[Sano gives Souji time to process, though at first he's almost certain Souji doesn't remember his last stay at all. Which would be fine. Sometimes Sano wonders if that wouldn't be good for them, to just forget this place and start fresh every time, with only the bad memories from home to accompany them, instead of bad memories from here.

But then, it's not all bad to land back in this place already somewhat prepared, either, is it?

Yeah. I think we only met briefly last time, but the Shinsengumi tend to find each other around here, don't they?

[Sano offers a kind smile of his own, but just seeing Souji's expression is enough to break his heart. He's obviously suffering - and how couldn't he be, tuberculosis is the opposite of fun, Sano is sure - but he still has some positivity. It's not the same as the Souji Sano knows, whose smiles are rarely genuine.
