[ This is the greeting given by the birthday girl. Ai's face is aglow with cheerfulness that couldn't be beat as she welcomes guests inside the Sanctuary where some nice music is playing. It's the most convenient place to set up a small party after all and there's even a few things to do for fun if one isn't sticking around just for congratulatory birthday greetings:

A) FOOD

Where there is Ai Thao, there is food. Lots of it. Starring a peach birthday cake made by the Man, the Legend, Chef Archer. Aside from those, there are some Vietnamese spring rolls, roasted meat, some healthy salads, and colorful cookies and drinks! (Hey, did someone bring hard cider to this party...???)

Ai might even collect your plates and clean up after you isn't she nice? Oh, that's not Ai, it's a robot who's taken on the same skin tone as her owner... Creepy. Ah well, at least it's being helpful although it might say every once and a while, "Thank you for coming to my birthday party!"

B) Piñatas

How cute, there's a few of these cute piñatas hanging around in the ceiling. When you try to bat one down for the sweet candy innards though, they are just out of your reach. Ai Thao (real one, not the similar looking skin robot) giggles because she's passing by you. Ah, she's the culprit. Those guys can't move on their own after all.

"Sorry, sorry! I couldn't help it."

Oh, so that's all... Actually hey wait, some of those piñatas ARE trying to run away?! Try to catch one, but these little bastards are pretty fast for cardboard full of candy.

C) KARAOKE

There is a TV screen, mics, a karaoke box and an endless selection of pop music in all languages. All of them. Try to belt out those tunes, serenade your loved one, get the highest score, no one's going home a winner anyways.

(Ai's robot is sitting at the machine and taking the mic, humming in a voice that sounds too similar for comfort...)

D) Late Evening

Let's settle down. Maybe chat and catch up with other people. It's a good a time as any right? The lights are low, the cake's been served, there's hot tea (and booze still???) and there's a lovely lamp projecting stars onto the walls. What a nice mood!

(It might make your robots, should they come to the party look rather eerie though, especially since they developed that layer of skin.)

[Edgeworth is not one for karaoke or piñatas. Instead, he's just here to be polite and give Ai her gift (a gift certificate at one of the upscale ice cream parlors and some fruity tea leaves), and now he's here chilling out with hot tea and a slice of cake.

Okay, he's not completely chilling out. Any robots are met with a scrutinizing, suspicious stare because he's on the lookout for anything that could happen with these things that aren't just creepy. The lamp DOES make for some good effects, though.

Bother him? Introduce your robots to him?]

[It's been a long day, but Ai is doing her best to make the rounds and say hi to people she may not have greeted properly. Egdeworth is one of those people and she walks up to him, with a hot drink in her hands, nodding at him in recognition.]

Good evening Mr. Edgeworth. Did you have your fill of food yet?

[prosecutory]

Good evening, Miss Ai. [He nods, smiling at her and not really minding that she wasn't able to greet him properly. On top of the party, she DID have a robot to deal with.] I've eaten, thank you. [Quite a bit, but he's no pig.]

How have you been?

[emotive]

Better than expected! My resilience has developed rapidly thanks to this place!

[Yeah, one couldn't imagine she was suffering with everyone else in the underground several weeks ago.]

[prosecutory]

...I think that is to be expected if one has been here for a long time.

[He shrugs, sipping his tea. This place had a way of building character.]

I feel like that I can take on anything at this point. Even a bear!

[Ai don't fight bears]

[prosecutory]

...That doesn't mean you should.

[AI NO.]

[emotive]

I'm pretty sure a bear wouldn't be able to touch me...

[and you can eat them too]

I could outrun them by air after all!

[prosecutory]

That may be so, but don't provoke one.

[Don't go looking for bears to fight just because you can pls.]

[She gives Edgeworth a playful salute.]

Anyways, thank you for coming! This is the first time I've had a birthday quite like this.

[prosecutory]

You're welcome. [He smiles, and picks up a small package, neatly wrapped. Inside are the gift certificate and a pouch of fruity tea leaves.]

Happy birthday.

[Ai takes the package and when she opens it up, her face lights up. That's a good enough thanks for him right?]

You're too kind! Ah, this tea will go so well with snacks! I'll share with Athena too.

[prosecutory]

Indeed. I think Miss Cykes would appreciate it too, especially when it's iced and after a jog.

[He knows Athena that much.]

[ Unfortunately for literally everyone, Saiduq's robot is activated and following him around, so when Edgeworth scrutinizes it, he thinks he's scrutinizing him instead. Well, one certainly couldn't blame the prosecutor, but... ]

...Is there something you require of me?

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth blinks. Two identical people means one robot and one colonist. He shakes his head and clears his throat.]

Ah, no. I apologize.

[But he doesn't know this person well enough to try and figure out which one is the robot. Then again, the one following might be the robot given the robots' propensities for tailing their owners?]

I was just observing...people's robots.

[adminproof]

It's understandable. They are curious mechanisms, are they not? Yet one cannot be too careful with them.

[ If he knows what he means. The robot doesn't seem to pick up on the double meaning yet. It's not that advanced...for the time being.

But if Saiduq is implying that they're dangerous, then it makes it all the dumber that he...activated it anyway.................saiduck why ]

Indeed not.

[Edgeworth is normally very vocal about these robots but he decides to keep quiet in front of one. Who knows, it might be carrying information back to CERES as they speak...not that they need to, what with the implants in people and all.]

I didn't activate mine.

[adminproof]

Mm. That may be for the better.

[ AND BEFORE HIS ROBOT GETS THE "WRONG" IDEA- ]

I suppose you are a rather self-sufficient person who does not require assistance of a robotic nature.

[ But again, that's a mere assumption, and Edgeworth is fully free to correct him. ]

You could say that.

[He gives a little nod. That's actually one of the reasons why he didn't bother switching it on.]

[ Totally has everything to do with wanting to be self-sufficient and absolutely nothing to do with CERES being shady yet again. Totally. ]

Ah, an admirable mindset...when not taken to an extreme, of course. However, speaking of assistance...

[ He turns to address his robot. ]

I need you to retrieve a parcel from my apartment. A part of a gift for one of the recipients here should still be on the living room table.

[ He...apparently forgot to bring the gift...to a birthday party. O.........kay...........

But at least the robot's gone, scurrying off as it's so so eager to carry out a task! Easier breathing (figuratively), right? ]

[Edgeworth watches the robot go. Who IS this guy who forgot to bring a present?? But anyway.]

I do have a roommate, at least.

Are they human?

[ Asking the important questions. One can never be too mindful of the other non-humans in this colony...himself included. ]

No, he's not.

[That's the short answer. There's a long answer.]

May I ask what he is, then?

[ Or is that too personal a question? He'll understand. Saiduq himself is not the most open alien. ]

[Honestly Edgeworth isn't sure he should be telling this to a stranger. And he says that much, not being very open himself.]

I'm not sure I'm at liberty to divulge that information, I'm afraid.
