[OPEN] "I, too, am capable of such feats...?"

What: Kaguya gets back to training because a new location doesn't mean dropping into bad habits, and explores the city. And gets lost.

[Just because she's gotten kidnapped to a strange new world and all doesn't mean Kaguya can slack off. She doesn't know what a 'gym' is or anything like that, so her idea for 'training' starts and ends with 'I need an open enough space.' So with a little trial and error she finds her way back to the park area and gets to work. She's quite a sight to watch, and not just because she's back in her regular clothes. Modern clothes were nice, but she was used to...you know. More.

Bamboo trees sprout from the ground, whipping up a frenzy as Kaguya leaps from tree to tree, waving her hand to keep them coming. She dances really, weaving around and between as they smack at her and dart up from nothing, hardly disturbing the ground (and leaving no trace they were even there once they disappear). Her three hand mirrors whirl about her in a frenzy of lights-- are those lasers??

(Yes. Yes they are.)

But worry not! Even if you manage to get close enough to be struck by one of the laser, it'll pass harmless through you--after all, she's not focused on hurting/killing anything living (that's not, you know, a bamboo tree). Every once i na while a whirlwind sweeps up around her to send more trees flying or falling (watch your head!!)

She pauses on top of one of the bamboo trees, the picture of stillness before she makes the tree disappear with a wave of her hand and drops harmlessly to the earth once more. She straightens and smooths out her clothes, the bells on the end finally beginning to jingle a bit as she brushes herself off.

NOTHING TO SEE HERE THIS WAS NORMAL. She doesn't even seem to have broken a sweat.]

[Alright well.

She's lost. There's no if, ands, or buts about it, she's totally lost and wandering further and further into the badder parts of the city. The bright lights and colors are still dazzling to her, and unfortunately she's charmed enough to not figure out that there are really some places she should not be going.

You know, like wandering near back-alleys and such.

Eventually she stops to finally ask someone. Maybe she ducks into your place of work, or maybe she stops you right on the street?? Either way the little mystic looks very apologetic to be disturbing you] Excuse me...? I do not wish to be a bother, I am dreadfully sorry, but... It appears I am quite lost. I am not even sure of where I am at the moment... May I please endeavor you to point me in the right direction?

[after kaguya is back on the ground, the sound of clapping can be heard from not too far away. adelina takes a few steps towards her, a genuinely fascinated smile on her face. she's always been prone to curiosity, and while she's seen many amazing feats, she can't say she's witnessed anything like this. it's captured her interest, to say the least.]

That was incredible. What manner of magic was it, if I might ask?

Lady Adelina. [Kaguya bows in greeting and straightens with a smile, resting her sakaki wand in the crook of her arm]

Thank you for the kind words. [She can't help but blush, a little embarrassed and pleased] My fellow mystics can do more impressive things, I assure you, but many of us excel in different magic areas.

Wind, bamboo, and these mirrors just happen to be mine. I really do have a long way to go before I am comparable to the others. [Modest as ever.]

[instinctively, she gives a curtsy in response to kaguya's bow.]

I think you underestimate yourself, if I may say so. While I obviously haven't had the pleasure of watching anyone else from your world perform magic, that was quite impressive.

Your mirrors... May I ask how they work?

Your praise is music to my ears, my lady. I would say that I hope I can show you more at a later time, but that would imply hardship and fighting in our future.

[Which she's pretty sure there already will be, but why court disaster like that??

At the question Kaguya tilts her head and holds out her hands, letting one of the mirrors floating gently into it. She gestures for Adelina to come closer]

These are holy mirrors. I can channel my power through them. [The mirror glows brightly and a beam of light shoots skyward briefly before disappearing again just as quickly.] I am not sure if I can go into details, for it is difficult to explain. It just... does.

[Darin had taken it upon himself to get a 'lay of the land' so to speak. This new world was so bright and vivid (hah!) and full of so many things he couldn't yet wrap his head around. But parks he understood, and this place seemed nice and peaceful enough to relax. Hell, he could use a nap. And nothing beats a park as a best place to take a nap!]

[Except this particular park seems to be full of that little known plant scientifically known as spontaneous bamboo. And it's attacking that woman!]

[None of that makes sense, but Darin draws his dao and prepares to step forward when...well...]

[This girl doesn't seem to need any help. In fact, she's beating back that spontaneous bamboo pretty amazingly.]

[When all is said and done, Darin starts applauding.]

Whoa! You really showed those trees who's boss!

[Having not expected an audience, Kaguya tenses in surprise and immediately looks embarrassed.]

Thank you, but I... It was really just... [She trails off, at a loss for words, and shakes her head.] I did not bother you, did I?

[Maybe he wanted to use this place to train? Did she take his spot??]

Are you kidding me? You just saved me the trouble of grabbing a nap in a park where the trees straight up attack you. You did me a service!

And, if you don't mind me saying, you're pretty damn nimble.

[Darin drops his hands to rest them on his hips, very matter-of-factly.]

I've never seen someone fight so gracefully. Makes me look like I'm just hacking timber.

Oh-- [She looks embarrassed] I created those trees. I did not want to destroy any actual property, and I did not want to ask someone to fight with me, so... It was the next best thing I could think of.

[Her blushing continues to grow at the praise too and she smiles] You flatter me, my lord.

You created--

[It's that last bit that throws him. 'My Lord?' He's not a lord! He's not even a duke or a count or anything else!]

L-Lord?!

W-Whoa! No no no. I'm...I'm no lord...!

I'm just...I'm...y'know...

[Okay, pull it together...]

My name's Darin Altway. Just a humble master blacksmith, pleased t'make your acquaintance.

[He smiles. He just had to throw in that 'master' part. Well, at least he can't be accused of underselling himself.]

Even a humble blacksmith deserves the utmost respect that I can give. [That's Kaguya's humble little answer and she smiles reassuringly.

But she finishes with a grand bow] I am Kaguya, pleased to meet you Lord Altway. And yes, I created those trees you saw. [Since she has a feeling that's where his question was going earlier. She smiles again, albeit sheepishly]

A-Ah geez...you're making me blush!

[Wow...Lord Altway sounded really cool. He runs his hand through his spiky blue hair bashfully and laughs.]

H-Hey now...I appreciate the respect, but please feel free to call me just Darin. I've never been one for titles.

You can create trees though? I've never heard of magic like that! How does it work?

[UNCOMFORTABLE... But it'd be ruder to insist on doing otherwise at this point, right? Caught by the traps of her own overpoliteness, Kaguya mutely nods. Maybe she can just somehow avoid ever saying his name again...]

How...? Hmm. [Kaguya tilts her head and looks thoughtful] I am not sure how to explain it, I'm afraid. It is just something I have always been able to do. It does not work with every type of tree however, just bamboo.

[She waves her hand and a tree pops up beside her, just to her waist and she pats the top of it fondly.] Do you know magic?

Still...I've never seen magic like that! Back in my world, magic followed the four principle elements. Occasionally they could be combined, but I'd never seen someone who could just make trees sprout from the ground at will!

[Darin relaxes on his heels a bit and crosses his arms behind his head.]

Nah, magic's never really been my thing. You usually need to be born with the aptitude and I was never really tested. Besides, I much prefer using weapons to magic. [He turns a bit to show Kaguya the impressive dao sheathed across his lower back.]

You seem pretty experienced in both, though!

I see, how impressive! [She means it too, and she looks pleased. She always finds human progression interesting and charming, and the different ways they adapt.]

My mirrors are my weapons, but even they rely on my magic. I have not been formally trained in any practical weapons... I am sure I could hit something with my mirrors if my powers were ever cut off from me, at least.

Is that what those things I saw were? Mirrors?

How do they work? I've been forging weapons my entire life and I've never seen anything like those...

[She holds her hand out and one of the mirrors floats gently into it, allowing her to hold it with the reflective side facing up.]

I do not know how to explain it, exactly. I simply channel my power through it, like so. [THe mirror's surface glows and a beam of light shoots up skyward briefly before it disappears again and the mirror is still.]

I suppose forging a magic weapon would be different from forging a normal one, would it not?

[Sorry Kaguya. Hopefully you don't worry very much about your personal space because if you're giving Darin the opportunity to inspect a magical weapon he's going to get up close and personal.]

[In fact, his eyes are positively alight. The passion and excitement and open curiosity are all over his face right now. He's hovering about her hand, eagerly moving his hands about hers both wanting to tough the mirror and resisting the urge out of politeness.]

So...it's magical...? It's a mirror for sure but...then where does it draw its power from...? Is there a catalyst? Does it draw from the wielder...? If so, then how? Is it attuned to the wielder...?

Regardless...the craftsmanship is impeccable...! I've heard of smiths who could make magical weapons using some...lost magic or artform but I've never seen it in person...!

[He's as much talking to himself as he is to her, in a hushed, awed voice.]

[Phoenix doesn't frequent this part of town that often. He swears he was only here to see if he could find any good sources of information around, but his search came up dry. He did halt as a woman dressed in a unusual style approached him.]

Um... Sure, I'd be glad to help! What kind of direction are we looking for, Miss?

[Kaguya looks relieved and smiles gently, albeit sheepishly.]

The apartment towers? And... if it is not too much trouble, someplace I can go for food...? [She looks so embarrassed] I really am sorry to bother you with such requests.

[Aw, she's too adorable. He nods along with her requests and tries to wave away her embarrassment.]

Hey, don't worry about it! It's a big and confusing city... We all get lost in it every now and then.

But this works out well. I'm heading back to the apartments anyway, so I'll lead the way! And there's some good food options along the way, too.

I have never been in a city like this before... Not up close like this. [Fighting along the rooftops probably didn't really count??

But she bows deeply at his generous offer of escorting her, pleased beyond words] Thank you, my lord. I am in your debt. My name is Kaguya, please allow me to repay the favor some day.

You haven't, huh? [He strokes at his chin. Well, it does seem obvious with how old-school her attire looks.] Well this place manages to be full of surprises even for us 'city folk'.

[Oh, a bow. How does he deal with that? After a moment of uncertainty, he gives an awkward half-bow in exchange.]

Nice to meet you, Kaguya! But don't worry about any repayment - it's no problem at all for me! And I'm no lord... I'm Phoenix Wright. You can just call me Phoenix!

It would not be polite of me to refer to you otherwise, Lord Wright. [WHy does everyone keep trying to tell her otherwise why does this keep happening.]

But yes, I have heard that even for people used to strange things happening, this city manages to go above and beyond expectations--and not always in good ways. [Kaguya frowns lightly, considering it all.]

It is a little overwhelming, but I cannot hide in my home all day. I will have to learn the city layout sooner rather than later...

[Lord Wright... I feel like a comic book villain!]

Um... if you say so. [He doesn't want to challenge what's comfortable to her.] Then I should be polite to match - Lady Kaguya!

[Phoenix nods along with her point.]

Well, it's brave of you to try. [She must have really gotten lost to end up in this part of town...] I guess that I could be your tour guide for now!

[She looks pleased, and since nearly everyone refers to her as 'Lady Kaguya' or 'Princess Kaguya' or some variation, she's comfortable with the address.]

Thank you very much, I am in your debt. If we find a place to eat, I will gladly pay for your share, should you also wish to partake. It is not much, but for now I hope it will suffice.

Please, lead the way and I will follow.

Hey, you don't have to worry about paying me back or anything! [As refreshing as it sounds for someone else to be paying for my meal for once as opposed to the reverse...] It's fine.

Now, for starters, we have to gooooo... [He starts to move, but then he paused as he nervously glanced around. ...He's having trouble now remembering which direction he came from.]

[Eiji's really not supposed to be out there either, but it's supposed to be a shortcut and he's kind of regretting it too. Luckily his trusty candroids are floating around him, making sure he doesn't get into trouble!]

Huh? Um, okay. I'm mostly passing through, anyway.

[sorry hold on is there a person talking because these floating octopus things are Too Cute and Kaguya is utterly charmed as she watches one] How adorable!

[Oh right, she asked a thing, someone responded... She turns her attention back on him, looking a tad embarrassed for her wandering attention]

Are you lost as well...?

[It's okay, Eiji gets distracted by cute things easily too. He's grinning.]

Not really, I don't think. Just, this was supposed to be a shortcut and it's taking me longer than if I'd gone straight. My friend's going to be mad if he finds out.

Where are you trying to go?

Will he? [She tilts her head curiously, wondering just why. Because he's going to be late? Her brows furrow in concern] I am not keeping you from a meeting, am I?

I am simply trying to find my way back to the apartment buildings. And perhaps some place to get food and things as well. But everything is so bright, I continue to be turned every which way except the way I want to go, it seems.

No, it's just...I've gotten myself in trouble before, going off alone like this.

[But hearing this, he smiles.]

That's where I'm heading too--the apartments, at least. I can help walk with you, if you need.

Trouble seems attracted to some people more than others... [She can think of a few other people who likely can't take two steps outside their door without something happening.]

You are most generous, my lord, thank you. I will gladly take you up on that offer, if you have the time to spare. I am starting to wonder if I will ever memorize the layout of this place...

Really? [He rubs at the back of his neck. That kind of seems to describe his life, actually.]

Oh, no, it's... [Don't call him "lord," it's just so weird.] I'm Hino Eiji. And of course I'll help.

[ He actually hasn't gone out all that much, frankly for multiple reasons while trying to settle in, but a park is always somewhere a lot more relaxing compared to the city bustle. Kirkwall had always been busy with people, and the Inquisition was starting to pick up, but neither aren't anything compared to this.

Seeing her in the park though adds a little relief, because she's a familiar face amongst a faceless crowd.

He's seen her teleport before, but the rest of this is bizarre. ]

Training? [ It's the only thing he says in greeting once she lands again, more than a little impressed with her abilities. Solas, Vivienne, Dorian and even the Inquisitor have some fairly impressive abilities magic wise, but this is completely different. ]

[She turns in surprise to face him, but her expression quickly turns pleased as she recognizes him] Lord Cullen. [She greets him with a bow, shallower than usual only because she remembers his discomfort with her overly courtly manners (not in enough time to stop herself from doing a bow, but she's trying...)

She straightens and makes her way over, smiling lightly] I am pleased to see you made it to the city safely. [Oh, wait, he asked a question, didn't he?]

I was, yes. It is not much, but... [She looks a tad embarrassed, her tone humble as ever] I hope I did not disturb you?

You as well. It wasn't exactly the easiest puzzle to solve.

[ Basically getting swallowed by a whale was never a fun adventure. ]

You didn't. It was interesting to watch. Have you always been able to do that?

I am not sure it counts as a puzzle being solved when the answer was something like that. [She laughs gently, hiding her mouth behind one sleeve as she smiles.]

I have, yes. I do not remember my childhood much, but I suppose I did not know how to use them then. When I returned to the mystic realm I was able to learn the full extent. [She glances down at the sakaki sand, her expression a little nostalgic] I was not one for battle, but such things became necessary to learn.

[Kaguya straightens and shakes her head, because there's no use being sad about it; killing and fighting had become unfortunately necessary as of late in her world, even if she wasn't fond of it. She had her duty, and she would stick to it.] And you, my lord? I believe you mentioned before that you were a commander. [She looks curious about that.]

Well it wasn't straightforward. [ If it had been, there would have been a door with an obvious EXIT sign. ]

That's usually the case with battles. Most people are happy enough to live in peace, but those close to conflict know there's so much that has to be done to keep the balance.

[ Though he pauses briefly at that. ] It's a little ...complicated. [ And here he'll casually omit some information, sorry Kaguya. ]

Though I have been assigned a group of soldiers to train, hopefully soon enough we'll have more on their way.

[Kaguya looks faintly pained and closes her eyes for a moment.] Yes, unfortunately that is true. It is a pity that sometimes the horrors of war must be fought through in order for peace to be obtained. So much sacrifice...

[She opens her eyes and gestures off with a gentle smile] Will you walk with me, my lord? [She doesn't mind if he's being vague-- while her operation isn't nearly so secret, she understands that others might not wish to talk so freely about it.]

If there is one thing I have learned about humanity, it is that even the smallest of numbers can turn the tide and do great things. I have full faith in you and your companions. [Not that Kaguya knows him or his fellows at all, but she says it with the most heartfelt sincerity]

I can think of no better companions to have at my side than the humans I have met and have joined my army. They are all very brave... [She's so fond of them]
