[So it had taken longer than he'd thought to get the four of them together. Cerealia excelled at delaying plans when it felt like it what with its giant monsters and random teleportation and the like. Ruby had visited him after they came back to the colony and it was when he was comfortably curled up with her and playing a game with her at home that he drummed up the perfect idea for a game the four of them could play.

After all, the two of them still had to beat Tadashi and Yang. It was only right.

So it's early afternoon when he practically drags Tadashi by the hand to the game center, chattering at the older boy about how it'll be great and how Tadashi's going to have to owe him so big when Hiro and Ruby win and generally finding himself in a more upbeat mood than he's felt in a while. He opted out of his armor today, instead deciding it was time to test out some kind of hybrid of his street clothes and his superhero gear. His gunblade's in his pocket just in case (ViViD can get weird, after all) but he's hoping they won't need it.

This is just to chill and have fun. And, you know, win.]

Come on, they're probably already waiting for us. [And with a final tug he pulls Tadashi into the game center to find the large ViViD set-up, already glancing around to see if he could spot the girls.]

tadashi's in his usual vivid gear: a hoodie, jeans, his electromag gloves, and he even has his three-sectioned staff quietly hidden at the back of his belt.

[They are definitely waiting--Ruby's sitting on a table, swinging her legs (Ruby, that's not for sitting on), but she pokes at Yang and waves at Hiro and Tadashi all at once when she spots them, excitedly.]

There they are, they made it! Hiiiiro, Tadashi! Hey!

[ Well, if Ruby's going to poke her, Yang's going to unceremoniously shove her sister off the table-- before she also waves, nice and cheerful. ]

Glad you could make it! We were starting to think at least one of you had chickened out.

[Welp, bye Ruby. Clearly the sisters are already getting in on the competitive spirit, and Hiro is, too, seeing how he's elbowing Tadashi. Excuse him for actually caring about showering today. Have to look good for the girlfriend, etc etc.

But oh. Ohhh no, no, he flashes a wide smirk at Yang instead upon hearing that.]

Keep dreaming. Like I'd miss the chance to take you guys on. Ruby and I have been talking about this forever. [Okay, maybe not forever. It's then that it dawns on him that...yeah. Yeah, Tadashi doesn't really know Yang like he knows Ruby, so he awkwardly gestures at his older brother.]

You guys have kinda met before right? This'll be like a bonding exercise or something.

Toaster.

[ that's all he says, looking at yang's direction. then he just shakes his head. ]

Can I just say how unfair the teams are? Not that Yang can't fight or anything—I'm sure she can—but we barely know each other.

[ IT'S UNFAIR OK. ]

[Ruby, for her part, goes flying right off the edge of the table when Yang shoves her off, naturally. ONTO THE FLOOR. AGH.

So as she starts to push herself back up, she's just whining:]

Yaaannnnnnggggg!

[...Ahem.]

I think the teams are pretty fair! I mean--Yang's Yang, so.

[that's your handicap, Tadashi.]

Right! [ IGNORING HER SISTER. ] The strongest teamwork's born in desperate times, anyway. You should've seen what Ruby and Weiss managed to whip up when we were facing down a huuuuge Nevermore!

[ Ah, memories. ]

[Part of him want to dash forward to help Ruby to her feet but he's casting a look at Tadashi just in case. Bro. Don't embarrass him. So instead he casually walks to her and offers a hand to her.]

I'm gonna guess this was after fighting the death stalker? [A grin. And then to Tadashi:] Anyway, Yang and Ruby are right. Yang's a great teammate and you two are going to be fine. If you're really that worried, we'll pick a game that'll be good for figuring out teamwork and nobody's going to be at risk of really getting hurt. How about that?

[ hiro you little shit. tadashi has no idea what you're talking about. ]

Fine. Sounds like a plan to me.

Though if we end up being a better team than you and Ruby, you're sleeping on the couch tonight.

[ he's kidding, ofc. then he looks at yang and nods her way. ]

Nuh-uh!

[Ruby'll let Hiro help her up, but she's quick to immediately...come to his defense... Okay.]

Then if we win, Hiro gets something too!

Maybe a date with you?

[ and a nod at Tadashi. Sup. SHE'LL TEACH YOU HOW TO WRECK SHIT. ]

You say that like we don't already have those. [It's grumbled under his breath but Ruby's up and he's not exactly inclined to let go of her hand yet. (Spoilers: it's because he's kind of forgotten it's not as normal to their siblings to witness it as it is to himself and Ruby.)]

If we're doing that, then I want a good wager. If you and Yang win, I'll sleep on the couch for a month. But if Ruby and I win...you help me finally tear down the wall between the apartments to make a super-apartment, and you wear a sign saying you're the biggest nerd in Cerealia for a day.

Alright, sounds like a plan to me.

[ he's not particularly fond of the sign thing, so you can bet his competitive side has been switched on.

hiro, he's been owning you for ages. time to show everyone what he can do. ]
