Who: Miles Edgeworth, his faithful canine sidekick Pess, and YOU!

What: Edgeworth takes his dog around, and runs into people. Adorbs ensues.
Rating/Warning: Dog. Grumpy prosecutor being a little less grumpy.

[OPTION A: RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT

Edgeworth is taking his dog out for a walk around the district. And before he can do anything, the big and very real tricolor border collie suddenly stands up on his hind legs and barks excitedly at the first person he sees (which is you, sorry). Pess may or may not brace his front paws on your thigh or any part of you he can reach, tail wagging with anticipation. It's a new friend. New friend!!! On the bright side, he's a pretty clean dog. NEW FRIEND!!!

Edgeworth doesn't care, and gasps at this public display of affection.]

Pess, no. [That firm "no" is all it takes for Pess to behave, although his tail is still wagging like crazy and he's panting and grinning as a dog would. Edgeworth sighs, shaking his head. He's quick to apologize.] I'm sorry; he enjoys meeting new people.

[Far more than his master.]

[OPTION B: SHOPPING DISTRICT

There's a cleaning robot. It's doing its business, sweeping up some debris from a nearby food stall. Suddenly, out of nowhere comes this border collie. He bounds over to the robot, starts sniffing it, and promptly raises one leg ominously over the poor thing.

What do you do, responsible citizen of Cerealia? What do you do - well, while Edgeworth hasn't caught up with his dog, anyway?]

[OPTION C: GARDENS

Pess is a pro at getting people to play with him. So while you're there, you may just find this dog walking up to you with a stick, or a ball, in his mouth. He drops this at your feet, wanting a game of fetch. If you take too long to decide what to do, he'll just sit down, tail wagging happily and staring up at you with those big pleading puppy eyes.

Edgeworth is close by. He'll be looking for his dog when Pess takes a bit too long to get back to him.]

[OPTION D: GARDENS/SHOPPING DISTRICT/RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT/POLICE DEPT.

Drop something? If you did, you might just find this dog picking it up and offering it back to you suddenly before Edgeworth can act. Yeah, I guess Edgeworth is in this prompt too. Thank his dog. And the master, maybe. THEY'RE GOOD PEOPLES...er, peoples and doge.]

Oh, I don't mean Takeru! I meant your dog! I don't think he should forget about me either!

[his throat begins to close up again, and England clears his throat, trying to dislodge the tightness]

They were having a really hard time. Adjusting. To life in Cerealia. [yes, good. keep going, England!] You know how it is. I just thought I could offer some guidance, while keeping an eye on them. [he shrugs, trying to make it sound like no big deal]

[the laughter that had SOMEHOW curled in his chest drops off the moment he's approached.]

Yeah, actually. It's been runnin' around here, lonely. You should do somethin' about that! Don't leave your dog to its own shit, man.

That doesn't sound too healthy for them. They need to have freedom, and sunlight, and a lot of grass.

[flynn's smile can't help but widen at how enthusiastic the pup is. it makes his somewhat lackluster mood brighten up considerably.]

Good boy.

[pess gets a nice pet before flynn reaches down to pick that ball back up. a deal is a deal. no owner yet means giving it another toss. he doesn't particularly mind having to play a little longer, anyway.]

[Edgeworth has had enough of watching, especially after watching the ball weave over and under a bench, making Pess crawl under it and then leap up all over the seat. So far, the only other strange sight is a young man laughing at Pess...yet there's just something about the way he's laughing that suggests that it's not all he's doing. He could be behind the crazy ball, Edgeworth reasons. It's not far-fetched; there are so many more improbable things that have happened.]

Pess! [He calls for his dog, but right now, Pess is too busy jumping and snapping at the air in the hopes of grabbing that ball.] Pess!

[It is at that second yell that the dog finally stops and stands at attention with a whine which is most likely dog-speak for "aw man, you ruined my fun".]

[She gives a small laugh just watching Pess zoom off. Dogs were always so fast and cute, it was just hard not to want to play fetch with them! She waits patiently until Pess comes back with the stick.]

Good boy! [She smiles happily, bending down to get the stick again. It was a bit wetter now, but Suzuha didn't mind. If it made the dog happy, she could probably throw the stick for hours. Maybe.]

Here we go again! [And with a whoosh the stick was gone again]

[prosecutory]

That's quite all right; I'll be returning to work soon.

Are you waiting for someone?

[When Alice moves her things, Pess braces his front paws onto the bench as if wanting to climb up and sit on it. Edgeworth shakes his head.] Down, Pess. [The dog hesitates, then slowly gets down.]

[prosecutory]

[Pess returns, eagerly hopping in place as he deposits the stick in front of them.]

I let him run so he can exercise on his own. He doesn't leave the gardens, but he gets quite far.

I'm waiting for Sir Hellsing. School let out and I haven't any work today. [Aww, poor Pess. Alice was quick to pet him and coo at him for being such a good dog.]

Do you know her, sir?

[prosecutory]

He's not. He arrived several days ago after I earned enough ViViD credits.

[Ugh yes good. Pess raises his head to give Ema more scratching and petting room, and even starts licking her hand.]

[prosecutory]

[With a whoosh, Pess likewise takes off.

When he returns, he has a human trailing alongside him. This human, in fact.]

I hope Pess hasn't been a bother; it looks like he's been gathering playmates.

[prosecutory]

[Good for you, Stahn.]

Indeed. But considering the level of technology, it's not impossible for them to simulate those conditions.

[Sunlight could be substituted. The facility might be particularly spacious. The grass being cultivated in the gardens might help.]

[prosecutory]

[Once the ball is tossed, Pess hurls himself after it with a vengeance, and returns it, tail happily wagging as he drops the ball on the grass.

It is at this moment that Edgeworth finds his precious pooch, sighing and shaking his head.]

There you are, Pess. [He's reconsidering allowing the dog to run about on his own while Edgeworth took a break from playing with him.]

[prosecutory]

Why, thank you. [Edgeworth bows right back.] And thank you for indulging him. [Pess, meanwhile, leaves the stick on the grass and looks back from Edgeworth to Kousetsu and vice-versa, waiting for either of them to give the stick a throw.

Edgeworth picks up the stick, and with a warm smile that seems to be reserved only for his pet, hurls the stick as far as he can.]

[prosecutory]

Ah, I see. [Pess has finally noticed Patamon and is beginning to sniff this other creature. How unfamiliar. How exciting! Pess' tail is wagging eagerly.]

He hasn't forgotten you, in any case. [That's directed to Patamon, of course.]

[prosecutory]

Maybe the only "real" animals they have are the ones in the jungle.

[Edgeworth glances out into the distance, thinking of that strange wilderness they had been dropped into for several days. He absently reaches down to ruffle the fur on Pess' head.

Cats...well now, there's a change of pace. So far he had met Hawke's dog, and Ruby and Yang's dog. Now here's a cat.]

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth has lived with England for a while, and hung out with this nation considerably enough to know when something was up. England never acted like this.

But he's not going accuse his roommate of anything. Instead, Edgeworth is going to keep pressing and wait for England to slip.]

This friend of yours...is a friend from home?

[prosecutory]

Yes, I do. [He nods. Meanwhile, Pess is sufficiently distracted by all the attention he's getting from Alice.] She is my superior.

Is she expecting you?

Then I guess it's a good thing there aren't animals around here.

[OH! What a cute! Ema giggles and continues rubbing on his head, taking care to get around his collar and everything too.]

I didn't know you could do that! I may have to try that and see about getting my fish tank.

YES!! [ Jaune leaps up with joy, pointing at the cleaning robot. Looks like Pess isn't the only one with no shame, oops. ]
