![]() Did you think the glitches were over? Boy, were you wrong! Through the last remnants of the digital kerfluffle, the latest batch of recovered code has manifested in CERES' computer systems as the guilty parties. Yes, that's right, all incoming arrivals are now placed on the wanted list, accused of having committed the heinous crime of creating and releasing the gorg0n virus all over Cerealia. These vicious twelve have been working together all along and conspiring against CERES, and it's now up to everyone to figure out if the new arrivals are truly guilty or if they are as innocent and confused as they claim. In the meantime, CERES has dispatched assassination droids to stop the accused and bring them to justice via disembowelment. So while CERES rushes to stop the droids from committing murder, characters are perfectly welcome to a.) soil themselves b.) fight off the droids c.) run while soiling themselves or d.) cry a lot. e.) ask for assistance!

The arm around his back he keeps, to keep Tenka stable, but what he says is--]
You should have told me.
[But he also should have realized.]
... If you are missing something to keep you living, then we will find an alternative. If you are unable to stand on your own, then I will act as support, whether you would like me to or not.
You are not allowed to die again, Tenka. There are too many people you would leave behind who still need you.

[Wow, what an attractive noise.
Except honestly he's not expecting to be hefted onto his feet quite that suddenly, so that's what surprise got out of him. And now he's just.... sighing. Honestly, he's doing his best to straighten to make sure that he's not leaning too much against Sousei.
He's being a burden again, isn't he?
That much... that much is enough to be difficult for him to swallow.
But he can't disagree with the last part. All too easily, he thinks of Soramaru and Chuutarou. So he sighs, a sound that's caught between exasperation and fondness.]
I need to save my brothers. [He doesn't know what happened to them. He doesn't know what's going on with Soramaru, he doesn't know what happened with Shirasu, he doesn't know where Chuutarou even is. There's so much that he doesn't know, but what's absolutely for certain is this:] I'm not giving up until I see them again.
[ . . . who knows what will come after that. He'll think about it one step at a time.
If he can even manage those steps without keeling over, anyway.]
no subject
Because he's offended.
He's offended that now, when he's offering what is basically an olive branch, Tenka would try to stand on his own nonetheless.
High, mighty and alone.]
You are also not allowed to give up. You have chosen the life you currently lead, 14th Head of the Kumou Shrine.
[Sousei lifts his head, expression lightening, because quite frankly--]
I would only be able to call someone who stands by his decisions my partner.
[Even if those decisions had caused heartache. Even if those decisions had been bad ones. Even if those decisions had led Tenka to walk away from him. They were still his decisions, and now they are here, with the consequences of them--and Sousei is willing to, at the very least, mend that bridge.]

Regardless, this is something that Tenka's used to, so even once he's a heap on the ground, ungraceful and a little broken, he's just huffing indignantly. What did he even say to deserve that? He thought that he was saying the right thing - he has a purpose. He won't stop until he has that purpose fulfilled.
. . . but to not give up-
He wrinkles his nose.
The frustration builds because what decisions is he supposed to stand by? Why is there a caveat to them being partners? That's awful, as far as he's concerned. Sousei shouldn't even offer the position at all if he's going to put limitations on it.
And it's that sort of thing that gets the rest of Tenka's irritation to bubble over.]
Like my decision to leave the Yamainu? Like my decision to let my brothers and the townspeople to cry over my execution? Like my decision to keep living off the monster that brings suffering to my hometown?
[How can he be proud of any of that? It made sense to him at the time, of course it did. He did what he had to, he'd always thought, but-]
How am I supposed to not regret it when I've hurt people? My brothers? The people of Shiga? The Yamainu? You?
[He gives up on any sense of decorum now, falling flat on his back and looking up at the sky. It's easier than staring down an empty road surrounded by foreign architecture and buildings that don't look anything like home.
This sky doesn't look like home either, but dammit, he has to try.]
I did what was required of me, I always did - but... does that mean that's the right decision?
no subject
Because Tenka did what he had to do, and while Sousei doesn't agree with the decisions, he knows that that's the case. And those choices can't be undone.
The life he's lived can't be unlived.
Sousei waits, and when Tenka asks, he has an answer ready. He's had so much to say to Tenka. And he doesn't intend to hold back, now that he can finally say it all. He's had so much on the tip of his tongue, and Tenka was dead, and now--
Now he'll say it.]
You were always such an irritating, selfish, loud-mouthed teacher. [Sousei crosses his arms, looking out at an unfamiliar, foreign, futuristic city.]
...But the things you taught me, I have carried with me, and I will not forget them. [He will carry that dream that Tenka offered him, no matter what. He won't ever give it up.] Because you were also a worthwhile teacher, and someone worth following.
Now it is your turn to learn. [Because Tenka can't always live as the charismatic guide to everyone else. He has to, at some point, grow himself.] Learn from your past choices, and if you require further understanding, I will return the favor.
[Just as Tenka did for him when they were children.]

Even as Sousei's finishing his list of complaints, Tenka's burying the heels of his palms against his eyelids. The pressure is distracting and maybe takes away a bit from the fact that Sousei feels the need to continue to add insult to injury - literally.
. . . or well, that's what he's thinking until he continues on.
Was he someone worth following? Was what he was doing right?
He's silent as he can already feel the pinpricks of tears, applying more pressure from his hands even as he does nothing but breathe and listen.
Does he need to learn? What more does he need to learn? How much more does the world have to offer him?
And it's with that thought that a bit more clicks into his place. He wants to know what his brothers' smiling faces look like when the sky is clear again. He wants to know what excuse Shirasu has to offer for causing such a ruckus. He wants to know what Kiiko looks like when she's not on the job. He wants to know if Ashiya has a comfortable place to live now, if he's finally made friends with the rest of the Yamainu.
He wants to know just how much his partner is willing to put up with.
So his voice is scratchy, rough with emotion as it is, even as he strains a smile.]
... Jeeze, you're way too much, Sousei. You'd probably be a shitty teacher too, you know.
[ . . . and yet, he breathes another sigh.]
But I guess that score should be settled.
no subject
The weight of all of those things that would never be shared had been much too much.
And now, as if it's too good to be true, Tenka is right here, lying before him and breathing, and even if he sounds as if he's going to cry, he's still so very Tenka.
Sousei scoffs, a sound that only Tenka draws out of him.]
It should be, and it will be. But for now...stand up.
[He'll offer a hand, because you don't get a partner without the assistance. You don't get to stand alone, when you agree to have a partner.]
We have work to do.
[There is still a lot he needs to know about Tenka's situation. There is still a lot that has been buried for the both of them. But lying on the ground in a city that isn't theirs when enemies stalk their path is not the time.
There will be time. And Sousei was quite sincere when he said he didn't intend to allow Tenka to leave again. So for now, he'll support him, until they can be safe, and then they will talk about everything, and he will see if they really can finally see eye-to-eye.]
