The past few days have been exhausting, between everything that happened with their apartment, trains going off the rails, and all the rest of everything else going wrong. The weird little glitches affecting people personally have mostly just been annoying by comparison, though Ankh had developed a particularly annoying one. Eiji hugging him the other day hadn't been a bad experience, but he certainly hadn't asked to wind up hugging random other people against his will.

He would have thought he was safe against that particular frustration in his sleep, but the current situation proves otherwise. He's apparently rolled over to where he's close enough to wrap himself around the nearest person, all the while remaining completely asleep. At least it's Eiji again this time...

Unfortunately for Ankh, he's not the only one glitching that night.

Not that Eiji's was too noticeable, with him asleep. At least, until Ankh hugs him.

Ankh will hear a giggle. Notice that Eiji feels unusually warm, like he's on permanent blush.

"That feels nice, Ankh."

Better hope you can let go soon, Ankh.

Ankh had managed to stay asleep until that weird giggle cut through it and immediately set him on edge.

"Eiji?" He blinks at him, then down at his own arms that seem to have gotten tangled around Eiji while he was sleeping. He's not really sure what's going on aside from none of this having been intentional. But more importantly he hasn't heard Eiji giggle like that since... And he hasn't seen that look on his face since then, either...

...why can't he move???

Eiji's gaze is a little unfocused, but he is definitely awake. And unless there was something bizarre in whatever they ate last night, he's unfortunately sober. All of this can mean only one thing.

Eiji giggles again. "You're hugging me."

It's happening again.

"I know." And he doesn't sound very happy about it, especially as he tries and fails one more time to move away. Why does this keep happening to him? And if Eiji now is anything like when this happened before, he doubts that trying to explain it is going to do much good. "Just stop giggling."

"Okay." But another giggle because...well, Eiji's not exactly thinking clearly.

"It's really nice, Ankh. I like it."

What did he just say not to do, Eiji? Really, he'd go dump more water on his head if he could. It would be easy. The stream is right there.

Sadly, he's just going to have to get used to laying here being unintentionally clingy. Which really wouldn't be so bad if Eiji wasn't acting... well, like that. It's not uncomfortable aside from the part where he wants to smack sense into him and can't.

"You don't think there's anything wrong with you right now, do you..."

"Why would it be wrong?"

Eiji's voice is downright singsong as he starts cuddling up against Ankh.

"Nothing's wrong, everything's right, everything's beautiful!"

Oh look, Ankh is able to make himself move somewhat just in time for Eiji to cling right back and cut off his escape routes. Wonderful. He doesn't seem to be able to bring himself to shove himself away, much as he might want to at the moment.

"The only other time you acted like this was because a Yummy was messing with you." Not that he remembers that. Just everyone else who was stuck dealing with him. "Why would it be right?" Annoying. Slightly creepy. Those are better words.

"No one's messing with me right now. So that's right."

Definitely not true--there is likely going to be a massive hole burned into someone's door at CERES at some point, and when he's got his head back on straight, Eiji will probably not be that mad about it.

"Hey, Ankh? I'm glad you hugged me. I really liked hugging you earlier."

There also might be a hole burned into this poor idiot sooner or later, and he will also understand.

"I wasn't trying to." Not that that makes a lot of sense, but making sense is not a top priority when Eiji is like this. And something is very obviously messing with him, but he won't bother pointing that out.

Is he able to actually move yet? He experimentally pushes against Eiji's chest with one hand, more than pleased when that seems to actually do something. Excuse him while he tries to peel Eiji off him.

Eiji's still got that extremely goofy grin and doesn't quite get that Ankh wants to go. Now. Because he just tries to hug him again.

"This is nice. Why don't we do this more?"

Alright, fine, Eiji, you're asking for this punch to the gut. Now that Ankh has full control over his motions, he has absolutely not problem with that. If nothing else, it's satisfying after the frustration of not being able to move. As for Eiji, he just hopes it's enough to make him let go so Ankh can get out of his grip. Otherwise, he's seen Eiji like this, and he wouldn't be surprised if Eiji doesn't even notice that someone's hitting him.

Eiji does let go, but true to form, he really has no idea why his stomach is hurting right now.

"Hey, Ankh? You ever have that feeling in your stomach, like butterflies?"

Ankh takes the opportunity to roll away and sit up a good few feet away before Eiji can get hold of him again.

"No." And he's pretty sure being punched shouldn't feel like butterflies, either.

"My heart's fluttering, I can't catch my breath, but I don't feel sick."

He gets to his knees and looks over at Ankh like an eager puppy.

"Is this what they mean when they say 'lovesick'? Am I in love?"

"You're in stupid." It's about what he said to that the first time around, and his opinion there hasn't changed one bit. If Eiji's actually like this when he's in love with someone, then it's good he doesn't usually seem too interested in romance.

Too bad Eiji's not listening. Well, less so than usual. He's starting to pick some of the flowers.

"It feels so nice, I want to be like this forever."

NO.

"Hey, Ankh, have you ever been in love?"

The problem with Eiji not remembering the first time is him asking the same questions and not remembering that the last time he asked, Ankh dumped a bucket of water on his head. There is the stream right there. If only he had a bucket. Though keep this up, and he might just throw Eiji into the stream and hope he's not stupid enough to actually drown.

"I've never acted like you are right now, if that's what you mean."

He's not even going to try to come up with any more serious answer than that. He wouldn't know how to, anyway. It's something he recognises as a human desire but he wouldn't have a clue how to identify it as a feeling... aside from how Eiji's acting completely ridiculous right now and even he knows that's not normal at all.

Eiji's face actually falls at that point, but don't start thinking he's back to normal.

"That's so sad. Ankh, I'm sorry."

Clearly, he has to help somehow--hug again?

Doesn't matter if you want it or not, Ankh, he's trying to hug you.

Nope.

Ankh is not letting him get close enough to hug him again. He's just going to keep dodging the attempts -- though if the opportunity arises somewhere in here, he might let him get just close enough so he can shove him into the stream.

Eiji's sense of danger is danger is decidedly not there, and he's following Ankh all the way to the stream.

And, well, Ankh really doesn't have to do much to drop him in the water. He falls in on his own, right in the middle of a patch of alien water lilies.

Well, okay. It's not quite as satisfying watching Eiji fall over into the water when he didn't even have to push him. But at least he's not trying to hug him anymore. Ankh's just going to stand by the edge of the water and make sure Eiji doesn't manage to drown himself.

No, no accidental drowning, not yet anyway. Eiji gets distracted by the water lilies and starts trying to pick them.

"I'll get you flowers, okay, Ankh?"

Ankh doesn't bother saying anything to that, just makes some vague sound of acknowledgement and relaxes a little bit by the side of the stream. He's still ready to move quickly if need be, but it seems like Eiji's found something to occupy himself with for a few minutes at least. Ankh doesn't plan on distracting him from it.

The problem with taking a dip in the stream is that sooner or later, someone who actually lives in it isn't going to be happy.

It comes up while Eiji's tugging on a particularly stuck flower, one that for some reason doesn't seem to want to get plucked from its root system by a lovesick idiot.

The thing is mostly teeth with a couple of fins to propel it forward, and its mouth is at least large enough to take off his foot if it tried.

And Eiji, poor stupid Eiji, doesn't even see it coming.
