[Tenka comes home the morning after all the madness only after Shirasu called him out. And he's tired. He's tired and he's exhausted and honestly not much of a morning person, despite all the comparisons people make between him and the sun.

Either way, he's trudging his way into their home now and going to sit in front of their low coffee table, joining his partner.

Then because maybe, just maybe these past three days have been hard on him-]

So I woke up alone this morning.

That was nice.

So he doesn't fall over.]

and he's already made it to Sousei's shoulder so he's going to try to mess up his hair

Yes. [he is. But as he stares at Tenka with Tenka's hand on his head, he just

blinks. That slap on the cheek stung a little okay.]

[And now he's trying to push himself up off the table to sit up properly.

Except that's not happening, instead he's just going to flop over again

this time in Sousei's general direction

[If Sousei hadn't been drunk as well, he would have been able to take Tenka's weight without anything more than irritation.

But...he is. So he can't. Tenka flops on him, and he topples, off-balance. And hits the floor with a thud, Tenka on top of him.

Ugh-- [ow that hurt] Get off!

See? You finally got hurt for me for once!!

sousei shoves him off then]

That's not the same and you know it!

[and tenka lets himself be shoved off and he lands with an 'oof!'

but even then he's doing this weird thing where it's a mix of yawning and laughter]

Ehh, good as it's gonna get.

[Now Sousei is also lying on the floor, staring at the ceiling, and he...just pauses.

There are other ways that he could be hurt on Tenka's behalf, and not all of them are physical. If the Orochi thing happened--

I hope so.

[It's just said softly, even as he sighs and slowly pushes himself up to a sitting position.]

Go to sleep.

[It's hard to say if Tenka follows the train of thought.

Probably not.

But when Sousei sits up, Tenka sighs and makes the effort to do the same, slowly this time so that he stays upright. Then he pauses and seems contemplative for a second.

Then he throws one arm around Sousei and then the other one. Dumb, physically affectionate partner.

At least his words are probably the most honest so far:]

You can't leave too.

[When he wakes up, Sousei's room can't be empty.]

[Suddenly, there's a Tenka that's far too close, but... with those words in mind, it's really hard to shove him off. It's true. He can't leave too.]

I won't.

[He can't even make that promise.

And yet...]

I will be there in the morning, and every morning after that, until we return home.

['so don't worry', he wants to say, but even drunk, those words don't come easily to him.]

You have to be.

[Because in the span of a few weeks, Tenka gained and lost one of the two people that manage to mean the world to him. He's going to see them again, he knows that.

But until then, he can't stand the thought of being left alone.

It was a fun night of drinking and Tenka stands by what he said - even now, there are good times. He's just sure if he'd still be able to think so if Sousei left too.

So he rests his forehead on Sousei's shoulder for a second.]

You made me promise not to go anywhere. You make the same deal.

[He knows. He remains still as Tenka rests his head on his shoulder, because he knows.

Tenka has lost and lost and lost, like Sousei has, but in different ways. He's been left behind too.

They've both tasted that. But Sousei is determined. He will not leave Tenka behind, no matter what it takes. He has a task he intends to accomplish, one they will accomplish together, and that will be enough.

Then they'll go home.

Together.]

I know. I promise as well. I won't go anywhere.

[He wouldn't hold Tenka to standards he won't hold himself to.]

[It's a promise.

Tenka knows that Sousei won't ever voluntarily leave him anymore - but the reaffirmation, the verbal promise helps. Words don't mean as much as actions to Tenka, but he knows Sousei is always the type to follow through on his words.

So he nods faintly before lifting his head and pulling back from that hug now, rubbing at his eyes.

For a second, his gaze is still contemplative and serious, if dazed.

Then he's grinning, the complicated thoughts dissipating.]

Alright.

Then g'night, partner.

Goodnight.

[For now, Sousei is willing to leave it at that. For now, it's enough to reaffirm that they're not going to leave each other. Soramaru is gone, but they're still there, and they will stay that way, supporting each other as partners until it came time to be reunited with him and the others back home.

So it's enough to go to bed now.

~~Except they're really drunk, so they probably don't actually make it to bed and just pass out there.... good job guys.~~]
