[open] TEST YOUR MIGHT
Who: Yusuke Urameshi
fingerbanged & YOU!
When: IC: 8/2
Where: A really, really bad Street Fighter knock-off in ViViD
What: The past few weeks and the disappearance of a friend have been rough on Yusuke, so he's taking his frustration out in the best way he knows how-- punching things. Unfortunately, with CERES machinery on the fritz, it seems like there's new (and not entirely willing) challengers being glitched into his level of Ultra Alley Brawlers...
Rating/Warning: RATED Y FOR YUSUKE aka heavy chances of violence, bad language, blood, and everything else that comes with sticking a hot-blooded shonen protagonist in a fighting game-- also potential embarrassing outfits
[So you may be minding your own business, happily playing some innocent ViViD game such as Cybuddy Raiser or Gourmet Mother, or you're in the middle of labor-intensive RPG-style session, about to finally hit that desired stat level and take on the regional boss. Or you may even just be hanging around the ViViD Center, taking a break from the energy draining effects of the machines before jumping back into the fray again.
Suddenly, the area around you shifts and pixelates, stuttering and glitching for a moment or two, before it corrects itself, and-- wait a moment. This wasn't where you were before! Instead, you're looking out at one of these slightly grainy surroundings, while the dulcet sounds of this beautiful song blares all around you. Thankfully, your attire remains the same-- unless you're one of the unfortunate few whom the game had decided needed an outfit adjustment. But it's okay! High-cut leotards are great for kicking!
Like a large, blinking sign, the words A NEW CHALLENGER HAS APPEARED flashes above your head, before vanishing into thin air, replaced by a time slowly counting down from 90. Before you can really dwell on what those words mean, however, the loud sound of pounding feet rushes in your direction, a young man in this get-up charging towards you, fist cocked and ready to fight.
... you may want to do something about that.]
[tl;dr, welcome to the not!Street Fighter simulator! It's up to you if you want your character to be glitched into a weird fighter-game outfit, keep their normal attire, or change into some alt outfit from canon! If your character isn't a fighter, that's okay! There's handicaps in place, and, given how ViViD likes to mess with things, your character can easily be super strong or super weak given how you want the interactions to go! There's potential for final boss fights and bonus modes (as well as time-up 'draws'), so go wild! If you want to hash anything out or plot, hit me up at

His eyes lit up in recognition once Duo swiftly dodges his initial attack, that long, brown ponytail a dead giveaway. What other guy in this city had hair THAT long? But clearly he had some decent fighting chops, so he had to stay on his toes if he didn;t want to get penalized.
Yusuke's arm swings out, hoping to block that punch before it can wind him, while his other circles around to try to aim a blow to his lower ribs. That could shave off some HP, right?]

[ Well, Duo always liked to give everyone a run for their money, if possible! The braided boy hasn't had a good fist fight go on in a little while - well.. that was a lie. He'd punched Heero and promptly gotten the air clobbered out of him, but hey - life was life, and he'd learned from that little incident. Mainly that when Heero told him to hit him, that he really shouldn't. But anyways -
Duo's attempt at a gut punch does manage to get blocked, and Yusuke manages to shave off a little HP with that hit to his side - he'd tried to clamp up enough to block it, but hey, not everyone moves quickly enough sometimes. But, now, Yusuke is close, which means he can try to get ahold of his shirt and use his knees to get a little bit of health off, or something similar. Learning how to fight first on the street gave Duo a little bit of a non-traditional way of fist fighting.. some might call it 'dirty'.. but as long as there wasn't biting he was pretty cool with it.
No better way to get the blood pumping than a good ol' fight, right? ]

Duo's lunge for the closest bit of clothing caused him to momentarily backpedal (why was his hand heading towards his junk? He wasn't about to put him into a nut-hold, was he?), but his confusion left him open for that knee to gut. The air wheezed out of him at the impact, a decent amount of HP falling away thanks to the hit, and his mind raced over what to do. This guy was surprisingly adept at street-brawling, and Yusuke could appreciate that-- but he wasn't about to earn a penalty from this.
Quick as a wink, Yusuke's head arcs down, hoping to slam it into Duo's own. He wasn't going to go TOO hard (Duo was only human after all), but he had to find a way to knock him loose from his hold.]

Fucker - [ Duo growls it out at the hit, well aware at how much his head throbs from it, but well... he's like a dog with a bone and as a kid who's taken a few beatings? He'll make it. There's something to be said for having the shit kicked out of you a few times in fights and interrogations - head blows serve to piss him off the first time. He's like a dog with a bone with the grip on his pants, though. For right now, he doesn't seem to be budging, just... edging on to angry at the fact that he's been head butted.
Duo, protective of his head all around? Naaaaahhhh...
Now that he's good and annoyed at the head butt, he'll push his shoulder forward, using his slight frame to try to root under Yusuke as a whole, depending on how solid Yusuke was in his stance -
Basically trying to either lever Yusuke over his shoulder or shove him down, which ever might work. He's by no means a professional or trained fighter, but he sure as hell knows how to roll with the punches, literally and figuratively. If he can shove Yusuke down, he's definitely going to go for gold. ]

It was a tricky move, one that could possibly unbalance him if he wasn't careful, but fights were all about their risks. Lashing a leg out, Yusuke slams it against Duo's calves, hoping to fell him and get him to let go in one swoop. If not-- well, he just made it easier for Duo to knock him down.]

[ About half and half of piss and vinegar and definitely a hefty 100% helping of pure stubbornness. ... There's also the fact that he's a Gundam pilot and could very well be a fully experimental child, but hey, he wasn't Heero so that gave Yusuke a bit more of an advantage against him. Aside from any of that, it's oddly thrilling to be back in some kind of street fight again - it had been years since the braided boy had the chance to have a good and proper street fight that didn't have his life at stake (he thinks, at least) - so this was a bit of a pulse racer and fun all at once -
At least until his legs are being swept and he's rapidly putting out an arm to catch himself and roll out of that side fall fast enough to not be caught unawares. So there you go, Yusuke, he's let you go, but he's moving fast enough that his braid might give an errant whip - not an intentional hit by any means - as he rolls to stand as quickly as possible.
... Had he been Trowa he would've done some fancy flip, but instead... have a weird barrel roll.
He never said he was a ballerina. ]

... although, technically there was something at stake, too. The timer was ticking lower, and Yusuke hadn't quite discovered what would happen if he wound up losing. He wasn't sure what his HP was at, but it may be a good idea to try to even things out a little.
The sudden hair whip was a surprise (not really painful, just odd), though a part of him wondered if Duo would ever consider hiding spikes in there. After all, it worked for Kurama, and Duo had much more hair game than fox-boy did. Yusuke hand lashes out, though, making a grab for the back of the other boy's shirt, hoping to grab him before he righted himself again. If he was lucky, he could try to fling Duo across the stage, but he was open to any counterattacks that his opponent may have up his sleeve.]

[ The last time he'd been in a fight like this he'd been a street kid battling it out with another kid over bread, or something. This wasn't exactly the very same thing, but it gave the same rush for someone who had been, as of late, more than a little bit bored with Cerealia and it's lack of action.. well, and the fact that he hadn't wanted to be out and about among people when there was a very real possibility of them learning more about him than he'd really like.
Duo, honestly, hasn't been paying a lick of attention to the timer going above them. He's less focused on the time constraints as he was on being defensive and trying to suss out what kind of fighter Yusuke was. He'd chatted with the guy a few times, but it wasn't quite the same as trying to pick out a fighting style.
- - Don't put your fingers in the base of his braid, Yusuke. You may find more than you'd bargained for.
There's a soft growl of frustration as Yusuke grabs the back of his shirt - a booted foot immediately kicking out toward the other teen, aiming for where ever he could land a foot, twisting that deceptively light body in an effort to not be taken in with his back facing the other teen. ... Since that never, ever, turned out well for him. ]

Duo's blind kick hit his knee with enough force to break him away from his hold, causing him to stagger back a few steps. Man, he didn't quite look it, but he was one hell of a fighter. Pitching his body forward once more, Yusuke using his momentum to try to deliver a straight punch to Duo's face. It was a less than ideal position, but he was going to try to make it work.]

[ He's pretty quickly finding out that it's a lost cause - but hey, a guy can try. Especially if it might give him a little bit of an advantage in trying to figure him out. Fortunately/Unfortunately, it's looking like a good old street brawl like he used to have - nothing predictable and more like a battle of give and take - and that was something he could really get in to. Mainly for nostalgia's sake, if he's honest.
Duo turns, as Yusuke's grip falters, trying to figure out what he's doing - but turns directly in to the punch. He staggers back, HP falling quite a chunk, blood already flowing from his nose. It doesn't seem to bother him very much, at least, but he does allow the momentum of them both to fall on his back, winding himself on purpose, for the moment, in an attempt to kind of flip Yusuke over him. Maybe.. if it works. He doesn't have a plan for after that but getting the other teen away for a moment seems to be his best option right now. ]
no subject
... well, okay, maybe that wasn't ENTIRELY true. He'd still like to win, if he could, and that punched he managed to deliver was definitely on the right track. However, one could not beat gravity, and he was already off balance as it was, so Duo's attempt at flipping Yusuke over succeeds, much to his dismay. There's a small yelp before he hits he ground, momentarily stunned.
If Duo was going to turn the tables, he may want to do it now.]
no subject
[ Duo is by no means a gymnast like Trowa - so excuse him if that little back roll wasn't the most graceful, but he's doing his best to get on top of Yusuke in the most efficient way he can possibly think of. They're running low on time, as it was, and considering his health was getting low after that direct hit to the face? It was time to at least take this a little more seriously than he had been, just to see what the results would be.
For posterity's sake, if he can get on top of Yusuke?
Definitely going for a face punch, just to make it even-steven. ]
no subject
However, Yusuke's the master of getting back up when he's been beaten down, and now that Duo's in close range, his fist shoots up to deliver a counter punch to the other boy's face. Hopefully it'll be enough to knock him off.]
