[open] TEST YOUR MIGHT
Who: Yusuke Urameshi
fingerbanged & YOU!
When: IC: 8/2
Where: A really, really bad Street Fighter knock-off in ViViD
What: The past few weeks and the disappearance of a friend have been rough on Yusuke, so he's taking his frustration out in the best way he knows how-- punching things. Unfortunately, with CERES machinery on the fritz, it seems like there's new (and not entirely willing) challengers being glitched into his level of Ultra Alley Brawlers...
Rating/Warning: RATED Y FOR YUSUKE aka heavy chances of violence, bad language, blood, and everything else that comes with sticking a hot-blooded shonen protagonist in a fighting game-- also potential embarrassing outfits
[So you may be minding your own business, happily playing some innocent ViViD game such as Cybuddy Raiser or Gourmet Mother, or you're in the middle of labor-intensive RPG-style session, about to finally hit that desired stat level and take on the regional boss. Or you may even just be hanging around the ViViD Center, taking a break from the energy draining effects of the machines before jumping back into the fray again.
Suddenly, the area around you shifts and pixelates, stuttering and glitching for a moment or two, before it corrects itself, and-- wait a moment. This wasn't where you were before! Instead, you're looking out at one of these slightly grainy surroundings, while the dulcet sounds of this beautiful song blares all around you. Thankfully, your attire remains the same-- unless you're one of the unfortunate few whom the game had decided needed an outfit adjustment. But it's okay! High-cut leotards are great for kicking!
Like a large, blinking sign, the words A NEW CHALLENGER HAS APPEARED flashes above your head, before vanishing into thin air, replaced by a time slowly counting down from 90. Before you can really dwell on what those words mean, however, the loud sound of pounding feet rushes in your direction, a young man in this get-up charging towards you, fist cocked and ready to fight.
... you may want to do something about that.]
[tl;dr, welcome to the not!Street Fighter simulator! It's up to you if you want your character to be glitched into a weird fighter-game outfit, keep their normal attire, or change into some alt outfit from canon! If your character isn't a fighter, that's okay! There's handicaps in place, and, given how ViViD likes to mess with things, your character can easily be super strong or super weak given how you want the interactions to go! There's potential for final boss fights and bonus modes (as well as time-up 'draws'), so go wild! If you want to hash anything out or plot, hit me up at

[Except, no it's not. Because this looks decidedly unlike a fishing simulator.]
[He's in his normal attire but...his dao is missing. And he's got these really cool wraps around his hands. And...a headband? That's constantly flowing in the wind? He doesn't even feel wind. He doesn't even feel a breeze.]
Huh...well, the music is catchy...wait, what does that say...?
[It's around this time that Darin turns and sees the fist flying for his head.]
[Which he dodges by doing a ridiculous backflip and backpedaling away.]
W-WHAT THE HELL, MAN?! WHO JUST RUSHES SOMEONE AND TRIES TO SUCKERPUNCH THEM?!
no subject
... and then the voice and the face all register, and Yusuke can't help making a Face. Talk about a disappointment.]
Oh jeez. YOU? I thought you got suffocated by that stupid sand castle!
[The time was ticking, however, so he was going to have to banter and fight at the same time. Yusuke charges towards him again, hoping to swoop in for a sweep to knock him off his feet.]
That's called making the first attack, dumbass! Don't go hopping into these things if you don't got a clue what to do!
no subject
Butthead?! Are you serious?!
[Now that he's on guard, Darin quickly jumps over Yusuke's head to his opposite side. He spins and kicks out, his heel reaching at about his waist, but hopefully Yusuke's head is still where it was supposed to be.]
I didn't want to play a damn fighting game! This isn't what I wanted at all! I just wanted to kick back, relax, and do some fishing!
But if you're so hellbent on fighting, Butthead, I can just as easily let of some steam on you!
[That sounded wrong, but Darin just doesn't care.]
no subject
The name's not Butthead, Blue Balls! Get it right, already!
[And without missing a beat, his left knee rockets up, hoping to nail Darin in the gut while he still has the other man's leg in his grasp.]
no subject
[That knee connects squarely with Darin's gut. It's definitely strong enough to knock the wind out of him and he hunches over.]
[Then, a grin creeps across his face and he hooks his arm under the cook of Yusuke's knee. With the two of them each holding each other's leg firmly, they're locked pretty tight.]
If Butthead ain't your name...I guess I'll have to beat the real one out of ya!!
OOORRRRYYYAAAAAAHHHH!!!
[Darin jumps and pivots his body with a quick snap, sending his other leg up and around. With his waist as the pivot point, his leg swings around in an attempt at a take down. With any luck, he can catch Yusuke in the side of the head and when they land, lock him with his two legs.]
[Though he's likely to have some trouble considering Yusuke's abnormal strength. Not that Darin's much of a slouch.]
[This is actually kind of fun...]
no subject
[Wait, what the hell, did he just capture his leg too?? Maybe that was a bad move on his end, placing his own limb so close to the other guy's hands, but-- admittedly, it was a good move. Not that he was about to admit it right now, of course.
Before he can struggle out of the hold, however, Darin executes his move, his foot smashing into the side of his face with surprising force. Yusuke's onto the ground before he knows it, the pain and insistent ringing flooding through his head. Yeah, that DEFINITELY took off a chunk of HP, at the very least.
But he wasn't about to let himself be pinned by this dumbass, and, ignoring the slight dizziness, he shoots his upper-body up, rapidly punching anything and everything around him. He might not be able to move, but that also means Darin was stuck with him too.]
no subject
[He's completely unprepared for the assault. He certainly can't dodge or block in time, and the speed of those punches was insane. So, Darin fell back on instinct for this one. He relaxed his frame and waited the barrage out. Sure, it hurt like hell, but Darin could weather this much. His frame rattled and shook with each successful punch, his head snapping back each time a blow connected with his head.]
[But he was watching. Yusuke might notice that despite the beating he's taking, he's clearly waiting for a moment of hesitation. A gap in the assault.]
no subject
... and truthfully, the way Darin was riding out this barrage was almost like how Toguro did a long time back, but the way Yusuke was strapped, he couldn't exactly jump away before the other guy got any ideas. He had to find a way to get out of this leg hold, and fast.
Pausing for just a moment, Yusuke switches gears and aims a fist towards Darin's stomach instead, hoping to knock him off just enough so he can wiggle free. Let's hope it was quick enough to avoid whatever Darin had up his sleeve.]
1/2
[In an instant, he's up on his feet. About two seconds or so, actually. Then he lunges forward and throws is arms out to either side. With any luck, as Yusuke kicked back up, he's catch him in a grapple. He lunges forward and swipes his arms towards his target...]
[When his arms start flashing. He brings them in quickly because what the hell why are they flashing when a disc-like projectile fires from them straight at Yusuke.]
[He also blurts out, as if compelled by a higher power to do so]
SONIC BOOM!!
2/2
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
[And then he looks at his hands like they're not even his anymore.]
[And starts screaming again.]
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
no subject
The dodge and maneuver out of Yusuke's attack was impressive, and for a split second, he wonders if he may actually enjoy this brawl after all. Clearly there was more to this guy than meets the eye, given his resilience and fighting skill, though his personality was still a pain in the ass.
He rolls back as Darin moves off of him, shifting into a more battle ready position to try to counter and block whatever else he had planned. However, his eyes nearly pop out of his head as those energy discs shoot his way, hastily flipping to the side and landing in a crouch to avoid it. So he had spirit powers too, then?? But if that was the case, why didn't he sense anything from him?
Before he could muse on it further, Darin's yelling nearly causes him to jump, startled by the abrupt shift in mood.]
Jeez, man, what the HELL?! You acted like you just cut off your nuts or something!
no subject
[Darin stares at his arms, then starts swinging them wildly. Nope, nothing's coming out now.]
A-All I did was block for a couple of seconds...then try and grapple you...!
[Which he re-enacts. And suddenly...]
SONIC BOOM!!
[The discs fly out of his arms again and Darin stares wide-eyed.]
[And then...a grin slowly creeps onto his face.]
Hehehehe...
1/2
Alright, that's great that you're learning new stuff about yourself and all, but can we get back to the match? The timer's ticking.
[He readies himself to rush Darin again, fist drawn back--]
no subject
HADOUKEN!
[As soon as the words leave his lips, however, Yusuke gapes, looking incredulously at his hands and then at the mass of energy he just shot.]
CRAP! I DIDN'T MEAN TO DO THAT!
no subject
[Darin throws his arms up to try and shield his eyes...but that motion follows the blocking motion from before.]
[Which means...]
SONIC BOOM!!!
[Another disc fires out and hits the ball of energy, both attacks connecting and cancelling each other out.]
[Darin looks on, shocked...but then he starts spamming his newfound 'ability.'
SONIC BOOM!! SONIC BOOM!! SONIC BOO--SONIC BOO--SONIC--SONIC--SONIC--SONIC BOOM!!!
no subject
[But before he could freak out further (because how could he have fired that much spirit energy and not know it), Darin's new move cancels it out. Part of him wanted to be relieved, since roasting this guy with a salvo of his energy was NOT what he wanted to do, but part of him was shocked that he was strong enough to disperse it. Was he that powerful?
... given the way he's starting to go overboard with his attack, however, prrrrobably not. Dodging that many was going to be a pain in the ass, and if this thing was canceled out by his spirit energy, then he had to bring out the big guns. Drawing his fist back again, quickly glowing blue with energy, he thrusts it forward, sending out a barrage of explosive blasts.]
SHOT GUN!!
[Hopefully these smaller shots would do the trick?]
no subject
Man...I don't know what game this is...but I'm starting to get tired of it...
[He straightens up and cracks his back.]
What do you say we bring this to a close, Butthead...?
no subject
His eyebrow raises, however, at the other man's suggestion, and he props his hands to his hips, giving a sharp snort.]
Y'know, girls don't like guys who finish early, Blue Balls.
[But there's a wry grin at that now, cocky and eager.]
But if you think you can land a decent hit on me with one of those weird things, then you're on!
no subject
No thanks...I won't be using that weird energy disc.
[He straightens up and rolls his arms at the shoulders, flexing and stretching them out.]
You've got the hardest head I think I've ever seen. I've never had the opportunity to really let fly with a real, honest punch before. Now I'm tempted to try it!
no subject
Yeah? Well, I gotta admit, the fact that you're still standing after most of this is kinda impressive, too.
Fine then! Gimme what you got! I'm not gonna hold back either!
[......Yusuke IS THIS SUCH A GOOD IDEA IN ViViD......]
no subject
[Somehow, he wanted to see what he could bring to the table if push came to shove.]
[He digs in, leg muscles coiling like steel springs, then launches at Yusuke at top speed. He clears the gap in an instant, skids and pivots, then throws a punch that would crack a solid steel beam right at Yusuke's chest.]
[And then another with the other hand.]
[And another.]
[And again.]
[

As the first hit connects, the wind rushes out of him, surprised by the amount of force behind the hit. Holy hell, he hadn't taken a punch like that in a LONG time. If he had a shirt on, it would have probably exploded off from the power. It was difficult to block the following strikes, the pain distracting him from making a move-- until a certain switch turned on inside of him.
Lashing out his now-tattooed arm, quick as a wink, he latched on to Darin's hand, a slightly fanged grin flitting across his face.]
Not bad there, old timer. Now I won't feel so guilty doing this!
[And he swings a right cross towards Darin's face, strong enough to easily level a building with a few good hits. Let's... hope he's strong enough to survive that... hahaha... 8[ ]
no subject
[Darin doesn't even get to express his full confusion before Yusuke strikes. What follows is a particularly horrifying snap of Darin's neck as Yusuke's punch connects with Darin's face. His head snaps impossibly hard to the side, his neck wrenching so hard it almost looks like it might be broken.]
[Darin stumbles back one step...two steps...but stays upright.]
[What the hell was that...?! Normal people don't punch that way...! Normal people don't have strength like...like...]
[It hits him then...the force of that punch...he knew of only one person who could punch like that. In fact, he'd weathered a punch like that not long before arriving in Cerealia...]
[Dromas...]
[Just the thought of that name...of his newly resurrected brother...of the monster he'd become...]
[Of the monster that he himself was.]
[Slowly, Darin reaches towards his own head. The best thing about hyper resilience wasn't so much that you healed quickly...it's that your threshold of pain tolerance was often leaps and bounds higher than a normal person. Yeah, Yusuke's punch hurt...it hurt so much that he was probably going to feel it for days. But strikes like that were so infrequent that when they did happen? Adrenaline took over.]
[He grabs his chin and snaps his head back forward...then spits blood out of his mouth. His entire aura had changed. This wasn't just a goof anymore. His green eyes burned, his muscles tensed like steel, and there was almost a look of resentment crossing his normally happy features.]
[When he strikes, he does it without warning. No digging in this time. No theatrical foreshadowing of his strikes. No big wind ups. He rushes down Yusuke with everything he has. His fists are practically throwing off sparks and embers with the speed and force he cracks them off with. His self-imposed limitations quickly falling away. He's not trying to kill him. But he's trying to hurt whatever Yusuke is. Because he's a flagrant reminder, a physical manifestation of everything Darin's been spending his life fighting against.]
[He doesn't even give a defiant yell. He just grits his teeth and lets fly.]
1/2
CRAP!
Don't be dead, don't be--!
no subject
As Darin fixes his head, it all begins to add up for Yusuke. Well, duh, no wonder this dude was so stupidly strong. He'd bee a friggin' demon this whole time! And not just any demon either-- one that was potentially an A or S class like he was. But why couldn't he sense it before? All he felt earlier was just normal, run-of-the-mill human aura.
Unless...
... they had something in common...?
GROSSBefore Yusuke can dwell on this further, though, Darin is suddenly in front of him, and it's only years of training and instinct that saves him from getting a face full of fist. It's all he can do to block and dodge Darin's hits, though thanks to the force and tenacity of them it's impossible to avoid them all. Each one that connects feels like a jackhammer of pain, and he can't help coughing up a bit of blood as a result. This doofus was no Yomi, but he was definitely giving Yusuke a run for his money. But why? Was he pissed about getting hit that hard? If that's the case, why the overreaction?]
WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM?!
[Waiting for the slightest bit of an opening, Yusuke counters back with a strong barrage of his own, the combined energy of their fists blocking one another causing the digital landscape to fracture and break apart. They'll probably destroy the whole level at this rate, if they're not careful.]
