[ Whether it was through Oz or Ayumu, or possibly an anonymous tip-off or some other, you were invited to a small gathering! Of course, the only ones invited are non-natives to the city.

It's probably strange to be invited to a stranger's apartment, but Ayumu didn't want anyone who shouldn't be involved to listen in on what they were talking about. Had it been at a public place, that could have happened. And besides, having people over for a very serious reason also gave him a very serious reason to cook. There was a pretty wide variety of food, from finger food, pasta, meat, rice, and some desserts. He was particularly good at cooking that the people who usually ate his food back at home wanted to marry him, but whether or not you'd find his cooking delicious is up to you.

Ayumu welcomes anyone to enters most likely wearing an orange apron and a spatula on his hand. The first thing he tells anyone who enters is to remove their shoes and leave them by the door. He's got everything ready, and his apartment looks comfortable enough. There might not be enough chairs, but he set up some mats on the floor for people to sit on. His living room/receiving area was right across his dining room, so there was ample space for all his guests.

Once there's a good number of people around, he calls everyone's attention. ]

My name's Narumi, and this is probably going to be the last time you'll see me. [ Socialising is hard. ]

I arrived here just before Halloween. I want to know about the strange things that have happened before I arrived. From my experience, there might be a pattern to these disruptions. The CEO apparently dismisses these as "glitches." The ghosts and people losing a sense or their entire body is one.

New people usually arrive every two weeks, but there weren't any lately. They should have arrived the past week. A disruption was probably supposed to happen, too, but it didn't. I don't know if this is another "glitch" or not, but it's definitely a change from what you'd probably call "the usual".

If anyone who has been here longer can talk about past "disruptions", then the floor is yours. Knowing when and how long they happened would be good to know too. If we can at least figure this out, then we'd be able to have less casualties. I'm sure at least one person here in this room has died in this place already.

I also probably wouldn't talk about what happens here through those devices they gave us. It'll help to be careful.

If anyone would like to notice his interior, there's practically two flower vases in each room, decorated with irises and lilies of the valley. There's also a keyboard somewhere in the living room. The instrument, not the gadget.

If anyone wants to play around with the idea of stirring up trouble, please assume that Ayumu will throw a slipper at any troublemaker's head.

Virtual reality, huh... I wouldn't call them common. There's only one as advanced as ViViD that exists that I know of, and it's used for therapeutic purposes-- even then, it wasn't finished. [But nevertheless it'd been used, because it'd been an emergency and Naegi desperate.]

Stuff that's less advanced than that is around, but it was still in development.

Haptics are, like I said, tactile feedback technology. What that means is that they can recreate a sense of touch... Like, if you went in ViViD and touched the grass and you could feel it as grass, it's not because you're actually touching grass. Something is just able to mimic the sensation of touching it.

Haptics use vibrations or sometimes electrical signals... and the ones here probably use even more types of ways.

Can you really use things like electrical signals to generate a sense of touch...? [It doesn't make sense. He's still barely able to understand harnessing electricity.]

Things like prosthetic hands can actually move like regular hands because they can pick up on the electricity in the muscles. Mind you, the technology is more advanced here... but there're all kinds of things you can do with electricity.

[Tenka takes a second to digest that information, humming thoughtfully. So the human body generates electricity? That's how the body is capable of moving sometimes - through the nerves that send electrical signals to one another. So if you lack that electrical signal, then--

Tenka's gaze loses its spark of life for a second, consumed by a momentary sadness.

Then he closes his eyes and smiles and when he opens his eyes again, he's right back to normal - perhaps even amazed. Better than normal.]

So even medicine has come that far with technology in modern times....! Amazing!

[Hinata thinks that he sees that look for a moment, thinks, but it's so quick and Tenka's so quick to smile afterward that it leaves him confused. And why would he look like that anyway? He makes himself blink hard a couple of times, nods slowly.]

Y-- yeah. One of Komaeda's hands is a prosthetic, though you wouldn't be able to tell to look at it.

I guess it's been especially in the last hundred years or so it's grown so quickly.

That's still really amazing.... When I first came here, I had to talk to the people here about some medicines that my old doctor back home gave me, but they gave me stuff that was even better! Crazy how they can manage that.

[If Tenka feels any differently with Hinata asking about his medicine (and he does, he feels a coil in his stomach, the lightest veil of paranoia), it doesn't show. Instead, he laughs faintly and shakes his head.]

'course I am. But Aniki's from a pretty rough and tough time period, Hinata-kun! I need to keep my strength up!!

[Hinata just purses his lips with as severe as expression as he can. Leave him and his look alone. It's all worry and he's not about to go denouncing it as anything else.

But he allows himself to be grudgingly assured by his words and so sighs, folding his arms over his chest.]

[Definitely worry. Which is why Tenka's laughing in response and reaching out to pinch Hinata's cheek!!]

[Hinata IS TRYING TO HAVE a serious moment here though he wonders for a moment if Tenka's defusing it on purpose. It only sends the worry away a little just so you know, it nestles in the back of Hinata's mind along with his enormous pile of other things to worry about daily.

...But, for now he's making a series of sounds that's like "let go of me", unimpressed.

Self-control. Calm. Don't reach out and grab at Tenka's cheeks even if you really want to, Hajime.]

[Yeah, it's kind of on purpose and also kind of because he gets annoyed when people worry about him. So Tenka just laughs... okay he was expecting more flailing and this is less fun, so he lets go.

Still though, he's perfectly happy then, giving Hinata a smile. Then he repeats:]

I'm fine, Hinata-kun. Better than fine - I'm invincible, alright? Just believe me.

[Hinata raises his eyebrow at him, reaching out...

And he grabs at Tenka's cheek with his fingers. Nobody's invincible, he thinks. But outwardly-- okay, if Tenka's really insisting on being reassuring, he'll go along with it.]

Your face is pretty squishy for being invincible, Tenka.
