[The Shopping District's a pretty busy place, right? People are always moving around, talking, buying things-- Surely, no one's going to notice if a girl just glitches and appears out of thin air, right?]

[Well, in any case, this glitch is quickly identified to be an odd-looking teenaged girl - that is to say, Maya, and upon appearing, she pretty much just crumples to the ground]

[Except-- aside from pulling herself up to a sitting position, she doesn't seem to be making any efforts to get up or talk to anyone. In fact, she looks.... upset? Wow, is that even possible???]

[So your options here are: check this weird scene out, keep walking, throw something at her, or any other option. Be creative!!]

[Well, you're minding your own business! Trying to get wherever you're going!! HARK, there is a small teenage girl, directly in your path.]

Okay, Maya, one foot after the other.... two feet after the other... three feet after.... wait, that doesn't make sense.

[She's coming towards you! If you don't move fast, she's going to crash directly into you, or topple over and take you down with her]

phase iii - speaking of watch your step;

[On that note, there's another option. You, once again, are trying to conduct your business, getting home, checking on your friends, trying to go somewhere, whatever. But down, on the ground, is said weirdo teenage girl, and she appears to be crawling very slowly... on her hands and knees, in some direction. Okay. That's all fine and weird, but every so often, she freezes up, her eyes widen, and then she reaches for whatever's closest (which is probably your ankle, but can be: bench, a cleaning robo, or... anything else, really) as if trying to put her hand through it.]

[Obviously, this does not work out for her, because these things are all solid objects]

[After Athena told Edgeworth that Maya disappeared, he did not expect to see her materialize right in the middle of a bookstore. Sorry, instead of catching him at the comic shelves, he's in the thriller mystery novel aisle and he's so shocked that he actually jumps back and sees what - or rather, who - popped in on his shopping time.]

What the - Maya?!

[He sets aside the book he had been looking at and extends a hand for her.] Are you all right?

[Fortunately (?), Maya doesn't seem to notice how much she made him jump. She doesn't seem to notice much of anything. Up until he holds his hand out to her, she has this complete look of blankness on her face--]

[Until she looks up and sees the outstreched hand, then hears him talk]

[Aaaaand she's suddenly hyperaware that he's there and addressing her.]

[Which means she's ignoring his outstretched hand, and attempting -- and failing--- to stumble to her feet]

[What was wrong with her? Edgeworth withdraws his hand and instead reaches out to grab her under her arms and haul her up onto her feet.

You know he's worried when he takes that matter into his own hands, literally. He picks up what she said after that moment when she looked as though she was in a daze. Two of the names ring very loud bells. Even for someone who doesn't always get names right.]

The... Nexus Code? [she has no idea what the area she was in was called, so it doesn't ring a bell. But as she's starting to get, arguably, her senses back, her eyes widen and she looks genuinely afraid, for the first time since getting here.]

I... Wherever it is, I have to get back! They're going to disappear if I don't--!

[Edgeworth places his hand on her back to steady her when she sways.]

The Nexus Code is supposedly where people who disappear from the colony go. Yes...like Prosecutor Gavin and Justice. We were sent there once.
