dog day afternoon [OPEN]

Who: Miles Edgeworth, his faithful canine sidekick Pess, and YOU!
When: Any day after the intro log.
Where: Errywhere, pretty much. See prompts for locations.
What: Edgeworth takes his dog around, and runs into people. Adorbs ensues.
Rating/Warning: Dog. Grumpy prosecutor being a little less grumpy.

[OPTION A: RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT

Edgeworth is taking his dog out for a walk around the district. And before he can do anything, the big and very real tricolor border collie suddenly stands up on his hind legs and barks excitedly at the first person he sees (which is you, sorry). Pess may or may not brace his front paws on your thigh or any part of you he can reach, tail wagging with anticipation. It's a new friend. New friend!!! On the bright side, he's a pretty clean dog. NEW FRIEND!!!

Edgeworth doesn't care, and gasps at this public display of affection.]

Pess, no. [That firm "no" is all it takes for Pess to behave, although his tail is still wagging like crazy and he's panting and grinning as a dog would. Edgeworth sighs, shaking his head. He's quick to apologize.] I'm sorry; he enjoys meeting new people.

[Far more than his master.]

[OPTION B: SHOPPING DISTRICT

There's a cleaning robot. It's doing its business, sweeping up some debris from a nearby food stall. Suddenly, out of nowhere comes this border collie. He bounds over to the robot, starts sniffing it, and promptly raises one leg ominously over the poor thing.

What do you do, responsible citizen of Cerealia? What do you do - well, while Edgeworth hasn't caught up with his dog, anyway?]

[OPTION C: GARDENS

Pess is a pro at getting people to play with him. So while you're there, you may just find this dog walking up to you with a stick, or a ball, in his mouth. He drops this at your feet, wanting a game of fetch. If you take too long to decide what to do, he'll just sit down, tail wagging happily and staring up at you with those big pleading puppy eyes.

Edgeworth is close by. He'll be looking for his dog when Pess takes a bit too long to get back to him.]

[OPTION D: GARDENS/SHOPPING DISTRICT/RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT/POLICE DEPT.

Drop something? If you did, you might just find this dog picking it up and offering it back to you suddenly before Edgeworth can act. Yeah, I guess Edgeworth is in this prompt too. Thank his dog. And the master, maybe. THEY'RE GOOD PEOPLES...er, peoples and doge.]

[Deal. Pess follows that tossed ball happily, catching it accurately, dutifully bringing it back to Flynn. The dog's head is held high and his tail is wagging hysterically as he goes, and drops the ball at Flynn's feet.]

[flynn's smile can't help but widen at how enthusiastic the pup is. it makes his somewhat lackluster mood brighten up considerably.]

Good boy.

[pess gets a nice pet before flynn reaches down to pick that ball back up. a deal is a deal. no owner yet means giving it another toss. he doesn't particularly mind having to play a little longer, anyway.]

[prosecutory]

[Once the ball is tossed, Pess hurls himself after it with a vengeance, and returns it, tail happily wagging as he drops the ball on the grass.

It is at this moment that Edgeworth finds his precious pooch, sighing and shaking his head.]

There you are, Pess. [He's reconsidering allowing the dog to run about on his own while Edgeworth took a break from playing with him.]

[flynn's bending down to pick up the ball right as edgeworth approaches. ah, there's the owner. did he call it or did he call it? his eyes then turn back to the dog now known to be pess. not too shabby of a name. fairly sensible and not something silly like fluffy or princess (hey, you never know).]

He’s been a very sweet and well-mannered dog. [that smile then turns toward edgeworth.] You've raised him well, Sir.

Thank you very much.

[Edgeworth can't help but smile proudly and breathe a sigh of relief.]

I'm glad he hasn't given you grief. [To other people, Pess would probably come off as too overbearing.]

Not at all. I have a dog myself and understand how they behave.

[they have energy and need attention. anyone who gets mad at a dog for behaving like a dog is just silly.]

[prosecutory]

Can you tell me about your dog?

[He's curious and pleasantly surprised to learn that many people are dog people. Pess is more curious about the ball Flynn picked up and is bracing his front paws on Flynn's thigh.]

[that just makes flynn laugh softly before giving into pess' obvious demand and throwing the ball. once having done so, he turns back toward edgeworth.]

His name is Repede. My friend and I, we raised him together from a puppy. Although not quite as lively as Pess, he still plays on occasion and is a wonderful companion.

[he pauses and then adds something that'll probably come off as a little odd.]

He also makes for a reliable ally in a battle.

[prosecutory]

[Pess bounds away, barking happily as he chases the ball.

...whoa whoa hold the phone, Repede fought? That was not something Edgeworth expected. Personally he'd keep Pess away from that sort of thing.]

He...fought? What kind of dog was he? [If that was a dog like a German Shepherd or something, that'd probably be okay.]

Fights with a dagger. Truthfully, I'm still uncertain how things lead up to him learning but he has.

[one thing lead to another and now there's a dagger-wielding dog who can steal in their party. he's pretty damn good with that dagger, too. best canine ally a guy could ever ask for.]

As for the breed, the name of it escapes me but he's a large, blue-grey dog should that help identify it.

[since, you know, large and blue dogs are that common in other worlds.]

[prosecutory]

I...I see. [He takes a bit of time to digest all this information. Not only did the dog fought, it wielded a dagger and was a...shade of blue.] I'm not familiar with that breed, or any dagger-wielding dogs for that matter.

[Yeah.]

[huh. no blue, dagger using dogs elsewhere? what a shame. they really are a great, strong breed.]

They may only be native to my world.

[ah, though going off edgeworth's reaction, flynn may need to clear something up. as cool as having a world filled with dogs that can use weapons sounds, there's only one of those back home.]

Though I should clarify that the breed doesn't normally wield daggers; Repede may be one of a kind in that regard.

[He figured as much. But now that the shock has worn off, Edgeworth is more awed.]

He must have been very well-trained to be able to do so.

Teaching him had taken some effort, but he picked up on things surprisingly fast.

[a little training here, a little training there and they ended up with a dog who could use a dagger better than some humans.]

He can read the flow of a battle decently well and realizes easily enough when another party member requires aid.

[and then you get items tossed at you from a dog. nothing spices up edible items like a little dog drool, right? despite that fact, it's still fairly handy to have around.]

Impressive.

[His eyes are wider now.]

But admittedly, I'd...rather keep Pess away from battle, whenever possible. [Yyyyyeah. Even if it means no retrieved drool-coated items for him after a fight.]

[you're so missing out on the drool goodness, edgeworth! truly an exquisite taste!]

Naturally.

[most normal and good owners wouldn't put their animal in danger willingly after all. flynn glances over toward pess with a smile. the pooch really seems the sort to try to play fetch with an enemy rather than fight them.]

He seems far more fitting to be a non-combative companion.

[Edgeworth nods vigorously, then smiles as he spreads his arms.]

He's already here, just with his other owner at the moment.

[Yes good. Dogs make all worlds awesome. Edgeworth kinda wants to meet this dog.]

I assume I may see him around in the future?

[one day they'll have to set up a doggie play date!]
