[ This is the greeting given by the birthday girl. Ai's face is aglow with cheerfulness that couldn't be beat as she welcomes guests inside the Sanctuary where some nice music is playing. It's the most convenient place to set up a small party after all and there's even a few things to do for fun if one isn't sticking around just for congratulatory birthday greetings:

A) FOOD

Where there is Ai Thao, there is food. Lots of it. Starring a peach birthday cake made by the Man, the Legend, Chef Archer. Aside from those, there are some Vietnamese spring rolls, roasted meat, some healthy salads, and colorful cookies and drinks! (Hey, did someone bring hard cider to this party...???)

Ai might even collect your plates and clean up after you isn't she nice? Oh, that's not Ai, it's a robot who's taken on the same skin tone as her owner... Creepy. Ah well, at least it's being helpful although it might say every once and a while, "Thank you for coming to my birthday party!"

B) Piñatas

How cute, there's a few of these cute piñatas hanging around in the ceiling. When you try to bat one down for the sweet candy innards though, they are just out of your reach. Ai Thao (real one, not the similar looking skin robot) giggles because she's passing by you. Ah, she's the culprit. Those guys can't move on their own after all.

"Sorry, sorry! I couldn't help it."

Oh, so that's all... Actually hey wait, some of those piñatas ARE trying to run away?! Try to catch one, but these little bastards are pretty fast for cardboard full of candy.

C) KARAOKE

There is a TV screen, mics, a karaoke box and an endless selection of pop music in all languages. All of them. Try to belt out those tunes, serenade your loved one, get the highest score, no one's going home a winner anyways.

(Ai's robot is sitting at the machine and taking the mic, humming in a voice that sounds too similar for comfort...)

D) Late Evening

Let's settle down. Maybe chat and catch up with other people. It's a good a time as any right? The lights are low, the cake's been served, there's hot tea (and booze still???) and there's a lovely lamp projecting stars onto the walls. What a nice mood!

(It might make your robots, should they come to the party look rather eerie though, especially since they developed that layer of skin.)

[ The instant Charlie spotted the herd of piñatas, he thought "I have to enchant one of those." Imagine his surprise when they started moving around anyway.

Ah, right, their host is a psychic, isn't she? He's got to admit, she does good work.

So here we have one full grown wizard trying to chase down a moving piñata because he wants to see the full extent of what Ai's done to it. ]


[ D ]

[ This was a fun little event, and Charlie's found himself a nice place to sit as things wind down. (He will admit, however, he's keep a close eye on any of the robots around. Those things are freaky.)

As he's sitting, he idly traces a mark in the air with a finger, ice blue light flowing from his fingertip. When the mark is complete, an abandoned fork on the table next to him stands up on its prongs and begins waddling across the table.

This is apparently how Animators keep themselves entertained. ]

... Should I ask?

[ IT'S ALL OTOME REALLY SAYS, because there is a grown man chasing a piñata, and she's not quite sure where to begin. ]

[ YES, HE'S AWARE ]

You could always help instead.

[mombastic]

I could, but I feel somewhat sorry for the poor thing.

[animated]

I’m not gonna hurt it- [ it’s a piñata, Charlie ] -I just want to take a look at Ai’s handiwork.

[mombastic]

Well. Maybe you should try reverse psychology?

[ Maybe it will come to you instead (though she doubts it). ]

[animated]

[ Well, if nothing else, that makes him stop in his tracks. He turns and just gives her an incredulous look. ]

Reverse psychology. On a piñata.

[ Says the man chasing it around the room like a doof. ]

[mombastic]

Well, it's better than stalking it.

[animated]

Okay, if you're so smart, you do it.

[ He steps aside, motioning to the piñata like "go ahead, try your luck" ]

[mombastic]

Nope, this is your battle to fight.

[ NOT GONNA HAPPEN. ]

[Ai laughs at Charlie's attempt to grab a piñata she happens to be controlling. Look at its sick moves as it weaves between tables to get away from the wizard. Heck, she even makes it toss itself into the air into a mini barrel roll as it makes its escape.]

If you can catch it, I'll let you have all the candy inside! But be careful!

[ai you're not making it easy!?]

I’m not after it for the candy.

[ He stops his chasing for the moment, watching with raised eyebrows as the piñata barrel rolls away. ]

You do good work. I’m impressed.

[emotive]

[The glow of her eyes dim as she lets the piñata rest on the ground, against the wall.]

You're too kind! It's just basic telekinesis. I have to admit though, I'm usually not this carefree with it unless it's for free form practice.

[animated]

If you can’t have fun with it on your birthday, then when, right?

[ He wanders over to her, the piñata forgotten for the moment. ]

Do you have to be actively concentrating on it to move it around like that?

[emotive]

Ah, well the degree of concentration can vary. [She motions with her hands as she tries her best to explain.]

If I want to move something, it's best if it's within my line of sight. That said, I'm good at moving multiple things at the same time without having to overuse my energy.

[animated]

That's really impressive. I wouldn't be able to multitask like that if I were moving things with my brain.

[emotive]

It's a combination of having good concentration and... Well, trying not to think too hard about it if that makes sense. Like a psychic needs to tell themselves that there are physical limits, the mental limits can be pushed more.

Oh, but how about you? What kind of magic do you practice?

[animated]

Sounds way too complicated for me.

But I'm an Animator, which means I can enchant inanimate objects to do different things. I actually wanted to take a crack at one of those piñatas- no pun intended- but it seems you beat me to it.

[Don't mind this asshole watching the whole chase as he claps his hands togethe. HE'S BEING HELPFUL WITH CHEERS.]

[ Charlie’s had about enough of these shenanigans. The wizard raises a hand and etches out a rune in ice blue light with his fingertips. It’s an easy spell, and his motions are quick and practiced. Suddenly a chair slides over and topples onto its side in the piñata’s path. The piñata collides with it, and it buys Charlie enough time to snag it. ]

Oh... Was that magic? Cool!

[Hiro knew how to use magic, but not in the traditional sense. And he was far from an experienced magician. He mainly used it to survive and had no plans on becoming a pro.]

It was. [ He sweeps into a short bow, careful not to lose his grip on the piñata ]. Charlie Maxwell, resident wizard, at your service.

Hiro Kageyama! Guardian and hero of humanity at your service! [All said with a energetic fist pump.]

You know, given this place is what it is, I can't tell if that's hyperbole or not.

Well, I can tell you one thing. [Beat.] I am pretty hype.
