Family Meeting (Han, Leia, Digi-Kids)
Who: Han, Leia and the two kids
What: Coming home and talking more with Han and getting acquainted with the kids
Where: The streets and the Solo apartment
When: Shortly after Leia's arrival
Warnings: None that I know of.
Leia took in the city around her as she and Han walked back toward the apartment with the two kids. She was glad to be away from that simulation, but still overwhelmed by how everything had changed for her. Han's presence was a great comfort, and she was happy not to be alone here.
He somehow looked changed, and Leia got the feeling she'd find out why as they got more time to talk. She could feel it, even with her limited Force ability, and she could see it in his eyes and face. He was getting along as best he could, but he'd been through a lot. He'd mentioned being gone longer than just here, having been somewhere else first. He must have missed everyone so much... She could also hardly imagine him seeing her in that place, knowing how it still felt like a punch in the stomach seeing the familiar faces there.
She kept telling herself the kids weren't really gone. That it was only a simulation, something from this CERES. But was CERES telling the truth? Would they really get home eventually? Would she see and feel the kids again? She couldn't feel them here like she could back home, but a part of her kept telling her they were still alive. She hoped it was right.
The city was all technologically advanced, like Coruscant, but still very different. She couldn't see the dome overhead that she'd been told was there, but she still hated the thought of being trapped. It might be large, and comfortable enough, but the prison feeling still wouldn't completely leave her. She looked over at Han, sensing that he likely shared the same mindset she did. They could get by here and look out for the kids Han had taken under his proverbial wing, but they couldn't stop trying to get back home somehow.
They'd given her some credits to start out with, but she knew she would have to find a job, somehow.
"So, what's life like here?" she asked. "Some of it seems a little bit like certain places in the Galaxy, but it still looks different." she said.
"I know you must have a lot to tell me, but please, don't feel you have to rush, either. Maybe telling me everything at once wouldn't be best, if there are any more shocks I'll have to deal with. I'll let you decide." she said.
She looked to the kids. One of them, Takaishi, having said he'd met her before still felt strange, and she knew it might be awkward for a while. The other, Hikari, reminded her a little of Jacen, with his animal companion."It will be nice to get to know you. I am pretty good at being a mom, even though life back home was always very busy. I'm looking forward to finding out more about the two of you."
She couldn't pass up a reminder of an old line to Han now. "You know...you are a lot more of a nice man nowdays. I just hope...I can't stop hoping that all of us will be together again. It would be a big family, but I think we could manage it." she said. "And Luke and Mara and Chewie. But whatever happens, I'm not going anywhere if I can help it. Your 'solo' days were over a long time ago, and I'm glad that if we have to be stuck here, at least we're together."

"Well, Iife here is going to take some time to adjust but it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I think it's kind of nice although I wish it was under more normal circumstances."
Because he really rather not have to deal with seeing people dying right before his eyes again, thank you!
"But if you want me to explain everything, I can! Just let me know what to explain and I wouldn't mind telling you!"

"I guess that's good." she turned her attention to Han.
"I know I'll have to find a job...I'm just not sure how I'll handle it. There's no government to try and get involved in like back home...I still want to try and find a way to help people with whatever job I take, though." she said.
Curious now, she had to find out what Han had been doing. "What about you, flyboy? How've you been keeping busy besides helping the kids? What kind of work did you find?" She knew he probably wasn't back into smuggling, and he didn't have the Falcon around, but she was curious as to just what he did do.

Granted, for most who knew her, this was nothing knew. It wasn't a solemn quiet or a nervous quiet. Moreso her usual contemplative, observant quiet. She listened, and she watched. She watched Takeru beside her, and his reaction to being reunited with a woman he'd known before. She watched Han, and the look on his face as he was reunited with his love.
But most of all, she watched Leia.
"What...would you like to know?"
She had little reaction to the notion of Leia being a mom, but seemed interested in her interest in them.

"Well, it looks like there's a lot of technology...some things seem a little like what we have back home. Some of it is different, though.
Are there vehicles for getting around, or do most people just walk?" she asked. "That game...that simulation...do people do that a lot? I don't know if I like it. Or the idea of that CERES running everything like it does. "
She thought for a moment. "Does everyone live in places like this? And is it pretty easy to get things you need...shopping and things like that?"

Leia had quite a few questions, it seemed. Which was fine with Hikari. When she'd first arrived--both times--she'd been curious about a lot as well. Though her method of learning was less about asking directly and more about waiting and observing.
"A lot of people do walk, but the city is big. So people use the trains. Some of the adults drive too." She couldn't name specifics, but she'd seen them around during her daily strolls. "The games change everytime you enter one. I think some people do it so they can earn extra credits. Other people do it because they're curious...or want to see if they can find a familiar face inside."
Taichi. The first time she'd seen him here, it had been in the simulation. The second time as well. When he'd followed her back into the city. It would have been a lie to say Hikari didn't keep an eye out for him each time a new game was being promoted.
"As far as I know, everyone stays in the apartments, yes. And shopping...it's kind of like home for us. You can go anywhere and buy anything as long as you have enough money for it."
no subject
"I don't know...I'm not sure I'd like finding someone's face if they weren't real." She's thinking about that room again. She's afraid it'll be something like that again. It sickens her. "It's not always frightening like what we just saw, is it? That was terrible."
"It's a strange coincidence that credits are used here. Although I don't think they're credit chips like what we have at home."
She sighed. "I guess if we have to be trapped here for a time, at least it's fairly comfortable. Well, except for things like that room."
She studied her. "So, can you tell me a little about you? What are you like? Do you and the other kids here go to school?"
no subject
The information she received in return was...interesting. A minor parallel in the names of currency, it seemed, between Leia's world and this one. Han had never mentioned anything like that. And Leis' response to the games was...something Hikari could understand. Except she wanted to believe those faces were real.
"I go to school, yes. A few days a week." She used to go more often back when she was younger, but with everything going on, it was hard. Much harder than home. And she'd had to balance homework with Digital World duties. "It's...fine. They let you study what you want. And you can earn credits for going, like it's a part-time job."
That was something different than what she was used to. Part time work for students always had to be approved by the schools back home. To get paid simply for going to school at all...that would have been much more convenient.

"So what do you like to do when you're not at school?" she asked. "Do you and Takeru and...what did you call him...Han-san...do things as a group? Our kids had a lot of fun like that sometimes. So did I."
When they weren't trying to stop kidnappers or avert a government crisis....Leia hated missing so much of their lives.

"Takeru-kun and I spend time together sometimes. Besides Tailmon, he's my best friend." Which made sense. She did like Han, but he was an adult. Takeru was her age. And Tailmon was her partner. "I like to take pictures."

"No. There can be robot digimon, but that's not Tailmon. Digimon are..." She tried to think of the simplest way to explain her partner. Tailmon, meanwhile, was watching her with great interest. Seeing if she needed any help before chiming in. "...like animals. Only instead of the stuff that animals from our world are made of, they're made of code. But she's as real as you or me."

"Oniichan was here too. And Yamato-san. They're gone now, but...I have Takeru-kun and Patamon, too. And all the friends we've made since coming here." So she wasn't alone. She hadn't been alone once. Not since...before. Back home. "...and Tailmon's a girl."
(She'd almost missed Leia refer to the digimon as a "him". At least, she assumed Leia was referring to Tailmon.)

"We're going to rescue them. Oniichan and Yamato-san and the others. Somehow. If...they really are trapped in the Nexus Code, like people say."
no subject
"Yes...if my children are trapped, Han-san and I will do whatever we can to save them. And your friends too. Hopefully, everyone. It's scary to think of anyone having something like that happen to them."
no subject
"Do you...have any ideas?"
Hikari was never really the plan person. Or a leader. More like an obedient follower of those she trusted.

She sounded strangely certain of that.

Answers were never just given. That would be silly.
