What new and wonderful and exciting ViViD level awaits you today? What fun time will you have in ViViD this time? Surely it will be a work of art that CERES has been working on for months and months --

Actually, wait, CERES isn't even around, are they?

Uh oh.

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzt.

//SCENARIOS.EXE

PHASE I

[ ??:?? ] This time, ViViD is a deathtrap.

There is random magma everywhere, monsters will spawn at random, and at some points, the game is entirely unplayable. It’s like the dev team totally disappeared mid-constructing the level.

Oh wait, that’s exactly what happened.

Monsters may spawn on top of you, you may suddenly be standing in a poisonous bog, you may suddenly lose your powers, or your senses, or so many different things --

It’s time to get out of here, ASAP.

Thankfully, the exit is obvious. Like. Blindingly obvious. It’s got a big sign over it that says EXIT

And just like that, you’ll be out of ViViD and --

PHASE II

[ 08:30 ] When you wake up (and it’s strange, because you were sure that you were logging out just a second ago), it’s in a pile of bodies.

They’re cold, but not in the same sense that a dead body would be cold. While they are lifeless and look incredibly real, they don’t feel real. They feel like dolls, mannequins, empty models and nothing more. Their code doesn’t seem to be functioning right.

And what some characters may realize upon looking at this pile of bodies is that they are all of the characters who were sacrifices before. Any character that was dropped who had a high magical or spiritual affinity is there in that pile of bodies, lifeless and eyes blank and vacant. Even you might be there, staring at your own dead body -- but it isn’t real It can be touched, but it’s really nothing more than a lifeless body.

You’ll have to crawl out of that pile of bodies to get anywhere, and then you’ll realize -- you’re in the Sanctuary, a building built by the characters as a safe place from CERES. And it’s looking pretty run-down at this point. The technology in it no longer functions, there is no security on it whatsoever…

Oh, and now there’s a pile of bodies. Great.

PHASE III

[ 10:00 ] There’s also a robot.

It’s wandering from place to place, though it’s impossible to follow. One second it’s there, the next it’s just gone.

Also, it’s wearing this. Weird.

But even with that on its face, the robot seems focused on one thing in particular. In fact, it has a sign, and it says:

Down with CERES. Up with Robots.

That’s a happy, cheerful message. If you try to go up to it to talk to it, it will look at you before...bonking you on the head with the sign and running off. That’s incredibly rude.

Alternatively, you may be safe and sound in your home, but then the doorbell rings, and there’s the robot again. The duck mask is gone, but now instead it has a pin on his fake lapel, and then he’s shoving a pamphlet at you.

He tips his hat, and then he’s gone. Weird.

(Also, if you hold onto the pamphlet, it will lead you directly to the person whose picture is on it, and you’ll feel like you’ve known them and have loved them for years.)

PHASE IV

[ 12:45 ] But not all is fun and games and shenanigans. There is something...well, strange happening, and the first real realization of that will be when it starts to rain. More than just the localized rain that a few unfortunates have dealt with -- no, it’s raining completely and totally, and that’s when it might hit you.

For the first time in Cerealia, there’s weather.

It’ll rain for a few hours, and then it’ll stop and become hot and sunny. It may get humid, considering it’s a jungle planet. At night, it’ll get rather cold.

Seems like whatever was keeping Cerealia’s atmosphere stable is now gone -- which also means that characters may start to occasionally experience headaches, nausea and dizziness if they go too close to the walls. It seems safer in the center of the city, and the Residential District is still okay, but… there’s no doubt that the planet’s atmosphere is starting to encroach on the city.

BONUS

[ why o'clock ] But who cares about all of that? More importantly, you are here in this… totally not shoddy city to have fun, and it’s still being advertised as a pleasure colony. Or, well, it would be if, you know, CERES was still around.

But close enough.

And as a pleasure colony, it would figure that the first robots to really get fixed are...well, the Pleasure District robots. Unfortunately, the Pleasure District is still a nice big mess, so now they’re wandering the entire colony, looking for people they can hug, massage or...try to drag into more explicit activities.

Welcome to Cerealia!

[Ichigo just laughed at the jab.] I'm not really that tall though since my former master had me shortened. Anyway, would you mind seeing if our pursuers are still after us, Miss?
earthpulse: (☶ fair weather thrust)

[personal profile] earthpulse 2016-09-25 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
[ Edna peers over Ichigo's shoulder as she's being carried, and upon spotting that one or two more robots are still on their tail, suddenly summons a wall of stone in front of the robots to block their pursuit, resulting in them crashing right into it, the sharp clang and crunch of machinery sounding out.

She dusts her hands off after that arte. ]

Not anymore.
oncealifetime: (eh where are we going...?)

[personal profile] oncealifetime 2016-09-25 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ichigo ventures to glance back when he hears the crunch of metal. Then he stops running and turns around, staring at the stone wall that was clearly not there earlier and the broken bots lying on the ground...]

How...? Was that your doing, miss?
earthpulse: (☶ weather vane)

[personal profile] earthpulse 2016-09-26 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
That's right. I'm an earth seraph, and that's what happens to dumb robots who annoy earth seraphim too much.

[ A spirit, in other words. As a seraph, she too required a vessel to reside in, in order to not be corrupted by malevolence, but her vessel isn't here anymore...kind of sad. ]
oncealifetime: (that doesn't make sense...)

[personal profile] oncealifetime 2016-09-26 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
A seraph? [And that isn't a term he's heard before actually...] I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that term. What exactly does it mean?
earthpulse: (☶ quake trigger)

[personal profile] earthpulse 2016-09-26 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She sighs, although it's more for show than anything. Since Ichigo's a spirit like herself (from what she can sense), she finds herself giving a little more leeway to him than say, humans. ]

A spirit, kind of like yourself. Beings that can't be seen by normal humans without resonance.

[ This guy...had the same feel as Nakigitsune. She had the luck(?) of knowing a bit about Naki beforehand, and seeing his vessel shattered was...not pretty. ]

But it seems most rules in the seraphim 101 handbook have flown out the window, anyway.
oncealifetime: (Ichigo)

[personal profile] oncealifetime 2016-09-27 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see! You're an Earth spirit. [So that's why you don't quite feel human.] Is your umbrella your vessel?
earthpulse: (☴ regretful thrust)

[personal profile] earthpulse 2016-09-27 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, this is my catalyst.

[ Just carrying a conversation while she's being princess carried, nbd. She should probably call it off soon though...the robots aren't pursuing them anymore, and she doesn't like being treated as helpless. ]

My vessel left a while ago, unfortunately. ...He was a pretty good one, too.

[ "He". Sorey is a lot of things, but "here" isn't one of them, so she can admit this out loud just this one time. Maybe it's the sentimentality creeping up again, especially after seeing that pile of bodies. ]
oncealifetime: (eh where are we going...?)

[personal profile] oncealifetime 2016-09-27 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Catalyst? How does it work? ... your vessel was a living being? [That sounds so different from how sword spirits work!

He realizes that he's still carrying her and that there's no need to anymore.]

Ah, sorry about that, miss!

[So he sets her down on the ground gently.]
earthpulse: (☶ raining gravity)

[personal profile] earthpulse 2016-09-28 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
[ She re-steadies herself on the ground quite quickly, brushing some dust off her dress when she does, and twirls her umbrella as she speaks to him. ]

This [ she taps her umbrella's handle ] just enhances the power of my seraphic artes, but my vessel was a human.

[ ... ]

We seraphim made contracts with him, so we could reside in him without being corrupted. You wouldn't have been able to find anyone purer than he. ...Or nerdier than he.
oncealifetime: (eh where are we going...?)

[personal profile] oncealifetime 2016-09-29 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
I see! So you can still use your seraphic artes without it? A human vessel...? That is quite different from my situation. [He put a hand lightly on the long tachi sword in a rather flashy red sheath speckled with gold tied securely to the side of his uniform] This is my vessel.

[What she says surprises him.] We? How many seraphim were there in this human vessel?
earthpulse: (☵ turning peak)

[personal profile] earthpulse 2016-09-29 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
Four. It could get pretty busy in there, sometimes.

[ Her, Mikleo, Lailah, Zaveid. Sorey having to deal with comedy routines in his head and in his sleep...those were truly the days.

She eyes the tachi. Fancy. ]

I know it's different for you sword spirits. I ran into... one with a fox before. I don't know if you're acquainted.

[ It was a really cute fox. But she had no time for cuddling (unlike Viridi). She doesn't want to assume they know each other just because they're sword spirits, because that certainly isn't the case for seraphim. ]
oncealifetime: (a royal smile)

[personal profile] oncealifetime 2016-09-30 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Four...

[Ichigi can't help but feel rather amazed at how this human vessel could handle four spirits inside him.]

I hope for your vessel’s sake that the four of you at least got along...

[Blame the fanciness on his former owner... Ichigo notices her eyeing his vessel and feels slightly embarrassed.]

I look this way now because of my former owner... I can't really remember him but I guess he was a rather extravagant person...

[He looks over at her with curiosity when she says she knows about sword spirits. Then his face lit up with a smile as he nodded.]

With a fox? That would be my uncle, Nakigitsune.
earthpulse: (☶ stormy rain)

[personal profile] earthpulse 2016-10-02 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
...We had our days.

[ Although that was putting it lightly. Teasing, joking, comforting...no matter how much they might've ribbed at each other or poked fun at each other, they knew they would always have each others' backs. "Uncle" is the more interesting thing he's brought up at the moment, actually. ]

So you sword spirits have blood relations too? ...Metal relations?

[ Huh. Interesting. They're spirits tied to swords, specifically, as their vessels, so she wasn't sure about how they worked. ]
oncealifetime: (Ichigo)

[personal profile] oncealifetime 2016-10-02 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
[He laughed at that. Coming from a large family, he could sort of imagine that.]

Well, it's not exactly ‘blood’ or ‘metal’ relations. We swords are divided into different ‘schools’ which we also like to call families. Each school has a different technique and style of swordsmithing. Nakigitsune and I were crafted by different swordsmiths from the same school. His swordsmith was a senior of mine and he was crafted before me, so that makes him my uncle.

I do have younger brothers that were crafted by the same swordsmith.
earthpulse: (placeholder 1)

[personal profile] earthpulse 2016-10-03 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ She lets out a small "hm" of thought. Swordsmiths as parents... ]

You sword spirits are swords first, then spirits. Am I right?

[ The opposite of seraphim, then. But if they're talking about literal swords being given life, and humans smith...a lot of swords... ]

You must have a ton of brothers, then.
oncealifetime: (Default)

[personal profile] oncealifetime 2016-10-03 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, we are swords first and if we're lucky enough to survive for at least 100 years, we become sword spirits.

[Ichigo laughed at that. You have no idea, Edna...]

Our father, Yoshimitsu Awataguchi, was the master of the tantou and the tantou he made were highly sought after, so most of my younger brothers are tantou and there are many of them...

However, I can't remember exactly how many brothers I have because I've lost most of my memories after the fire at Osaka Castle... But we've found 12 of them so far.
