What: Duo bullies Heero in to moving in, and then has to make the apartment actually useable..
Rating/Warning: None? But it's Duo so it could always happen.

[ CLOSED ] FOR HEERO

"Listen, Heero, go pack up Wing and start sleepin' here. It makes no sense for me to have a bedroom I'm not even using anyways.." That's how all of this had started, anyways. At least before they'd gone to collect Heero's small collection of things, and had to carry them from one place to another. Thankfully Heero wasn't as much of a pack rack as he was, and the moving hadn't taken too long but.. the whole getting used to another body in his space might take a little while, again. Thankfully he was used to having Heero around, and he was a quiet roommate, so there wasn't much to bother with when it came to getting annoyed or anything stupid like that. Mostly, he's going to have to get used to having Wing and Deathscythe in one place and one apartment, which meant a little bit of chaos when they had first started settling in. Gundams messing around with each other started out cute -

Until thermal weapons started being used. And then it was a huge risk to life and limb.

Thankfully they'd been easily separated, and their weapons hidden away, and the apartment had settled in to a quiet place once again. At leat until Duo decided that it was dinner time, and -

"Heero? Any preference for dinner?"

[ OPEN ] IN THE STREETS

There's Duo, his backpack slung on his back as usual, filled with some of the things that Heero would let him carry, a box in his arms. They're moving like teenage boys on a mission, at least, but after the whole beach episode everyone seems to be out and about so.. it calls for a few stops and "excuse mes" from time to time. Or just, you know, the occasional bump in to someone if he was too busy trying to navigate around one person for avoiding another -

- So forgive him if he gives you a little jostle, ok?

 

 

[ OPEN ] GROCERY SHOPPING

Legitimately fresh fruits and vegetables are still such a novelty to a kid that's used to freeze dried or transported foods that were just.. not quite up to snuff for most people who had never lived on a space colony before. So, after he'd done helping his war buddy unpack and leaves him to get things organized as he wants them - he's back at the grocery stores and markets that he can find along the way, picking up and examining things and probably taking more than a few taste tests until -

Oops - bumping in to someone with a little grunt of surprise, dropping the pomegranate in his hands. "Shit - my bad! You didn't drop anything, did you?"

As she stared at said rop of hair, she attempted to make a braid of her own. While she could do it easily, it was always better to have someone else do it for her! At first, she was frustrated but she eventually gave up before putting all that hair on her back. Looks like she was going to spend a long time brushing that mess again!

"Really? Well no wonder you're an expert at it! Whenever I try to do it, it always ends up looking super messy!" She said before pointing to now somewhat fuzzy hair behind her. However, it didn't take her that long before her attention went back to Duo. Almost suddenly, her eyes widen before her her smile grew!

"Would you...? I would love if you could! Pretty please with lots and lots of sugar on top?!" Her hands were clasped together looking at Duo with anticipation. "I would love to make a brain train right now!"

.. okay. His hair has gotten a lot of attention over the years (mainly, sometimes, people thinking he was a girl with long hair or attempting to grab him by it) - but this was entirely new. Not really in a bad way, or anything like that, but more so.. in that he wasn't sure how to handle her, really. The enthusiasm was great, and everything, but it feels a little overwhelming in the same coin flip. So he takes a deep breath and reminds himself that there's no need to get so riled up by something so simple, and instead nods his answer to her first question, smiling lightly. "Yeah.. had to before I would go out and do my work for the day. Otherwise it would just be everywhere.."

"A brain train?" That's a little confusing - and slightly concerning - but he nods, giving a little twirl of his finger in a circle to indicate that she should turn around so that he could do a proper job of it.

"Yeah, I can. Just turn around for a sec and let me get everything back in place where it should be..."

And thus, Duo has encountered the same reaction most people would get from interacting with the girl. From her optimism to her eccentric behavior, it was only normal for people to stare at the peculiar girl. From the random people she met in Gravity Falls to the friends she made here, it didn't seem that strange to her. The only thing to do was simply go with the flow with this girl! Despite all of the odd stares, she didn't let it bother her. Instead, she kept the same smile on her face waiting for her new friend to respond right back!

"Yeah, a brain train! Where someone does my hair and then I do somebody else's hair! And thus, braid train!" She said before turning around and allowing Duo to make said braid.

As soon as he does so, girl simply smiled. While she can't turn around, her voice might say it all. "By the way, thanks for doing this! You're a pretty nice guy, you know! Don’t think I ever saw anyone willing to braid a kid’s hair before!"

Duo is no stranger to eccentric people - let's not even count Heero Yuy until there's been a time where someone's hung out with Howard for a long time. They might be an odd bunch at the Sweepers, but Duo enjoyed it. There was never a boring day, whether they were in space or on Earth, when he was with Howard and the crew. Which made the tensions of war and post war a little bit easier to deal with, if he was honest.

"Oh - " He's grateful that she turns around. That way at least Mabel couldn't see or possibly figure out how much he didn't really.. want to be involved in a braid train. Someone else's hands in his hair was just not something he was down for, but considering she was turned around he had some time to consider how he was going to worm his way out of the return braid if that's what she had her mind set on. Carefully, Duo works his fingers through her hair, working to untangle anything that might be tangled up before carefully separating out what he needed to start the braid, kind of like a short french braid. That way it had a strong base. Of course that might not be as important for Mabel, but... Duo, in his situations, needed for his braid to not fall out mid-mission.

"It's not a big deal... isn't like it's gonna take me a long time.. " In fact, he's already done weaving that french braid together and is working down the length with a practiced speed and precision. "I do this way too often for it to be too hard to do."

While Mabel definitely wanted to return the favor and brain his hair in return, she won't do it if he didn't want to. Sure, it would be great if she could but she didn't want to make a new friend mad. Although, it sure felt different having someone else braid her hair for the first time in 3 months. After spending all that time in Gravity Falls, she was use to doing her own hair. With Dipper refusing and Grunkle Stan was always busy, she was left to her own accord. Even if her hair always looked messy doing so and having to repeat it multiple times before giving up.

Then again, with so many adventures she been on, creating a lasting braid wasn't exactly a top priority. Although, it would make things a lot more interesting being cute and a badass girl who can kick some butt. In the middle of doing said braid, she just smiled to herself. "Then you're like some super omega pro at braiding! I wish I could have your skills though because it would sure make me look like an awesome adventure seeking girl!" She said before attempting to feel the braid. "Not that I already don't but the braid just makes me look cooler!"

That and she may or may not be referencing a certain video game woman who also has an awesome braid behind her.
