[OPEN] You and Me We're a Miracle

What: Hikari returns from her canon update, having just escaped from the strange, new World calling to her...back to another strange, not-so-new World still keeping her from Home. And, boy, did she pick a great time to do so!

[Hikari arrived just in time for the Darkness to hit. Because of course.]

[Her heart was pounding in her chest. Her mind racing. She looked all around her, blinking several times in order to process what she was seeing. All this...this wasn't Home. This wasn't even the Dark Ocean. The lights had gone out, yes, but...]

[A city. She was in a city.]

[Cerealia]

[The name echoed in her mind like remnants of a bad dream. One she had yet to fully awaken from. Combined with the exhaustion from not having gotten a decent night's sleep in several day's time--]

...Takeru-kun?

[The first name she called for. Because he had been right there beside her. He'd crossed Worlds to come get her, and he'd been with her as they floated upward--him on Pegasusmon, and her on Angewomon.]

Hikari!

[She turned at the sound of her name, letting out no small sigh of relief as she dropped to her knees. Smiling as her digimon partner scampered over to her. Looking similar confused and uncertain at their predicament.]

Hikari...what's happening? Where are we?

[The girl--now all of 11 years old--glanced up with a distant expression. It had taken her a moment, but the realization was beginning to sink in. Memories, though distant, slowly returning.]

We're back, Tailmon.

[He was scared of her but for a different reason. This wasn't the reaction the blond wanted out of her, she didn't want her to feel like she couldn't talk to him. But how could he when he didn't even know how to breathe around her?]

N-No, it's not that! It's...it's something else. [He can't tell her, he just can't! Not when their friendship was at stake right now. One wrong move and everything could break apart and he didn't want any of that. And yet, if he didn't tell her, would she keep having that same worried look on her face?

This was just way too much for him.]

But I wouldn't worry about it, it's okay, Hikari-chan. I'm f-fine.

[Something else.]

[Only he wouldn't tell her. And...how could she ask him to? After everything she'd hidden from him, all the questions she'd left without answers. Even now, there was so much left unspoken between them.]

Do you...want me to leave?

[Her shoulders slumped. She would, if that was what he wanted. Even if it was for a little while. Maybe...maybe he needed to think. About what had happened. About...what kind of person she was. Now that he'd literally seen her Darker side...]

I will. If you want. I...I'll understand if you do.

[That was the last thing he wanted! As he quickly widen his eyes, he shook his head before taking a step forward. Swallowing whatever butterflies were in his stomach, he just had to speak up!]

No, of course not! That would be really mean and I don't want you think I'm a bad friend!

[Although, as he spoke out, there was a hint of anxiety behind those words. That's right, she only thought of him as friend didn't she? That only complicated things before he continued to mumble. Why was he feeling this way toward her? It just wasn't fair at all.

How did all of this happen?

I could never ask you to do that.

[Her head shot up, and she looked him straight in the eye.]

I would never think that of you. How could I?

[The things he'd done for her. The lengths he'd traveled. The way...they'd reconnected so easily after being apart for three years. Like he'd never left. He understood her like no other. He knew when things were wrong...and he knew--sometimes better than she did--what it was she needed to hear.]

[If she looked at him carefully, that's when he stopped breathing. He felt his heart skip a beat when they made eye contact. After a split second, he immediately looked away in hopes that he didn't make his blush obvious.]

I-It's okay but...if there's anything you want to talk about, you know that I'm a-always here.

[He needed to breathe. He needed to get some air and relax but it felt like every part of his body was on edge. If only it weren't so difficult to say the words he wanted to say to her.

He definitely wasn't okay at all.]

[Definitely not, no.]

[If there's anything you want to talk about... History was repeating itself far too soon for her to be ready, and Hikari...she didn't know what to do. What to say. If there was anything she was still keeping from him. Or...if it was the other way around.]

But...you already know. You were there.

[What else could he possibly think she was hiding?]

[Suddenly, in that moment, it felt like whatever spell he was in just broke. He stared at her with bright wide eyes before it suddenly clicked what she was talking about.]

...You didn't come back from the Dark Ocean, did you?

[But just like that, the racing heartbeat was back. Although, this time, he wasn't sure was it from the realization that this topic was much too soon to talk about or that he was standing right next to his crush.]

Hikari-chan, are you sure you're okay?

[Her head snapped up, though she wasn't...so surprised at his words as she was the fact that he had to ask at all. Almost as if...]

I...don't know.

[And for once, it wasn't her keeping things from him. She was that Lost.]

The last I remember...we were flying up. Higher and Higher. I remember you smiling at me, and then...

I opened my eyes, and I was here.

[Then it suddenly dawned on him, she was now around the same time he was before he arrived here. That's when everything started to fall into place]

Hikari-chan, I remember that. That was the last thing I remember before coming here too.

But I just arrived here before you did.

[Again, he was trying to keep his distance from her. His face as already burning red and he didn't want to make it obvious to her]

[That would...maybe explain...?]

[Except, no. If they'd been through the same memories, then he would have known they were close to coming out of it okay. And she'd fought back on her own. Somewhat. With his and Angewomon's help, sure, but without her brother.]

That...happened last time too, didn't it? [Three years ago. The last time they were here. When they were eight.] You got here first, and then I did. We figured time ran differently here then back home. Just like the Digital World used to, before the Worlds had synched up.

It's the only explaination, how else would you describe how we manage to meet up at different times?

[While people have told him how it works, he still doesn't understand why. Sometimes people disappear for 3 days or maybe even 14 days and then suddenly come right back here. Although, it just made him wonder even more as to why they still needed them here.

Not that he was complaining, he felt like he needed to do something for his friends here.]

But you're sure you're okay though? We can always go somewhere else and just relax for a little bit if you like.

[The tension was still there. She could feel it. And yet...with that offer, for the first time since the start of their conversation, she felt like things would be okay. Eventually. With a little rest.]

I'd... [Before she could answer, a yawn escaped her. The adrenaline from everything was wearing off, reminding her of just how tired she'd been.] ...like that very much, actually.

We can go anywhere you want. I don't mind.

[Anywhere she wanted? Oh dear, it didn't mean what he thought it meant did it? Suddenly, that rush of panic and anxiety was coming back. If Hikari looked at him rather closely, she could see that he might be shaking just a bit.

He needed to do something about this, he can't just stand there doing nothing!]

O-Oh, then where do you want to go? It wouldn't be fair if you didn't get to choose first!

[He said much more quickly than he wanted to. After all, he was about to go on a not so really but kind of date with her!]

[She saw the shaking. And wondered if he was just as tired as she. Maybe...that would explain his weird behavior.]

What about someplace we can both rest?

I...you know I haven't gotten much sleep. [Because of the nightmares.] Maybe...now that we won...I can.

[As much as Takeru wanted to say they could go back to the apartment, there was just one minor problem]

I don't think we can, not when the city is in chaos right now! There are robots and other technology attempting to arrest us and hurt everyone around here! I think the best thing we can do is hide right now.

[With that said, Hikari might happen to see a robot nearby that is marching straight toward them]

[Her eyes widened considerably. Like this was news to her. Which it was.]

There's--?

[A noise nearby drew her attention, and she turned to see the robot coming towards them. It...was similar to the Andromon situation some time back, except...Hikari couldn't sense any familiarity behind their metal exterior.]

...I missed something. [This was not the Cerealia she remembered.] What's going on? Why are they after us too?

[Before he could explain anything, that's when the machine gotten even closer to them. Without thinking, he just tugged her by her shoulder and gestured her toward somewhere else even if he was still shaking!]

I don't know but I just know that they're going to arrest us for something we didn't do! They tried to get me in jail for wearing my hat the wrong way and they wouldn't stop until I did!

[Not to mention that he also had a brief encounter where he nearly got pushed over a building from the robot's but...that's for another time] We need to get to somewhere safe right now!

[Okay, now the shaking could be easily enough explained by...the fact...that they were getting chased.]

I didn't know there was a wrong way to wear that hat.

[Contemplating over her best friend's choice of headwear would have to wait, though, because the robot was getting closer. She took a step back. Then another. Then turned and started heading towards the direction he indicated. Not knowing where they were going, but right then, it didn't much matter as long as it got them away from danger.]

I didn't know either but we just have to run as fast as we can!

[Although, Takeru didn't know where to go. When the city was mostly covered with techonology, there was no place to hide. There could be robots and random appliances attacking them at any corner.

However, as they continued to run, one of the robots spoke up]

Hikari Yamagi, you are under arrest for wearing too much pink!

[Yes, it just said that]
