Who: Sousei + Milla, Shinpachi, Takakage, Kaoru Kamiya, Seri, Katsushiro
When: TODAY because...why not... plus 02/04 for Katsushiro because he's special
Where: Mostly the gym/dojo, occasionally elsewhere
What: Sousei's day is a little more exciting than he expects it to be, really.
Rating/Warnings: N....one...hopefully??? let's not get too crazy here
takakage;
[He's been musing over this a lot, lately. Tenka had told him plenty of what had happened, of course, and while he wasn't in his own right mind for that entire event, he knows for a fact Takakage was. In a way, anyone willing to use this place against others in order to learn information or gain more towards their own ends was someone who was dangerous.
He's not intending to seek him out, he really isn't.
In fact, he still hasn't decided what he intends to do when he stumbles across Takakage in the library, on his way to explore yet another modern concept he has only recently learned about (iPhones, this time), but it isn't in Sousei's nature to freeze or back away from a confrontation. He blinks, slowly, and then he tucks the book under his arm and steps forward.]
Kobayakawa Takakage.
kaoru;
[After the fiasco that is Shirasu and him meeting in the same lunch room, Sousei honestly has no interest in meeting his other co-workers. It just...doesn't seem like a worthwhile use of his time. But it is as he's walking towards where he should be working that he finds her (martial...arts...?) and for a moment, he pauses to watch.
... .... .... There are a lot of people with surprising abilities here, but this is a bit more familiar to him.
Nonetheless, when he does finally have to cross the room, he does so with a polite--]
Pardon me for interrupting.
shinpachi;
[HE'S FINALLY MADE IT TO WORK aka the dojo....which is honestly a place that's a bit satisfying for him to be in these days. He can breathe, here. It's still foreign in some ways, but in most ways, it's so familiar that it could hurt...
Nonetheless, his own sword rests properly away, though he has still yet to find anyone who is a proper challenge enough to really interest him.
Of course, that's partially because he hasn't been there when Shinpachi has--and when he sees the other walk in, there's no doubt that his interest doubles.]
... Nagakura Shinpachi. Good afternoon. [As calm as his tone is, though, there's...the definite interest there. Sparring with a Shinsengumi captain who isn't a bloodthirsty vampire could be interesting, couldn't it...]
seri;
[okay today is a day that's full of interesting meetings... Sousei has only managed to put the place back in order when there's another familiar face, and he pauses, tilting his head slightly at her, though he isn't surprised, necessarily.
He'd noted her sword before, after all, and she carries herself as the sort of person who is very competent at what she does.
So, mildly, as she walks in--]
Are you here to practice?
milla;
[It's been such an eventful day that Sousei feels zero guilt about taking a break. He's usually workaholic to the point of filling up all of his hours in whatever way is best, honestly, but... here, there is less to do, and so hobbies are a required part of any daily routine.
Hobbies like video games.
Admittedly, he didn't really enjoy them that much from what he saw with Tenka. They were loud and fast-paced and not really his thing. But that was before he stumbled across the hand-held game and the little town that requires micromanaging and simple tasks to turn it into a functioning place and who would've thought that Sousei would get hooked on a game like this (Cerealia's version of animal crossing has far too many robots, not that he notices).
Regardless, he's seated outside of the gym, peering down at the handheld game with a surprising amount of concentration.
Clearly he requires bothering.]
katsushiro;
[It is a calm day at the dojo--or at least, it is until Sousei hears the tell-tale sounds of someone else practicing. He arches an eyebrow (he's always interested in the people who come to practice on their own, without prompting) and steps in quietly, and...ah.
Katsushiro, yes. He remembers.
He has good form, though it's obvious that he's still relatively new to the sword, but not a pro kendo master or no, you just don't interrupt people who are practicing.
And so, Sousei is quietly, observing thoughtfully, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. He'll speak up when Katsu is finished, if he doesn't notice him first.]

[ LIAR but he started it....
still, okay. there isn't much more she could say in regards to sousei and his loving relationship with fetching things for pixel-y creatures, and her interest really is piqued by the rest of this... game thing... so she does want to see more.
can't get that if she gives sousei grief. ]
If you actually do get something for all that trouble, you should've said so earlier. What're you waiting for?
[ ..... milla???
the great $pirit maxwell
but no mostly she's just curious ]
no subject
So he hands it over. Despite how fussy he can be about his hobbies, he's only just started this one, and he's really not that attached. A stamp book would be different, but this....]
There is a map on the bottom screen. The person you are looking for is in square E4.
[Go ahead, Milla, play the video game, it must be more fun to play than to just watch him do it.]
no subject
Don't shove your responsibilities off on me.
[ grumble grumble. ( yet she's actually internally pleased she can experience this firsthand ). a glance at the map... and all right. okay. she saw him play this enough, she knows that the stick thing moves the character on the screen, and if she presses a button then she goes faster! she thinks. which is good since holy shit why is he so slow--
she hits the wrong button, and the inventory pops up. ]
Huh? What is this thing?! [ sousei. sousei help-- ] Is that an axe?
[ WHAT KIND OF GAME ARE YOU PLAYING ]
no subject
Yes, it is.
[...do you need more information than that--]
It is for cutting down trees. [SO HELPFUL. he's not sure if she would need further clarification. She does sound a little scandalized, but he can't quite figure out why.] It is not for killing people, if you were concerned about that.
[he's well-aware it could be a weapon but this is a peaceful game okay!!!]
no subject
of course it's for cutting down trees, she knew that. why would she think it's for killing people? god. ]
You said it, not me. I wasn't... [ thinking about that, she was going to finish, but instead settles on shaking her head. moving on. (there's still something so ominous about having an axe sitting right next to a shovel.....) ] How do I close this? I can't see the screen anymore.
[ abe no gamefaqs, help. ]
no subject
[Aka the 'Y' button, but shockingly, he's not particularly familiar with western letters!!! Okay, that's not shocking at all, Japan is only just now starting to have to deal with Westernization.
To him, it's just a weird symbol....
In response, Sousei just shakes his head.]
It is a non-violent game. There are no dangers. [It's... kind of peaceful...?? Which is weird to him, because he lives what is the opposite of a domestic, civilian life.]
no subject
[ top left, top left... ah, there. okay. there it goes, the stupid screen. now she can finally see the character, and try this again. stick thing, move. button to go faster, not the one in the top left-- this one?
little character runs, and she stops. pressing it again, more running. maybe the smile that shows on her face from that is a little bit too much for something of so little consequence. it's oddly cute... oddly fun... moving onward to square e4 to get a stupid basketball hoop.
run, run, run... right through a fair bit of flowers, one square of which goes poof in a shower of pixely petals.
milla runs on. ]

[Racing games, fighting games, he's just not that into it.
On the other hand, Milla sure seems to be getting into this. In a way, he's glad. It's a good smile, and she's been a little too stressed out over this entire situation. No, it's not a good one in any way, but they can't spend their entire time here brooding over it either. Sousei
is incapable of looking into a mirrorknows how important it is for people to smile sometimes......and then she runs over his flowers and all thoughts of smiles are gone, replaced with his inward wince.
His beautiful symmetry.................. of course. Of course.
He doesn't say anything about it, however, letting her carry on and metaphorically biting his tongue.]
no subject
she continues her focus and her smiling as she destroys sousei's hard work. ]
Your troublemaker friend. [ she... thinks. ] I don't need to know him to figure out the things he likes. Loud? Flashy?
[ getting closer to kitty!! ]
no subject
[He's not really surprised that Milla nailed Tenka so easily. Tenka's always been loud and obvious--all of his secrets aside. But those aren't really necessary to figuring out what sorts of video games he likes.
Sousei watches Milla destroy all of his hard work in grim silence.]
Tenka tends to be an open book; he is not difficult to understand.
[He's not fond you're IMAGINING IT]
no subject
pause enough to momentarily look away from the screen and lower her hands holding the fancy technology slightly, her glance moving to sousei. ]
That's not the kind of person I imagined you keeping around. [ and her eyes go back to the game. that's not what she wanted to say, it was something more like how do you even find someone like that, and keep them from childhood. it's… a point of jealousy, honestly, and she moves to kitty to try to get that off her mind.
… except she has no idea how to talk to kitty, so milla just ends up running into her continuously. ]
no subject
I did not have a choice in the matter. His father took me in, and thus I had to deal with him.
[So...tartly.... does he like Tenka or hate him, who knows.... Regardless, then he watches Milla bump into that poor character for a few moments before he offers up--]
It is the button next to the one from before.
[just hit the a button.]
no subject
What? A basketball hoop? Oh, I was wondering what that thing in the corner of my room was, mrrowr. I completely forgot about it! Give it back, will you? I'd do it myself but I'm just waaayy too busy! Thanks!
... and of course now she has to double back. another confusing thing: she says she's busy, but kitty just continues walking around doing nothing, and milla's brow furrows even further at that. sousei, this game. why are they both so weird. ]
"Took you in"? [ honestly she shouldn't ask about details considering it's no business of hers, but since he brought it up... ]
no subject
He thinks, maybe, she expects too much at times. But he did bring it up. So at the very least, he'll honor that.]
Yes, when I was a young child, I was taken in by Tenka's family.
[But he's really not planning on elaborating further, so he changes the subject.]
You seem to be handling this errand fine now, but you look confused.
