[ knock knock, who's there? it's the worst knock knock joke of all time: this guy! congratulations, Hamada brothers. to be fair, you did invite him.

you may not have invited this mysterious bird thing, though. consider it a bonus. you know, the kind of bonus that makes you relive someone else's profoundly awful and traumatizing memories when it touches you. it'll be fun!

for real, though, he's knocking. how is this the first time he's ever been to his best friend's house? he really needs to get out more. ]

[There are already too many birds in this house!!! And by too many we mean one because Hiro's bird is hopping along behind him as he moves to answer the door. After...everything, they figured it was probably a nice idea to just hang out without potentially getting themselves killed. The apartment had been resized after they (and Ruby) had knocked out the wall between the place Hiro was renting and the place Tadashi was renting.

And anyway, Hiro seemed to be of the opinion that both Levi and Tadashi kind of suck about just hanging out and spending time together, so here they are. He's quick to open the door after that.]

Hey dude, come on in. Tadashi's in the main room. ["Main room", of course, being code for the giant-ass living room they now have that's twice the size of a normal room. Tada.]

[ he's been hearing whispers of death all around him and has a cat following him around, so it hasn't been all that pleasant. and then add the fact that he sees his and hiro's parents here and there, it's really been a very disturbing month. tadashi's been stressed. but it's nice to cool down a bit and just "hang out" with his friend and brother, even if it'll end up not being so cool soon after.

at the very least, he doesn't look all that stressed out today! he's fixed himself up so as not to worry both hiro and levi, and when he does hear the knock on the door, he gets up on his feet, too. he's just been fiddling with a random small trinket he's been making while waiting, and it's that that he waves with his hand when he sees levi. ]

[ he briefly peeks back over his shoulder to see if his bird is still following him. as it waddles into the apartment, he sighs. ]

Are either of you being followed around by a b—

[ and then he's hit by how huge their apartment is. holy shit. it's not really an envy thing because he's definitely a minimalist who doesn't need a lot of space, but it's still pretty impressive. he blinks, glancing between Hiro and Tadashi. ]

Wow. Didn't know you could even get one this big.

[He hears the beginning of Levi's question of course but he's more fixated on grinning widely once he comments on the state of their apartment. He's far too pleased and he's heading back for the main room where he'd been playing what's probably the equivalent of a PS Vita on one of the couches.]

We knocked out one of the walls! [He's way, way too happy about that...] Ruby helped us a couple of days ago once we figured out where the framing was so the whole thing wouldn't collapse. It didn't make sense for us to keep a one-bedroom place when I was still renting another apartment.

[...were you asking a question, Levi? Tadashi might need to take over.]

[ he laughs a bit and moves to pocket his hands as he walks towards levi. he looks back at the main room with a smile. ]

The rent's double since it's practically two apartments, but I think it's fine.

[ that's... about as enthusiastic as he gets. sorry, guys. but their apartment is mostly clean; there are only... hmmm... six or seven things he immediately notices? a little dust here, a stray wrapper over there... nothing especially heinous. but perhaps you boys might consider hiring a maid such as himself? you know, if you want your apartment to be clean enough to perform major surgery in.

think about it.

he catches sight of his bird in the corner of his eye. ah, yes, where was he? ]

You guys aren't being followed around by a weird bird, are you?

[To be fair that's more enthusiasm than he's used to from Levi sometimes so he'll take it. As long as he doesn't try to start picking up some of the empty energy drink cans or doing their dishes it's totally fine.

It's the question that catches him off-guard and he stares for a moment before slowly nodding.]

It's been trying to nest in my hair but it can't fly high enough to reach. You too?

[ levi, please. control yourself. it's clean enough!!! it's fine. ]

I have a cat. Not as big as Mochi, but-- [ ah, it seems that that offends mochi a bit, which is why the fat cat emerges from under the couch to meow really loudly. it makes tadashi squint as he looks back at the cat, but it's short lived as she just laughs about it soon after. ]

Guess he doesn't like being called big.

[ nothing is ever clean enough!!

kitty is a new development, though, and he eyes Mochi curiously. ]

I didn't know you had a cat.

[ hmm... he kneels down. maybe fatass kitty will come to say hi. ]

A real one, even.

[Levi being close to the ground is enough for Mochi to be just as curious and he casually saunters his way over and flicks his tail at Levi's hand. Love him. Pet him. The cat pauses long enough to also turn his head and push against Levi's hand, a purr emitting from his throat.

And Hiro stays on the couch and rolls his eyes.]

He came with me to the colony but we're not really sure why. I found him waiting for me the first time I logged out of ViViD. [A snort.] He is pretty big though. [But he tilts his head curiously in thought.] Tadashi's got a cat and I have a bird and some of my friends have foxes. If there's more of them, I don't know what they are yet.

[bropane]

Goats, [ he says casually. there's a bit of an awkward pause there before he continues, too. ] I mean, the others have a goat following them around, too.

[ but, okay, levi, he'll leave you and hiro with the cat for a moment as he heads to the kitchen to grab a drink. ]

Nobody's figured out what exactly these animals mean, though— [ his voice is loud enough to hear from the kitchen, at least. ] You guys want anything?

[ Mochi will receive the pets he so desires. look at that, they're already friends. how heartwarming.

...he's juuust a tad better with animals than he is with people, if it isn't completely obvious. ]

No, I'm fine, thanks.

[ after calling back to Tadashi, he turns his attention to Hiro. ]

I'm assuming your bird doesn't really do anything, either.

Nah. [That's to Tadashi, but it also answers Levi's question. Mochi's far too pleased and Hiro's far too curious about these birds. Why he and Levi both have birds he hasn't quite tuned into yet.] I mean it chirps a lot when it gets mad I'm moving too fast for it, and it can sorta fly but not really well. And there's the whole...memory thing.

[He's saying this loud enough for Tadashi to hear, too, in case he wants to chime in.]
