Who: Open!
When: OOC: 4/02 // IC: 6/16
Where: ViViD.
What: ViViD's newest level seems to be an interesting one - a Pokémon battling challenge that's been custom-coded with influence from Steven and his world. While this is a way for Steven to train (and see the talent that Cerealia has to offer), it's also a way to share the coolness of the Pokémon world with the colony! If you've ever wanted to Pokémon AU, now's your chance.
Rating/Warning: E for Everyone! Please don't make me change that... it's Pokémon :(
A. Welcome to the world of Pokémon!
[ so you've decided to log into ViViD. maybe steven has been dropping hints to you that today would be a good day to do so, or you heard from someone else that a cool new level was being released. either way, upon logging in, a young woman in what appears to be nurse's attire will be standing in front of you. she bows politely, her smile welcoming. but... where's that background music coming from? ]
Welcome to the Battle Tower!
In this custom level, you will be able to participate in a rapid-pace Pokémon battle challenge, all while earning Credits. To learn the basics of Pokémon and Pokémon battling, please consult the Pokédex that has been provided for you.
[ upon her speaking those words, a touch-screen device will appear in your hands. it speaks in a computerized voice, giving you all of the basic info on type advantages, attacks, and a list of pokémon themselves and their data entries upon their selection. ]
The aim of this level is to battle your way through the Tower and ascend to the top. On each floor, you will find a challenger hoping to do the same; the winner of each battle will determine who moves on. For every win you accumulate, your rewards will increase exponentially and be added to your account.
Should you win ten consecutive battles, you will face the Battle Tower's most powerful Trainer - the Champion of the Hoenn region's Pokémon League. He's quite eager to see your potential!
[ as for who that Champion is... she doesn't say, and won't say if she is prompted. but anyone with the title of "champion" is bound to be strong, right? ]
Though you may choose six rental Pokémon to accompany you during this level, battle formats will be 3-on-3. To make the most of your experience in this simulation, we highly encourage you to foster bonds with your partners for the time you are together. Please, do your best!
[ and with another bow, the level selection screen will allow you to select your team of rental pokémon. the choices are almost overwhelming - all pokémon (barring legendaries) are available for rental. when you've made your decisions, the world dissipates into the simulation of a tall, gleaming tower. are you ready to take on the challenge?
oh. the music's changed. ]
B. Would you like to rest your Pokémon?
[ congratulations, you've made it through another floor! or maybe you just lost, and you're contemplating your defeat. or maybe you didn't listen to that lady at all, and you've decided that this "battling" thing is for suckers.
whatever your reason, you'll find yourself in the battle tower's rest area. it's a comfortable space with snack vending machines for people and pokémon alike, areas to sit down and relax, and televisions broadcasting highlights of the tower matches (if you're lucky, you might see one of yours!). there's also an area to heal your team, of course... by the same nurse that welcomed you? no, she'll brush that off and say that that was her cousin, and laugh about how she gets that all the time. there's an awfully uncanny family resemblance, isn't there?
if you've been thinking about getting to know the pokémon you've chosen, now might be a good time to call them out of their poké balls. everyone else seems to be doing it, and that nurse lady did say that you should foster bonds... what's the worst that could happen? ]
C. You are challenged by... (NON-MINGLE)
[ so you've made it through ten consecutive battles without losing. that's quite the feat, especially for a rookie trainer - you should be proud! but like the nurse said, the "champion" still stands in the way of you conquering the battle tower. defeat him, and there's sure to be a nice reward waiting in the wings. you've already gone this far, so why stop now?
upon taking the (significantly longer) final elevator ride, walking through the hallowed hallway and passing through the large double doors that lay open for you, you'll find yourself in a large, echoing room. a handsomely-dressed man standing at its head - do you recognize him, or is he a complete stranger? either way, he'll be turning around to greet you with a smile.
the music's changed again. ]
So you've made it here... I believe congratulations are in order! [ and he'll step forward. ] Have you enjoyed your time with Pokemon thus far?

is this a mingle i think it's a mingle it's made like one
[ There's a girl with a fin instead of legs, who is slightly transparent, snoozing on the belly of a huge snorlax. Next to her are a few others linked below, because who needs pokeballs when you want to make friends with everyone? ]
something?? 2
[ She really doesn't seem to be getting busy with fights because right now she's tying ribbons, pears and random things she's kept in her hair, to decorate her pokemon. ]
There you go! So pretty!
C.
[ Sirena has chosen a mismatched but beautiful team if you ask her.
And it's probably a wonder that she's made it this far considering that she's very easy going with this. ]
Yes, they're so cute!
HAHA yes it is! and c of course
I'm glad to hear that. Though this isn't the ideal setting to be able to fully experience a Trainer's journey, an answer like that reminds me why I do what I do.
[ he'll step forward into the arena, expression becoming more inquisitive. ]
May I ask your name?
no subject
I'm Sirena von Boo.
[ She catches sight of... well, anything, and her eyes focus on that instead.
Oooh, shiny. ]
no subject
It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss von Boo.
[ besides the lights, the shiniest thing in the room is probably the key stone set into the lapel pin on his suit jacket. ]
If you're all right with it, I'd like to test the strength and skill that's brought you to this room in battle.
no subject
Then she looks up at him, and they're practically face to face. ]
What?
no subject
Ah... A Pokémon battle. [ . . . ] That is what you're here for, isn't it?
no subject
I just went the way I was told to.
[ She'd rather look at his pokemon too. ]
no subject
but... well. if she's not here to battle, then he won't force her. ]
I see. [ he sighs, but it's not without a small smile. ] Well, we don't have to battle if you don't want to. But at the very least, I'd like to see the Pokémon you've partnered with.
no subject
Probably by her and her critters treating it like a game. ]
Oooh, go right ahead. They're so adorabubble, fright?
no subject
but... puns aside, her team looks pretty good. ]
They certainly look like they've become attached to you. I'm always glad to see that.
no subject
[ She has not thought about whether that's even possible or not. ]

[ Edna is strangely curious and interested about these Pokemon, so she decides to let them out of their Pokeballs (getting out of their vessels can always be a nice opportunity to stretch their legs).
That was her biggest mistake, as some of the...larger ones, such as the Tyranitar and Armaldo, are also the more...affectionate ones. Eizen the Tyranitar decides to lift her up to get a better look at her, while Sorey the Armaldo tries to reach for Edna too with one of its large claws. Edna herself, meanwhile, is trying to kick the claw away while wriggling out of the Tyranitar's grasp. It's more annoying than actually painful. ]
Go find someone else to bug.
[ At the same time, she doesn't want to fight them with her earth artes because they're her partners (for the time being) and partners don't do that unless necessary. She points at the nearest trainer with her parasol. ]
Like that person.
option c-teven;
[ She'd be lying if she said she wasn't at least a teensy bit surprised at who the champion is. At the same time, there's only one person here (she knows) who comes from a world of Pokemon like this.
Her team is a bit...unorthodox. Although she'd like to have an entire team of ground/rock/steel types (as befitting an earth seraph), she knows that it's tactically better to cover all types of attacks, with different strengths and weaknesses, much like their own party.
Her main companion is a Tyranitar (Eizen), but in tow are 5 others: Delphox (Lailah), Weavile (Rose), Bisharp (Alisha), Vaporeon (Mikleo), and Armaldo (Sorey). ]
I guess. They're...interesting. And way more competent than normin.
[ She says, as a subconscious jab to the normin who is no longer with her. ]
I was expecting someone cooler to be the champion, though.
[ And this is an actual jab. ]
c-teven is here
still, it's nice to see someone familiar having completed the challenge. he hadn't expected edna, but it's still welcome to see her... until she calls him uncool.
:( ]
...And here I was, hoping that I made a lasting impression on you.
[ everyone else thinks he's cool, edna!!!! what do you know!!!! ]
no subject
I never said you didn't.
[ Just not the one he wanted to leave on her. :) ]
no subject
Well... regardless of that, I am the Champion. [ kind of. seeing as may took the title from him, that's only half true. but she doesn't need to know that. ] And as such, it's my duty to battle you if you issue the challenge.
no subject
[ ...Is there a formal procedure to these sorts of things or something? Announcing it a certain way?
Or is it just making eye contact and shimmying up to them real quicklike???]I challenge you to a Pokemon Battle...or something along those lines. Look, you're the expert here, not me. Saying anything starting with "I challenge you" sounds pretty old-fashioned, by the way.
[ Oh. They should. Probably send out their Pokemon by now. ]
Let's go, Eizen. You too, Sorey and Lailah.
[ The Tyranitar, Armaldo, and Delphox, respectively, approach. ]
no subject
[ they might be rentals, but he can tell that her pokémon have a spark for battle - not to mention that she's nicknamed them. that's interesting in itself, but there's no time to dwell on that now. ]
Then let's begin. Skarmory!
[ he'll be sending his team out one at a time, starting with his usual lead. he emerges from his poké ball with a caw, keeping to the air for a moment before landing. ]
no subject
All right Lailah, you're up first. Will-o-Wisp.
[ With that, Lailah the Delphox breaks out its stickwand from its fur-sleeves, aiming at Skarmory. She won't go for the direct attacks just yet. Starting out defensive and then going on the offensive once she gets a better read on the opponent might be the way to go. ]

[Yamato was curious about a new ViViD level that didn't involve everyone trying to kill each other, unlike when he arrived. So he came along, Gabumon in tow, to find... something very familiar involving monsters. After the introduction, he plays around with the touchscreen for a while, Gabumon peering up to watch.]
Do any of these look like Digimon to you, Gabumon?
[Gabumon shakes his head.] No, I've never met anyone like these before.
But they look similar... Even the name sounds similar.
[Yamato flicks though the choices of Pokémon curiously. There's an overwhelming amount of choice, but eventually, he starts to narrow down a team. While he deliberates over his last two choices, Gabumon starts to look a little crestfallen.]
Yamato, will you really fight without me...?
B. REST AREA
[After only one battle, Yamato decides to go back to the rest area. This battling thing is a little too weird for him, especially when there doesn't seem to be a reason behind it. In the Digital World, he always fought to stop an evil or corrupted Digimon, but here? It just seems to be for fun, and a way for players to prove themselves.
So instead, he decides to let his team out of their Pokéballs to learn a little more about them.]
Uh, nice to meet you. I'm Yamato...
[He reaches out to pet his Mightyena and offer a treat, only for the Arcanine to rush over, followed by the rest, all wanting attention too. Potentially this was a bad idea, because the lobby is now... well, dogpiled with excited Pokémon.] --H-hold on, one at a time!
b!
it always warms his heart to see people and pokémon getting along, so he finds himself smiling when he sees yamato getting dogpiled. ]
It seems like they're very eager to get to know you.
no subject
[But they seem to take to people in the same way that Digimon do, he thinks. ... Speaking of which, Gabumon is sitting to one side, looking more than a little jealous at everything going on.
Yamato pets his Houndoom on the head, then looks over at the stranger.]
Do you know a lot about Pokémon?
no subject
[ he hasn't noticed the obvious outlier that is gabumon in the crowd of pokémon just yet, but it's only a matter of time. for now, he's focused on yamato. ]
I know a fair bit, yes.
ota~
[ Kousetsu isn't normally one for Vivid but he's been trying to get more credits to help out with the money for swordhaus. This was not what he was expecting when logging in today though. His head will tilt to the side as he goes through the long list of pokemon. He'll pick out his few...eventually?! He's just a little overwhelmed at the sheer amount that are available to him. He doesn't even know what pokemon are?! Please halp. If you're nearby and he happens to come over he'll ask a very basic question. ]
Do you know what these are? I have never seen animals quite like them before. [ But some of them sure are cute...Kousetsu wants to take all of them home, tbh. But he knows that's not possible, and only being allowed six is not enough either. But he will just have choose. ]
B
[ Okay, so, peaceful sword isn't going to do many battles. Instead he'll be in the rest area letting his pokemon out to wander and mingle with whoever else is around! His six pokemon are mismatched but honestly Kousetsu doesn't really seem to mind?! They are as followed: One, Two, Three, Four, Five, and Six. It's a strange combination of pokes but Kousetsu seems to enjoy their presence as much as they enjoy his, so it's all good. All they have in common is that they're as blue or almost a similar shade of blue as his hair, go figure. ]
A. because u can never have too many swordbuds
I think they're Pokemon. There's a man here with tons of them, buuuuut I'm... not entirely sure he mentioned anything about--
[ As she looks up at this person she's decided to randomly befriend, he'll find himself rewarded with a somewhat suspicious half-smirk. ]
--battles. This is your first time seeing them?
yess good
Yes that is...correct. I have not...seen anything quite like this before.
no subject
--often?
[ Yeah, the line sounds weird even when she asks it. ]
no subject
I do not like the fighting options they make you choose... [ so no he doesn't play often. ]
But it is a way to earn more money for the apartment so...I will do whatever is needed to help Haru-san and the others.
