Jaune of Justice / Hawke the Line [ CLOSED ]
Who: Det. Arc
beaconed & Det. Hawke
kirkwalled
When: IC: 6/9
Where: ViViD // Modern-Day Setting, FPS
What: Hawke and Jaune star as police officers in this action-packed buddy cop ViViD game.
Rating/Warning: virtual violence, stupidity
[ It's definitely the weirdest game Jaune has ever been a part of. His usual jam is fighting against monsters with the weapons he knows, which was the plan because Hawke promised him they'd be fighting a dragon together. A dragon! Instead, they somehow found themselves in slick modern-day suits, with a tie and everything. They're also packing heat! Guns, that is. Shades are optional.
Furthermore, the ViViD level has briefed the two players on their situation and their objective. Hawke and Jaune must find and apprehend a drug lord who goes by the name of "Dragon" (wow, so they ARE fighting a dragon...) and their trail has lead them to what appears to be a crackhouse in the shady part of this city. No backup, unfortunately, as the captain has threatened to suspend them if they keep pursuing this case. WHO WRITES THESE CLICHES?! ]
W-Well. I suppose... any ViViD points are points, right? How do I look, "Detective Hawke"?
[ Jaune spins around for her once like a loser. Man, they really stand out in this ghetto neighbourhood already. ]

this seems like one of varric's bad novels.
either way, here she is with jaune and they look really cool and they're supposed to bust in and apprehend this... dragon. the dragon should be there! all their info says -- dragon is in the crackhouse. that's a sure thing.
hawke looks over at jaune as he asks her opinion and takes a moment to consider his outfit. he does look pretty cool, she thinks. they both look pretty cool! but man, that's a cool tie, jaune. and those shoes! ]
You reek of detective-ing, Detective Arc. Positively stink with it.
[ did hawke even know jaune's last name before now?? no. either way, hawke perks up and gets ready to go with jaune into the house. she withdraws one of her guns from their holster because that seems like a thing to do and -- ]
Okay, so we're... kicking the door down, right? That seems like a great ide--
[ and then hawke drops her gun. it sort of tips over in her hand because she didn't expect it to be so heavy and she makes a move to catch it but it just slips out of her grasp (twice) and lands on the pavement with a dull thump. she looks kind of baffled.
... at least the safety was on? ]
Huh.

Huh.
[ Jaune also looks baffled. Consider him co-baffled. ]
Is your gun working or...?
[ It didn't even fire off by accident. Jaune always fires off by accident?? ]
A-Anyway, are we really gonna just-- kick it down? I thought maybe we could try the old good cop, bad cop approach, y'know? That always works on TV!

I... don't know? I imagine so. I haven't done anything odd with it. I've barely touched it!
[ she's going to pick it up again and just... awkwardly put it back in the holster. she can just use her fists! ]
Oh, let's do that. I'll be bad cop, you be good cop. I need --
[ just patting her jacket pockets as she looks for something and, oh. got it! she pulls out a toothpick from one of her pockets and grabs it between her teeth. ]
There we go! Ready?
[ she really does assume he's not going to argue with her about the good cop / bad cop thing. for real. ]
no subject
Oh! Yeah-- sure! I can do that! Wow... t-this is kinda fun, isn't it? I mean, y'know, it's no dragon slaying, but hey!
[ When they get to the door, Jaune knocks politely and turns to Hawke again while they wait for an answer. ]
S-Should I have gone for the toothpick, too? I feel like we should, y'know, discuss these things before we, ah... you know-- like a team.
