[Open] There's a Point Where It Tips, There's a Point Where It Breaks

Who: Everyone in Cerealia who figured out the code words for this meeting
When: Evening of IC 5/31, after Hawke's network post
Where: Sanctuary
What: "A pizza party" aka a meeting about the new masked figure that appeared.
Warnings: N/A, maybe some talks about what Alien-kun had to say, etc.

[It's evening by the time Hiro gets to the Sanctuary. Anyone who had seen him this morning will have spotted him with Baymax, both of them sans their normal armor and Baymax carrying what looks like a giant box. They had preparations to make, after all. He makes his way in and out of the building a few times but by the time the first of their guests arrive, everything's set up.

Upon entering the Sanctuary, Baymax moves to stand guard and collect your CereVice in a box at the door. Please don't cheat, he doesn't like when people aren't playing fair. In exchange for the CereVice, you will receive a form and a pencil before Baymax cheerfully waves you away.

Hiro's sitting on a table at the head of the lounge watching people come in. Hawke had promised these people pizza and cake (Hawke why) and he's delivering on that promise. The stack is about as tall as he is, more than enough to feed everyone who's shown up. He waits until a majority of the people show up before he clears his throat to gather attention.]

...uh, hey! [Well. That's a great, confident start.] I know this was sort of last minute and everything, but I really appreciate all of you coming by and actually listening to Hawke. [Sorry Hawke. But there's a grin which says he's more than appreciative.] I know you're probably here for free food, but there's a couple of things you should know. [Sliding off of the table, he moves to stand in front of what looks like a small mechanical box.]

When we all got back a few days ago, I started thinking about the fact that CERES can watch us from...pretty much anywhere. So I took some plans for something else I've been working on, improvised a little bit and created this thing. It'll deflect the signal from our implants and block them out completely as long as we're in this room. I've tested it out a couple of time already, the whole thing gets thrown off. It's...why I wanted to meet here! Because that sort of leads right to my next point.

[There's a small sigh as he paces the room, Baymax waddling after him. He moves back to the table he'd been sitting on to pull up the mask he'd been given a while ago.]

All of you probably received one of these either from that fortune teller, Aria, or it just showed up. And while we were out there? Some of you probably found the terminal like I did and spoke with a masked figure. [A beat.] I'm starting to realize that it told all of us something different, but the most important part is that it's with the Flamine Federation. You know. The guys who supposedly destroyed our planets. Baymax gave all of you a form--um. [And here he pauses, unsure if it's really appropriate to be ordering people to share information but then again that's what they all need. He's always believed everybody needs to be aware of what's happening.] Basically I guess just...answer what you can and tack it up on the board--[A gesture to a large bulletin board he pulled from who knows where.]--and talk amongst yourselves about what happened out there? Alien...the monsters, that weird altar? A bunch of you saw that, right? What was that about?

[Dear god somebody help him.] ...look, I tried. There's free food. This is about all I could throw together so fast before something else happens here. So...yeah. Let's just start figuring out what's really happening here, okay?

[Vague hand gestures? Vague hand gestures. He shuts up after that and sort of shrinks back into his hoodie, jumping back up on the table to hand out food and keep an eye on the room. All right, colonists. You know what to do.]

[ooc: Welcome to the info-sharing mingle! The idea behind this is for characters to ICly fill out this form (coded by the wonderful Fidgey/Katsura-mun) and have it displayed for everyone to view that information. You can post your sheet in your comment or link it to a post elsewhere in your journal, or even post it in the post I made that the form's posted into. HOWEVER this is open to everyone even if your character didn't speak to the alien and just wants to check stuff out! As a note: characters will start to feel sick after about two hours in the Sanctuary due to the frequency deflector. Sorry about that! Any questions hit me up via PM or plurk at [plurk.com profile] alternatively]

YES BRING THE FEELINGS

[Han grimaces]

Because I found things belonging to Leia, Jaina and Anakin.

And others identified people from their world as also having abilities.

[People have been trying to use their children for their Force abilities since they were fetuses. And he's never liked it. Now he likes it even less. If it means what it looks like it meant.]

GOOD (gym)

[It's hardly the point right now, which should still be centered on his agitation at this whole affair, but instead, he startles at the name. Anakin. That can't be a mistake. Solo is the only one who seems wholly and completely convinced that the story he's telling is true; the shared name is not a coincidence.

He should be angry about this. Or at least the implication, given the theoretical connection he has to these people Solo's listing, even if he hasn't met them (and with whatever this clusterfuck has turned into, he isn't like to anytime soon). Except, he shouldn't be "angry," sworn honor to a code and all, but there should be something more than:]

Anakin?

[Confusion doesn't seem wholly appropriate, but right now, it's all he can really muster as he moves away from that self-loathing haze. He knows he has grandchilden in theory (at least, if he believes any of this), and...formerly in practice (and...there's the guilt again), but it's not something, even with Kylo, that he's given a good amount of thought to.]

Our youngest. It was important to Leia.

[There's a whole complicated saga behind the name. Nothing about their family is ever simple. They might as well all accept that. But the end result is a child named Anakin. Who seems to have met a grisly fate.]

He was older, here. Seventeen. Good kid.

[Still too young for anything like that.]

[personal profile] ex_forcechoke292 2016-03-03 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Well. If that doesn't make him still want to meet his theoretical daughter all the more, nothing would. Unfortunately, that thought is immediately dampened by context. There's no telling if someone subjected to...whatever this ritual was could even come back, or how he could rationally want that, knowing at least the scope of the mountain of lies that have brought them all to this point.

He shouldn't want it. And he does. He certainly doesn't deserve it. And yet he needs it.

And...hells, how did Kylo Ren fit into all of this? Did he still?

The consideration is immediately sobering.]

All force-sensitive, I take it?

[It's not a comfortable thought on a personal level either. This just keeps getting better.]

The Force is strong in our family.

[And they're part of the same family. As uncomfortable as he is with some of it, they're family. And he's trying. It's important to Leia.]

It was obvious they are since they were babies.

[He's still clinging to the present tense. The alternative. That ritual. It must have been...]

[personal profile] ex_forcechoke292 2016-03-08 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you said yourself people leave and come back again...right?

[Please tell him he hasn't misheard that. It's the one thing that both screws up any potential theory he might have, but also keeps the anger at bay. The ritual is disturbing, but he has no real means to understanding what it'd been for. But a sacrifice is something else altogether.

And it's not something he's ever taken kindly to when there's no agency in it.]

Leia already did once.

[It's a last shred of hope. Maybe she can still come back.

And if they're very lucky even if she remembers it, she won't remember that part.]

[personal profile] ex_forcechoke292 2016-03-13 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Sadly, in Anakin's experience, there's no such thing as luck. Especially when it comes to the harrowing experiences, the ones that hurt, and kill, and scar. He wishes he had Solo's optimism in this circumstance, that he somehow had the experience here that could lead to some semblance of hope here, especially in what--who--he's just lost.

A certain someone who also, if his memory serves, has never been mentioned in the man's somewhat casual and rose-colored series of recollections.]

What do you know about Kylo Ren?

[The change of subject is abrupt, maybe not even a wise choice given how much that fresh loss still sings like an open wound. But if Kylo Ren really had been who he said, it's a question that needs an answer. Framing. And if it's as he suspects, this loss isn't his alone.]

[personal profile] notsosolo 2016-03-14 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Han really wishes he knew anything definitive about Kylo Ren. He has a lot of questions about that man and the only person who might have told him anything is... well.]

Not enough. He says he's my son. Rey said his name was Ben, before. But I don't have a son named Ben.

[And then it gets really complicated]

[personal profile] ex_forcechoke292 2016-03-14 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
[A fourth grandchild? Or is it only one? There's clearly something in the stories here that don't match, and of the two, he's inclined to believe the one who could give him proof: he may not have wanted to believe Kylo Ren and all that "prophecy," those visions of what is to come, but it's the most tangible explanation he has for anything.

He can't even begin to fix something that isn't.

He files that away, vaguely wondering at why, were this true, the man would have hidden his identity and what that could possibly mean. He doesn't expect those answers here, and those he had hoped to find are in short supply. Not that he has a better place to start, anymore.]

Seems to me you've been keeping poor track of your children, Solo.

[personal profile] notsosolo 2016-03-14 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Han's eyes narrow at that. He'd do anything to keep his children safe and the fact that he didn't have that power here was a source of constant frustration and more.]

Whatever let CERES get them, it wasn't a lack of effort on my part. Jaina. Jacen. Anakin. Those are my babies.

[personal profile] ex_forcechoke292 2016-03-16 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Because all I see is you hang-wringing and complaining. Family is the only thing some of us have, and you've all but rolled over and given up.

[The anger is rising now, palpable and hanging in the air, evident in his sneer and clenching gloved fist. He could choke the man here and now, but he doesn't: all that does is prove Kylo Ren's point, and if he's the only one left to uphold that legacy, it won't be like this.]

I don't see a man willing to fight, I see a coward waiting for someone else to do his job for him.

[personal profile] notsosolo 2016-03-17 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
[He had been trying to get along with Anakin here, but he has limits]

You don't know the first kriffing thing about me. Or how places like this work. I can't do anything for my kids now. There was nothing that could have stopped them from vanishing, just like there was no controlling who turns up here in the first place. If it was as simple as finding the right person to shoot, I would have done it ages ago.

[He misses problems he could shoot]

I can't keep people from vanishing. But not everyone who vanished turned up there, so maybe that can be changed. That's why I'm here.

[personal profile] ex_forcechoke292 2016-03-20 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe you can't. But you can do something about the people who are he--

[And he cuts off suddenly at the slip in present text. It's all too easy to keep thinking about it as if Kylo Ren is still here, still present somewhere, still just as forlorn and angry and disillusioned all in ways that Anakin finds he empathizes with too well. He shouldn't have, and maybe that didn't matter anymore, but the idea that he had been all Kylo had in the end is...

Too much.

His voice quiets, though the tone takes on a whole new level of indignant anger:]
He was your son. Or do only some of them matter?

[He wishes he had a good answer. Talking to Kylo hasn't exactly been enlightening.]

When I say I never had a son named Ben... or Kylo for that matter, that's exactly what I mean. He might have been born later, but Anakin was seventeen when he was here and never mentioned another brother.

[Jaina wasn't here long enough. And Rey never got a chance to explain anything.]

I've tried to find out more. Tried to make sense of where he fits in the history I remember. All I've found is that he claims to have killed me.
