| [ The time has finally come. Hiro and Dipper had been planning this game for weeks and both boys were excited for a little friendly competition. The turn-out was surprising as well, but they were pretty pleased with themselves. ] Okay, listen up! [ Hiro’s waiting until everyone’s attention is on them. ] Name of the game is Capture the Flag! We’re gonna split up into two teams. Looks like we’ve got enough people it’ll be even. Dipper’s gonna explain the rules really quick and then get ready to log in. [ RULES. He can do rules. Dipper steps forward and clears his throat. ] Soooo...we’ve all done this before, right? But I guess in case you haven’t, this is how it works. Each team has a flag they are responsible for protecting. The object of the game is to steal the other team’s flag and take it back to your home base without being caught by a player on the opposing team. Being caught basically just means getting tagged, so...don’t try to tackle anyone unnecessarily. [ If it’s necessary, then go for it. ] Anyway, if you’re caught, you’ll be sent to the opposing team’s jail and you’ll have to wait for someone from your team to come tag you out to get free. There’s no time limit, so don’t rush into things. Be strategic. And...that’s about all there is to it, I guess. [ Let the games begin! ] PHASE I. The moment the group enters ViViD, they’ll find that they’re immediately split up into two teams.
It seems as though the game has decided for them who will be on whose team without any say from the captains. Both Team Hamada and Team Pines will find themselves in a bunker-type room filled with maps that seem to be half-complete and supplies such as water canteens, hunting knives, and rope. Just where are you going in pursuit of your flag? Good thing you brought your weapon into the game with you! No weapon? Don’t worry, you have a whole selection to choose from. Buddy up with somebody, grab some gear, and start strategizing how to break out and seek out the other team’s flag! PHASE II. Somewhere from beyond the walls of your bunker, a horn sounds. The game has begun! Your team emerges, ready and rearing to go, and you find yourself in...great, another jungle? But this one may seem a little familiar to characters who have been in the colony for awhile. The other team is out there, waiting for you. Will you go to protect your flag in the heart of an ancient temple? Or will you seek out the temple of the opposing team, and try to find their flag instead? Whatever path you choose, there are many hazards in your path in the jungle itself. You may find you need to cross a particularly rickety-looking bridge - while being chased by enemy NPCs that just want to capture and cook you. Or maybe you find it easier to swing from vine to vine across treacherous ravines or ford through rapidly-flowing rivers. Be careful where you step, too - there's no telling when your footing might give way to a pit of quicksand... The jungle is a dangerous place. But you all know that by now, right? PHASE III. Congratulations! You made it out of the jungle and right to the entrance of an ancient temple. What’s it doing out here? Who knows! But it’s obvious that this is the place you have to go to seek out the other team’s flag if the giant neon arrow is anything to go by. You and your teammates take a deep breath and burst into the temple— —only to find that the area is lit with bright studio lights? What the heck? Well okay, whatever. Let’s just focus on getting through this temple and find the flag. Surely this path will lead you straight to it! …or no wait. This path? What about this path? It looks like several of the paths will lead you around and around in circles. Certain paths will plunge you and your teammates into pure darkness. Some of the staircases have trick steps. Try not to fall! What’s behind this hidden wall? And don’t mind the creepy shadows of spiders crawling along the wall or the gust of air that blows right past your ear. It’s ViViD! This is all for fun, isn’t it? Oh, but do mind the arrows. If you aren’t careful, you may be hit with a dart and experience the following side-effects: -Spontaneous singing -Being frozen in place until someone frees you (good luck figuring out the secret behind this one. Looks like ViViD wants to emphasize team work!) -The urge to form a conga line with other players, enemy and team members alike -Re-enacting old kung fu movies At least the side-effects are temporary. After all of your hard work running through the temple though you’ll find that all paths eventually lead to a singular chamber brightly lit. This surely must be where the flags are. Be quick and steal the flag! And whatever you do, try not to get caught by the other team or you’ll have to sit it out in jail! PHASE IV. You've made it. You're in the final treasure room where the opposing team's flag is hidden. Maybe you've made it with another teammate. Maybe there is a guard about to enter the room and attempt to stop you. Either way, your trial isn't over yet. Because to unlock the chest holding the flag, you must first build...a Silver Money statue. It's only three pieces. How hard can it be, you think? Apparently, it's really freaking hard. If you're able to accomplish the incredible feat of assembling the monkey, the chest will unlock, unveiling your prize. Better claim it quick, though, because as soon as that chest opens... Well, you were all expecting this to happen at some point, weren't you? Better start running. PENALTY. Well, what a bummer. You got caught by the enemy and now you have to wait it out in jail until somebody can come rescue you. This isn’t so bad, right? ...no, it’s pretty bad. You’re in a holding cage and you’re on a platform surrounded by water. If that weren’t bad enough, it looks like this moat is filled with alligators and snakes! But ViViD doesn’t want you to worry. See? The snakes and gators are pretty harmless. What a relief. Oh well. Guess it’s a good time to get to know your team/cellmate a little better. You’ll both be in here for a loooong while. [ooc: Hello and welcome to Capture the Flag! Thank you to everyone who signed up! Ty and I randomized the teams ahead of time and we have also randomized the winner which will be….TEAM PINES! (No one is more surprised and proud than Dipper.) But how did Team Pines win? How did Team Hamada let their flag slip from their grasps? It is a mystery.jpg...let the games begin and go nuts with the prompts! Any questions, feel free to shoot either me or Ty a PM or hit up our plurks at |

Rock Lee (part of Team Hamada)
[Rock Lee stands at attention and tries to look at one of the maps, holding it at a variety of angles to try to figure it out.]
Rock Lee, reporting for duty! Ah... Do we have a plan in mind? Or... should we rush forward with hot-blooded determination, and take the fight to our enemies?!
[Phase II]
[Rock Lee eventually sets out, thinking that he moves swiftly enough that he should be able to help solve this game quickly.
Except instead, he's ended up on the bridge, trying to fight off a swarm of NPCs while the bridge slowly comes undone. Are you fighting by his side, coming in for a rescue or are you planning to help attack him for the other team? It's a jungle out there.]
[Phase III]
[Rock Lee has been lost in the temple for about forty minutes now. He seems someone approaching from further down the hall, and he immediately shouts out to the figure.]
Excuse me!! Are you on my team, or an enemy?! If it is the first, I would like to assure you that all will be well! If it is the second, then I would like to bring the fight to yo-ACK!
[Suddenly, there's a dart in Lee's neck. Which effect could it be...?]
[Phase IV]
[Somehow, he's made it! But now it's time to try to assemble the statue... as if he has butterfingers, he keeps on dropping the pieces as he tries to put it together.]
Ack!! [Will you lend him a hand and help him out? Or are you part of the opposing team and ready to take advantage of the situation?]
[Penalty]
[Rock Lee has ended up in a holding cage. Once his initial panic dies down with the realization of how harmless the set-up is, he glances around to see who his cellmate is.]
They captured you as well?!

[Is he going to fall over, paralyzed like in the movies? Please say no. (Or maybe yes, considering this is a video game and they want their team to win.)]

[Lee tries to reassure the child. Except even as he says that, his body moves on its own towards Frisk and begins to act out genetic film karate moves in the child's general direction.]
Ack... I- I do not know what is happening-!
Team Hamada
[When they logged into ViViD, Hiro hadn't been expecting the game to separate them immediately. Okay, fine, he can work with this. He's used to leading a team and at least there're some familiar faces which helps.
Hiro will be sweeping through the bunker to examine the supplies, trying to puzzle out exactly what's waiting for them.]
So. Think we should talk strategy or just act on the fly out there?
II
[As the captain of his team, Hiro's the first one out the door the moment the horn sounds and there's an audible groan as he realizes they're back in a jungle. It's a jungle he recognizes briefly and he can't help but chuckle. This is the level they brought Dipper into, isn't it? How fitting.
Still, he'll be blazing trails and moving at quick speeds immediately heading for the opposing team's temple.
Of course the problem with Hiro being Hiro is that he looks small but apparently still decent enough to roast for a nice meal for the enemy NPCs. Enemies and team members alike might find him running with hoard of NPCs on his tail.]
Not that way, not that way, not that way!
[Is it a trap to lead the opposing team from his team's temple, or is he really in trouble? Guess you'll have to find out!]
III
[So. This jungle was designed after Dipper's test game, and now there's a maze like Hiro's first game. It's funny how ViViD's created this based on the two of them and he takes on the challenge of sneaking into the enemy territory and disappearing into the shadows, running through the corridors and the like. He stops to catch his breath after all that running though, leaning against a wall and activating one of the trick panels. He yelps, flipping into the wall and finding himself rotating into a new hall.
Did he just land on someone new? Did he push you into one of those flying darts? Sorry about that! No matter what though if it's someone from his team he'll extend a hand to pull them up. If it's somebody not from his team…he'll still ask if they're okay but then immediately take off running. Chase after him and catch him if you can!]
Penalty
[Well shit. Somebody caught him and he's absolutely sulking inside the jail cell. He's glaring at anybody from the opposite team who happens to be lurking by, but he'll speak up loud enough for anybody to answer as he sticks an arm through the slots of the cage.]
This things actually sorta look real from far away, don't they? [He picks up a few of the plastic snakes and begins disassembling to to start building a new super-snake. Oh well. Gotta keep himself entertained somehow.]
Penalty
That makes him frown. It can't be fun sitting stuck in a jail cell while everyone else is having a good time, so Nico decides that's what he's going to do this game: break people out of jail.
It takes a bit of snooping and spying from the shadows to locate it, but once he does, with a few distractions here and there to lure any guards away, eventually he's standing in front of the cell door.]
Nice snake, captain. You ready to get back into the game?
no subject
What surprises him is the sudden appearance of a teammate and he quickly drops said-snake, sitting upright to look at Nico.]
Dude, I didn't even hear you. [Whether that's due to Hiro not paying attention or Nico being sneaky enough, it's debatable. There's a lopsided grin.] But I hope that's not a real question. The snake's a nice distraction, but we have a war to win.

Hikari Yagami ☼ Team Pines
[Hikari was...mildly disappointed to find out that most of her friends were on the opposite side. Including Takeru, Lee, and Rapunzel. That meant they couldn't work together...but, at least it was just a game, right?]
[So she tried to put on as grateful a smile as possible when going over to join her actual team and awaiting any instructions for her role in the upcoming match.]
[Phase II]
[This is....]
[It took a bit of time for her to recognize the surroundings for what they were. Not because she 'd seen it, but because she'd heard about it. From Rei. Strange. It had to be a coincidence, though...right?]
...no, I'm just being silly. [She muttered to herself, then shook her head to clear her thoughts. This was a game that was meant to be played in a lot of trees and cover. Of course this is what VIVID would come up for them.] I just need to...be as quiet as possible...
[And keep hiding. Something which wasn't too hard for her, small as she was compared to most of the other players.]
[Phase IV]
[This should not have been so hard.]
[Feet, body, head. Except...no, that wasn't right. That was the head. No, that one. Which meant that was the feet--no, body. And the body...why was it upside-down?]
[Hikari wasn't normally much of a crier in situations where she didn't fear for the safety of herself or her friends, but the longer she spent fiddling with the pieces, the more her eyes were beginning to sting. Her lower lip quivered.]
No. I can do this. I have to do this.
[She wiped at her eyes with her arm and tried again.]

Owain | TEAM PINES
[ While his most recent ViViD experience wasn't all that great, Owain is ready and willing to put all that behind him as he gears up for this game! He's excited for this chance to play and he's going to pay attention to their strategy session, just as soon as he introduces himself... ]
Greetings everyone! I am Owain! Simply point me where I am needed and I will do my best to perform so that we attain victory!
PHASE II;
[ The horn sounds and Owain is quick to spring into action. The jungle is unfamiliar to him, but that doesn't stop him! He sets forth to accomplish what he was assigned to do.
Crossing a river, his speed is clearly an advantage here as he jumps from rock to rock, before he missteps and lands flat on his butt in the water. ]
Ugh, seriously?
PHASE III;
[ The temple is... unsettling, to say the least. But no matter, it isn't the scariest place that he has ever been. He manages to make his way through the twisting and turning paths, before a dart shoots out and strikes him in the arm. ]
--Wait, I can't move?!
[ he's frozen. someone please help him ]
PHASE IV
[ Honestly, this monkey shouldn't be hard to put together.
But Owain for some reason can't just get the pieces to fit together at all. ]
How can this be so hard?
PENALTY;
[ Well, it sucks that he's been captured, but it's not so bad. He's reaching through the bars at least to poke at those gators, marveling at what they're made of. It's like someone has never seen inflatable plastic before. ]
This is amazing!

Assuming they manage to get his attention, they'll gesture at the monkey puzzle.]

Edgeworth | Team Pines
[If Edgeworth hadn't been struck by one of Jack's fun-inducing snowballs, he would have passed on this when he found out that someone had dropped his name into this game. now, he has a different light in his eyes today - determined and a bit excited. Some may misinterpret that for pure competitiveness, but those who know Edgeworth would be a little surprised to see him in a good mood AND taking this game seriously.
He already has a water canteen and some rope set aside for himself, and he already has a sword for his weapon. Some of the maps he took down and placed on the table to try and make heads or tails of them.
So far, he doesn't seem to notice the change in his attitude today.]
We need to split up further into two teams - one to guard our flag and the other to find the opponents' flag. Should they be equal, or should the searching half be bigger to cover more ground?
PHASE II: (THERE ARE NPCS) JUST AROUND THE RIVER BEND
[There's a river blocking his path, and it's a pretty fast-flowing one, turning into a waterfall as it tumbles down rocky cliffs and spills into a lake below. The good news is that there don't seem to be any alligators...in sight. Vines are overhead for the swinging, spaced farther and farther apart as you go. There are flat stones in the water to help anyone crossing it, but they're wet from the constant spray and flow of the river.
Edgeworth may have been magic fun snowball'd but that doesn't mean he's become reckless. He's found a long branch that he's using to test the depth of the river and he's checking for any dangerous creatures in it. But when he hears the collective noise and clatter of several NPCs on the move, it's time to move, himself, so he steps onto the first stone hurriedly, using the branch to sort of steady himself. That's only going to work as long as the branch can touch the river bottom, though.]
PHASE III-A: FALL GUY
[He's so close to finding his team's flag he could almost taste it, but suddenly he runs into a pitch-black hallway, where he steps on a hidden panel that trips him, sending him skidding (and yelling) down a ramp and falling into a pile on the lower landing with a crash and a loud "Oof!"
By this time, the effects of Jack's snowball are beginning to wear off, and Edgeworth is slowly beginning to regret ever joining Capture the Flag.]
PHASE III-B: I NEVER SHALL YIELD / TILL WE COME FACE TO FACE
[You're probably with Edgeworth (or trying to beat him to Team Pines' flag) in a hallway adorned with weird hieroglyphics, some featuring two-headed cats and others showing three snakes braided together. That sort of thing. There's a hiss, and he sees some darts suddenly flying out from little holes in the wall.]
What the - ouch!
[He rubs his shoulder where he was pricked, then suddenly his expression changes from pain to that of shock and horror as he finds himself beginning to sing the first few notes of one of his favorite Broadway songs.]
There...out in the darkness...a fugitive running...fallen from God...
PAIN-ALTY
[Edgeworth is sitting with his elbows on his thighs, chin cupped in his hands. He's frowning, and he has a lot of reasons to frown, least of which is the fact that he was caught. He's tired, he feels like a fool (man, how many people heard his rendition of Stars??? He's no Philip Quast!), and he wants this game to end and to forget about this. The prosecutor stares down at the toy snakes and alligators in the moat quietly; at least the penalty could have been worse.
Why not strike up a conversation with him, now that he's no longer running on fun fuel? Too bad he's back to usual grump mode.]

PINES PINES PINES PINES
[ Alright, team, here's your fearless leader! As such, Dipper will attempt to start this pre-game meeting off with some sort of speech...thing. It's going to go about as well as you think.
He clears his throat. ]
Uhh - hey! So...I'm Dipper, your team captain. But I...guess you probably all figured that out by now. Uh - anyway.
[ #leadership ]
So, we should split the team into two groups - one to defend the flag, and one to go after the opposing team's flag. We need the fastest runners on the flag-seeking side of things, but people with sharp reflexes on the flag-protecting side. So, who's in for what?
[ Go on, don't all speak up at once. ]
[ PHASE II ]
[ Dipper...is not a fast runner. So he's volunteered himself to go guard the flag in his team's temple. Flag protection is critical, anyway! Even if he doesn't get the glory of taking the other team's flag. It's about teamwork, after all.
(Plus, the team is named after him, so he still kind of gets the glory.)
On his way towards the temple, however, he finds himself stuck on the rickety bridge with enemy NPCs closing in on both sides. He's have a strange sense of deja vu about all this...
If he spots someone at the edge of the bridge, friend or foe, he'll call out. ]
Uh - a little help, here?
[ PENALTY ]
[ So, somehow he managed to end up in jail. It's a little embarrassing, considering he wasn't even on offense. Once again, his short, little legs are to blame.
He keeps glancing through the bars to see if any of his teammates are on their way to rescue him, but when that doesn't seem to be panning out, he turns to idle conversation with his cellmate (or guard!) to pass the time. ]
Soooo...you...come here often?

will solace ☼ team pines
(This had been his idea and it was a great idea, okay. He was still fully in the notion that dragging Nico along to Capture the Flag had been probably one of his best ideas in the list of really incredible ideas that Will Solace had founded. It was a bit of a bummer initially that they weren't on the same team but then there was the whole aspect of kicking Nico's ass that he had realized he could look forward to.
So with diligence and athletic energy of the gods, he's darting all over the place. No problem. He's got a plastic red sword strapped to his hip as he comes sprinting through the woods effortlessly.
And it's all going really good. Seriously. He's practically made for this kind of thing, you know. But today's just not his day as it were.
He winds up sprinting down the bridge because those enemies kind of maybe looked like cannibals? He doesn't actually know and has no real interest of finding out. He's going along when all of a sudden- CRUNCH.
Will's stuck half inside of the bridge and half out. It kind of looks funny with one leg resting against the bridge and the other dangling down below as he desperately scrambles to get out but that serves to only screw him over more. The wood groans and he groans with it.)
This sucks. This sucks so much.
(All right so getting out of the bridge wasn't too bad. Not as bad as he had thought anyway. His legs a little cut up but that's just fine. He sprints along and it's half way along the way that he thinks he hears something. This leads to him coming to a stop and turning around to look behind him, a frown etched on his face. Maybe he had just imagined it but- wait no! There it was again. He listens a little harder, all the while not noticing when he begins to sink ever so slightly into the earth.
It's not until he turns to go that he realizes both of his feet are firmly sunk into the sand. His efforts of trying to move also plunge him forward and his arms windmill before he lands with a nearly comical splat into the sand. He somehow at least manages to roll over onto his back so as to not suffocate and- well.
He just kind of stares up at the trees and accepts his fate. It really sucks going down covered completely in quick sand.)
(Welp. This sure is a thing. A thing that Will has no idea what to do with. He just kind of winds up staring at the monkey statue with a look of sheer puzzlement on his face. He reaches a hand up and scratches at his hair. He looks a total wreck by this point. Smeared from head to toe in mud with his blond hair looking a lot more like brown and there's cuts and bruises everywhere. He's definitely had better days. But the kid doesn't seem put out in the least. Well okay he didn't seem put out until he was faced with this puzzle thing.
Can't be too hard, he thinks. It's just a monkey. So he goes to start putting it together but his hands just kind of slip and he drops the head with a solid clang onto the ground.
Right. This won't end well.)
(So that didn't end well.
Surprising no one, he got caught fiddling with the monkey. Which, okay, definitely not the best wording he could go with there but hey.
Now he's in a cage. This game of Capture the Flag completely sucks. It's also the most fun he's had in forever. At least, he'll think that once all is said and done with. For now, he's just sitting in a cage and somehow had managed to grab one of the inflatable alligators inside with him and is kind of just holding it while glaring out of the cage.
He is so cursing the first jerk from the other team who comes to him. Land them with a whammy of couplets. He doesn't even give a shit.)
no subject
Then he spots the group of people coming up behind Will. Oh. That's why he was running, and that's more than enough to get Nico running forward too. Other team or not, Nico isn't going to let Will get carried off by crazy people or go plummeting into the river trying to escape from them.]
