I. - Morning Walk to School (Hikari)

[Careful not to wake the slumbering Tailmon on her pillow, Hikari bade those still at the apartment a courteous goodbye as she headed out for the day.]

[The walk to the local school wasn't that bad. Not much further than her elementary school back home. She'd spent several days memorizing the path, and was pleasantly surprised to learn that it even allowed her to pass by a small cafe. When she was a little early, she could stop and buy an extra baked good for breakfast. And a second one to wrap up and save for Tailmon for later, of course.]

[Otherwise, the eight-year-old child can be found quietly strolling along, her footsteps barely audible against the ground, nearly full backpack slung over both shoulders. Quiet, but with a faint smile on her lips as she tried to think of what she might want to learn that particular day in class.]

II. - Lunchtime! (Hikari)

[Thanks to those ViViD games, on top of her small allowance for attending school (who would have thought?), Hikari had enough left over to spend on a nice lunch for herself. Normally, she would just eat in the classroom...but it was such a nice day outside that day! She wanted to enjoy it!]

[So she found a comfortable area along the grass and placed her things down. Sitting on a small blanket, she reached inside her pack and pulled out what looked like a plastic box. Inside, containing all sorts of delicious treats and a pair of disposable chopsticks for her to eat them with.]

[But not before she pressed her hands together and bowed her head in a habitual show of respect for the food she was about to consume.]

Itadakimasu!

III. - The Park (Hikari)

[Tailmon was usually up by the time she returned home. And eager for a little exercise.]

[Or all the things, they'd found a soccer ball in one of the local stores. Hikari wasn't quite as good or even enthusiastic about the sport as her brother, but there was something about the idea of getting to kick it around for a while--with Tailmon chasing after it in the strangest came of catball and mouse one would se that day--that lifted her spirits immensely. She let out several bouts of laughter as the silver whistle around her neck shone in the afternoon sunlight, not even caring that she was getting a little sweaty or dirty from all the exercise.]

All right, Tailmon, I'm gonna kick it to you! Ready?

[She waited until the feline digimon looked ready to pounce...and kicked.]

IV - The Mask (Hikari)

[She noticed it from Day One.]

[Hikari had always been a rather observant child, even when she was very small. For the blank, white mask to appear within her line of vision no less than...well...every time she looked? Even if it was just out of the corner of her peripheral vision?]

[At first, she thought someone was playing a joke on her. It wasn't funny. Then she wondered if the mask was alive. She tried talking to it. It didn't talk back. She picked it up. No response. She put it back down, and went along her usual way. It followed.]

[That would have been more than strange enough for her, the girl who had a talking cat for a companion and sometimes glowed when she got upset. But then...the mask started to grow feathers. Little by little. Day by day.]

[She was officially confused.]

...does this sort of thing happen a lot?

[She stare down at the mask on the sidewalk in front of her in all its featherly glory, wondering if--perhaps--she needed an adult.]

V. - Shopping! (Iris)

[Dressed in her full priestess garb once more, Iris was on a very important mission that day, which was what led her to any shop she could find that looked like it sold a variety of tea blends. Always with a very specific request in mind:]

No, forgive me. I should have been more specific. I'm...looking for the herbs themselves. Not teabags.

I...like to mix my own blends.

VI. - Work! (Iris)

[And not just for home; once she found what sh was looking for, Iris brought her prizes straight to the Cerea gym, where she had already procured a small tea set. It wasn't quite the equipment she'd had at the Temple, but it was sufficient enough to suit her needs.]

[In between customers, she would sit on one of the floor mats and serenely ground at the herbs little by little, placing the finished products all in separate jars. Labeling them accordingly and testing both their smell and a small dab on her tongue for taste to determine which ones might be best suited for one another.]

[A highly relaxing ritual, but not one that would distract her enough not to notice whenever someone entered the room.]

Hello. Is there something I can help you with today?

VII. - Mask (Iris)

[...was this another game? A non-ViViD game? Because she was fairly certain she had not entered the virtual reality for quite some time. Not that she could recall.]

[Iris stared at the strange, white mask that had been...for lack of a better word, following her, for several days now. It seemed everywhere she looked, there it was. That same, blank expression.]

[Except, today, there was a noticeable change. It had started to...crack. Little tiny fissures breaking through its otherwise smooth surface. And, though she possessed no spiritual powers of her own, and had no explanation for their appearance...she felt a small chill travel down her spin each time she realized the cracks were getting bigger. And deeper.]

Whoever's doing this... [She finally whispered into the air when she saw it sitting on the park bench beside her. Even more cracked than before.] ...please stop. I beg of you.

[Close enough. Just as he leaned in, she bent down to better meet him at eye level. Wanting him to be sure that what she said was meant to be taken as the absolute truth, not merely words of patronization.]

Not wanting the people you care about most to die...regardless of the circumstances...that's not showing a lack of wisdom. If anything, I would think it's just the opposite. It shows how much you understand their lives are worth.

[personal profile] cresthopes 2016-02-21 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[As she looked at her, there was a slow realization before him. In a lot of ways, this didn't feel any different from when his brother told him when he wanted to be alone.]

You really think so? But if I accepted that people will die won't that make me wiser since there's not a lot I can do about it?
shroudedinsecrecy: (pic#9589783)

[personal profile] shroudedinsecrecy 2016-02-22 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
The wisest people of all aren't the ones who know the most. They're the ones who accept what they don't know, and things that are out of their control.

...and no, that doesn't mean you have to like it. No one does.
cresthopes: (Pensif)

[personal profile] cresthopes 2016-02-23 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
So...that just means if you don't like something that's happening, that just means you're wise?

[...] I don't think I understand but doesn't that mean everyone here is wise too?
shroudedinsecrecy: (pic#9707993)

[personal profile] shroudedinsecrecy 2016-02-24 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
[...oh, dear, she wasn't explaining this quite so well, was she?]

[She'd never been much of a teacher before. All the lessons that had taken her a lifetime to learn...how could she break them down in such a way that Takeru would be able to properly understand her meaning?]

It's not about liking something or not liking something. I didn't mean it like that. I just meant that you don't have to like something in order to be considered wise on the subject.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that you are much wiser than you think. You speak of subjects that many your age can't even begin to understand. But you do.
cresthopes: (Sourire)

[personal profile] cresthopes 2016-02-24 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You really think so? A lot of people have said that I knew a lot more than I should. I guess that's a good thing though!

[After being in the Digital World and in Cerealia for so long, it's already a miracle that he didn't break out crying more often. Not to mention losing Patamon twice and having to relive certain painful memories...

Was it any wonder people would think that way about him?]

But I still think that everyone here is wise though. They're a lot older than me so they do know a lot more!
shroudedinsecrecy: (pic#9707987)

[personal profile] shroudedinsecrecy 2016-02-25 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
That's fine. So long as you don't forget your own strengths as well.

Never compare yourself to others, Takeru. [The words of painful experience here; how many times in her life had she compared herself to Dahlia? Going so far as to impersonate her...albeit for a good reason...thinking she was her strongest when she was pretending to be her stronger, braver twin?] And never forget how special you really are.
cresthopes: (Pur)

[personal profile] cresthopes 2016-02-26 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not going to do that! I think that might make me really sad!

[Although, there were a few times here and there that he wished he were more like Yamato. Who wouldn't want a brother as cool as him? But then again...]

I know a lot of people don't have Digimon here so I'm really lucky that I have Patamon with me all the time! And that I have a lot of friends here too!
shroudedinsecrecy: (pic#9707989)

[personal profile] shroudedinsecrecy 2016-02-26 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
[...well, technically, that was still comparing himself a little, but if the thought brought him happiness, she supposed it could slide.]

You are very lucky! To have so many people that care about you.

I can only imagine what it would be like to have such a loyal little companion with me all the time.
cresthopes: (Sourire)

[personal profile] cresthopes 2016-02-26 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Takeru had to ponder a little. Let's see, how to describe this...]

Well, it means that you would never be alone because there is someone always by your side! And that whenever you're in trouble, Patamon can always help me out!

[But then there was a pause]

I wonder what it's like to have a twin. I think that's pretty exciting!
shroudedinsecrecy: (pic#9707992)

[personal profile] shroudedinsecrecy 2016-02-27 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[...she opted for the answer that didn't involve the latter, far more upsetting aspects of their life. The answer that reminded her of their younger years. When Dahlia's soul was still innocent. Relatively.]

I suppose it's similar to what you described with Patamon.

Even when we were separated, as children, Dahlia and I were still there for one another. She was my only friend in the outside world, and I would have done anything she asked.
cresthopes: (Anxieux)

[personal profile] cresthopes 2016-02-27 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, that didn't sound like a good thing.]

Only friend? But isn't there any other friend you have? What about Phoenix-san? Isn't he your friend too?

[Of course, he didn't know how long ago it was when they have met but that just seems rather odd. Not to mention how sad it must be too...]
shroudedinsecrecy: (pic#9707988)

[personal profile] shroudedinsecrecy 2016-02-29 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
He and I didn't meet until I was 19.

And before that...I lived at a Temple up in the high mountains. It was just me and Sister Bikini for most of my childhood. No one else. And she was more of a mother to me than my own.

[Though perhaps Takeru was right in that Sister Bikini could be considered a friend as well as family.]
cresthopes: (Anxieux)

[personal profile] cresthopes 2016-02-29 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[With the mention of a mother, Takeru had to flinch. Just a bit]

Then it sounds like she must have been a good mom. If it was just the two of you, she must have made sure she took care of you really well so you won't feel really lonely!

[Or at least he hoped so!]
shroudedinsecrecy: (pic#9707989)

[personal profile] shroudedinsecrecy 2016-03-01 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Her smile brightened, because Takeru was right.]

I often think that I was the luckier of us. Dahlia might have been able to live with our father, but I had Sister Bikini. She helped me become the person I am today, and I will always be grateful to her for that.
cresthopes: (Bouffon)

[personal profile] cresthopes 2016-03-02 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Then how about you write her something? I know she's not here but if she does ever show up, you can write her all the things that you're grateful about her! Or maybe you can even write a story about her too!

[At least, that's how he had been handling it without his brother or when his friends have come and gone here]
shroudedinsecrecy: (pic#9707987)

[personal profile] shroudedinsecrecy 2016-03-03 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
That's a sweet thought, Takeru, but...I'm not very good at writing stories. Certainly no where near as good as you are.
cresthopes: (Neige)

[personal profile] cresthopes 2016-03-03 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Then I can help you out! Once you get started, it shouldn't be hard and if you need any help, you can always ask me!

[Because writing makes the world go round!]
shroudedinsecrecy: (pic#9589819)

[personal profile] shroudedinsecrecy 2016-03-06 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
What if we wrote the whole thing together?

A...what would you call it? Collaboration. Something we co-author.

[An activity to share between the two of them.]
cresthopes: (Pur)

[personal profile] cresthopes 2016-03-07 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we could! And we can let everyone read it too and see what they think!

[Because friendship writing is go!]
shroudedinsecrecy: (pic#9707988)

[personal profile] shroudedinsecrecy 2016-03-07 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Then it's settled.

At your next earliest convenience, we can start working on our story. No rush. If you have other things to do, I can be patient.

[It'll give her some time to think about what to write.]
cresthopes: (Avis)

[personal profile] cresthopes 2016-03-08 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm...

How about next week? I can start on it whenever you are!

[And little does she know, he is already plotting something for the future!]

[personal profile] shroudedinsecrecy 2016-03-08 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
[So sneaky, child.]

Next week would be fine.
