![]() Did you think the glitches were over? Boy, were you wrong! Through the last remnants of the digital kerfluffle, the latest batch of recovered code has manifested in CERES' computer systems as the guilty parties. Yes, that's right, all incoming arrivals are now placed on the wanted list, accused of having committed the heinous crime of creating and releasing the gorg0n virus all over Cerealia. These vicious twelve have been working together all along and conspiring against CERES, and it's now up to everyone to figure out if the new arrivals are truly guilty or if they are as innocent and confused as they claim. In the meantime, CERES has dispatched assassination droids to stop the accused and bring them to justice via disembowelment. So while CERES rushes to stop the droids from committing murder, characters are perfectly welcome to a.) soil themselves b.) fight off the droids c.) run while soiling themselves or d.) cry a lot. e.) ask for assistance!

Welcome to CEREALIA's latest intro post. For your convenience, we have compiled a post detailing everyone's arrival experience and a FAQ that should explain everything in more detail. Please read them thoroughly before playing. Thank you! |

. . .
Aniki tendencies activated.
So he's deflating almost entirely then.]
Fine, fine. Neither of us want trouble.
But yeah. Humans are weird. What're you then, if not human?
no subject
[Oona gives hi ma look too, because she knows exactly what kind of question would (usually) come next] Do not have tail anymore. Stolen. Humans are greedy. [She looks almost accusing when she says that, even though Tenka obviously isn't the one who took it in the first place, but still.]
no subject
[But honestly.... he's taking the news of her being a mermaid surprisingly in stride. Suppose that's what happens when you've got the cells of another monster coursing through your system.]
Are you doing okay now though?
[It sounds like she'd gone from the frying pan straight to the fire if she was brought here.]
no subject
You... What? [Oona splutters a moment as she realizes she's totally lost any arrogant grandstanding she'd been trying to hold onto, her face turning red as she tries to salvage this.] You were not... You do not argue? [She looks wary, like this might be a trap, but the question of how she's doing again catches her off guard.
Sheesh, you'd think no one had a kind word for her before. She looks baffled and then flustered] Of course, am fine! They say world destroyed. Who cares? No more humans. Does not matter. [She crosses her arms over her chest and looks away with a huff.]
no subject
Nope, I don't argue. I think you're right. Humans can be very greedy. But I think they can be a lot of other things too.
[ . . . and as she goes on, his face just falls a bit more.]
... Are you sure? I think I'd be sad if the world was destroyed. Even if there's no more humans, doesn't that mean there's no more ocean? No more water? Blue skies? I'm sure there were things you liked too. And it's okay to be sad that they're gone.

[She stubbornly chooses to cling to those bad things, despite the fact she's met quite a few humans that have been more-or-less nice to her here. Hate was a powerful, paralyzing sort of thing.
His comment about the ocean and sky being gone makes her flinch, hugging herself tighter as she draws her shoulders up defensively.] Is... better this way. Maybe. [But she's always prided herself on not lying, and that feels enough like a lie to make her uneasy.]
They say they can bring it back, rebuild. Family most likely did not know what had happened to me, went on-- eh... [Oona struggles with finding the right words for a moment] Coming of age? Journey. Will not go back after this. Better they do not know. But-- If can bring them back... [Despite her bravado she misses them terribly and her shoulders slump] Make better world. No humans to ruin it.

[So he doesn't blame her hatred. But he also doesn't want to see it consume her. He doesn't even know the poor girl's name, but he doesn't want to see her suffer.
The amended statement gets him to nod in agreement though.]
.... I don't know what happened to my family either. They were in my old world too. But I think that if I were to rebuild the world, I'd like to make it just the way that it was. Because if the world wasn't as it was, I'm afraid that my family might end up changing too. And I wouldn't want them to change at all.
We could be different there, though. But if you need help rebuilding your world, helping your family - I want to help you, if you'd let me.

[That's where she thinks Tenka is wrong-- after all, her family was from the deep, deep sea, with no human interactions. There were stories, yes, warnings of the dangers when traveling the open ocean.
Later, when she thinks back over this conversation, she'll remember the story of how her grandparents met thanks to human involvement and think on the uncomfortable implications of a world with no humans. But for now she just sneers before huffing as she draws herself up.
She's a tiny thing at 5'3'' (and a half, thankyouverymuch), but she lifts her chin and regards him with narrowed eyes.]
Why? Why care? Why bother? Am nothing to you and can offer nothing.
no subject
Well, then I think those few very good humans are important. I'm glad you met them.
[Though now at the mention of why he cares... he just blinks before he shrugs.]
I'm not asking you to offer me anything. I just think that family's the most important thing in the world. If I can help you get back to them or give them a good life, then I will. If you don't trust me, that's alright. But if you ever need help, I'm offering it.

Very mermaid-like thing to stay. [There's some reluctant approval there and she drops her hands to her hips, sighing deeply. Families were everything to her people, hence why they stayed or joined family clans or started their own. Mermaids on their own were rare.
She thinks of her brothers and sisters, the ones she left behind and the new ones that might have been born in her captivity; it made her heart ache uncomfortably and after a moment she makes a loud noise.] Bah! Told you, humans annoying! Poking nose where it does not belong! Do what you want. Can not stop you.
[Oona looks at him, trying to keep her feigned annoyance.] Did not even introduce yourself. Rude.
no subject
Glad you approve then.
[Because his brothers are his entire world.
Still though, when she makes a loud noise he's just laughing good-naturedly in response.]
If you say so then! But I didn't figure that knowing my name would make a difference. I'm Kumou Tenka - but you can call me Ten-nii or Aniki, if you want.
no subject
[Of course, that means she has to give her name now too.] Oona. Just call me that. Ani...ki?
[Weird name. She shakes her head and runs a hand through her hair with an air of resignation. So she's saddled with another weird human. Great.]
Spent too much time talking. Will be targeted soon-- they are looking for new arrivals. Keep head down, do not be so stupid and yell at screens.
no subject
[Still though he doesn't sound too bothered. Then he just chuckles and grins.]
Don't worry too much about me. I'll manage, I'm sure. Though I guess that probably means you shouldn't hang around me right now if you want to avoid trouble.
no subject
But he's right at that, the last thing she wants is to get caught up in this craziness, especially since Oona's not a target to begin with. She still looks surprisingly reluctant as she steps back though.]
...Make good point. Will leave. [She pauses, looking like she wants to say more; at length she scowls, looking angry that he's making her feel feelings how dare he, and snaps at him] Do not get killed! Do not be stupid! Had this entire conversation, only for you to die? Would be angry! So do not!
[YEAH TAKE THAT. And with that said, Oona runs off, huffy]
