome, though. You're definitely going to help a lot of people with that."
no subject
"Ah but that's good, we can stretch our legs a bit before we go sit in the theater. Hopefully there are plenty of good spots."
At the mention of doing a lot to help, she smiled.
"If I get them to a much more stable and viable form, I can give you some just for Baymax as well. I already broke down the chemical composition of the plants so you're welcome those notes as well, if you like?" it wasn't that she was trying to do anything to Baymax or trying to overstep her bounds with him either, but she knew Tadashi had wanted Baymax to help people and an alien planet meant new rules and new diseases and problems.
no subject
"You'll have to ask Hiro about that one," he stated. Baymax may be his invention, but it doesn't seem like he has control over what happened to Baymax now. Nothing wrong about that, or so he sees.
When they do go outside, they'll find some shop stalls and a bazaar right by the parking lot. Tadashi didn't notice that earlier, but it had definitely been there since they arrived.
no subject
"Since we have a small bit of time, why don't we look at what they have?" she asked, gesturing to the little stalls. She was already eyeing a stall with cute little plants in clear globes that could be hung from the ceiling or could sit on a desk.
"Not too long though, we still have to get to our seats."
no subject
He started walking to the stalls, his eyes focused on the trinkets for sale. Nothing in particular interested him, including the plants, but if Ami liked what she was seeing, then that's good.
If only the stalls sold some comic books or something. That would certainly get his attention.
no subject
"I'm ready to go if you are," she was just as much a nut for punctuality as he was.
no subject
Of course, he does slow down in an attempt to not leave Ami behind. This is a date, after all. Not some kind of friendly getaway, even if that's how Tadashi wanted things to be. It's just not very date-like if he walked faster than her.
no subject
"Do you want something to eat? My treat this time, since you got dinner."
no subject
"Thanks", he said to top it all off. And he walked closer to the food booth to check out what they have. There's a wide range of flavours for chips and popcorn, ones that Tadashi's never even heard of before. Jelly bean flavoured popcorn, Popcorn flavoured tortilla chips, nacho cheese and chocolate popcorn. It's all very alien, but Tadashi ordered the normal flavoured ones—jalapeno cheese chips...! Good enough.
And some lemonade for himself. Then he looked back at Ami. "What do you want?
"Oh, we could share the chips," he added. Man, he should have asked her what flavour she wanted. Too late now. He's already holding the small bucket.

The theater itself was about a half-way filled, but there were plenty of two seats and she smiled as she looked about the theater.
"Do you have a preference?"
no subject
"The seats in the middle always have the best view," he said, smiling as he took his seat.
He was actually excited for the movie, as he didn't know what to expect. He read about the movie online before he left to pick up Ami, and the whole sci-fi thing definitely interested him.
