The Gifts that Keeps on Giving ((You)) Nightmares

It's been a whole month without any new arrivals. Who knows why? If you ask CERES, they won't bother with any in-depth explanations. They will simply claim that none of the code out there has been responding to their recovery methods, so they had to rework a lot of their technology. However, after several weeks of grueling work, they have finally experienced success! A fresh new batch of faces is coming in, and to celebrate their arrival and the real upcoming holidays, CEO Julius Vincere has arranged for a Christmas-themed carnival for all to enjoy.

Those who arrive will wake up in Cerealia and be given a long, boring explanation and powerpoint as per usual before being ushered onto a bus (there is no escape. The robots will force you onto the bus one way or another). You will be unwillingly carted to the theme park where you will be immediately assaulted by a giant array of lights followed by several rides that you can enjoy. After you disembark from the bus, one of the snowman robots will be waiting to give you tickets to the rides and show you around as part of the Grand Opening. The amusement park will remain open for the rest of the month of December so anyone can visit as they please. The first couple tickets will also be on the house for new arrivals, but the rest will have to be bought with credits, so choose wisely! (Or try and sneak into the rides -- then face the wrath of the snowman robots and their snowman firearms :D)

PHASE I

[ xxxx ] Do you like ferris wheels? This is an enchanting one where you get to ride around in a giant snowflake at a very limited speed. The wheel will turn excruciatingly slow before stopping abruptly, leaving you trapped at the very top. We hope you're not afraid of heights because you're going to be in there for a while! The windows on the snowflake will rapidly darken leaving you and your fellow riders trapped in the darkness. At that moment, you will feel something warm breathing down your neck and along the back of your ear. As you reach over, you'll feel like the chair underneath you is made of snakeskin, and a hissing sound will intensify as the "chair" squirms and as the breathing gets louder and hotter. Scrabble at the doors, fight your way out! Will you escape or not? Probably not, but the experience will last only a good five minutes before the lights come back on and before the ferris wheel starts moving again. The chair will appear as normal, and there will be no one else inside except any fellow riders who came with you.

PHASE II

[ xxxx ] If the ferris wheel didn't "do it" for you, then perhaps a fun house will? If you're a fan, that is! This Christmas-themed funhouse features a wonderful walk through a snowy forest convered in singing reindeer. The more you walk through, the more you will notice things like within the distorted mirrors, there will briefly appear strange specters. You will also hear a bunch of howling in the background, and while you may think that you're safe since they're trapped behind a mirror, you are very wrong. The lights will go out once more, and you will hear the mirrors shatter all around and feel yourself being grabbed and hurled to the ground. Whatever is coming for you is something you can't see, but it's advancing fast with impressive strength to hurl you back once more. You will feel pain erupt through your body before an engineer will appear to get the lights back on. Once they're back on, the reindeer will be happily singing, and all the mirrors will appear as they were before -unbroken.

PHASE III

[ xxxx ] After those interesting adventures, another option would be to simply visit the rocking santacoaster, a large, sprawling roller coaster that reaches 150 mph. You will be strapped into a sled and be shot through the tracks where you can scream and cry all you want except once you reach the tunnel, everything will come to a sudden stop (whiplash pending). You and the other riders will be in there for a few minutes, surrounded by a dozen santas as they start to fly out from the tunnel walls, carrying swords and swooping down to take a swipe at you. You better duck or be prepared to be cut up by their blades. The rollercoaster will abruptly resume, and when you reach the end, you might notice some bleeding, a little bit of hair missing, or some clothes shred up. If you ask the snowman robots about it, they will just shrug and claim they don't know what you're talking about. Please go enjoy a snowcone on the house!

PHASE IV

[ xxxx ] The Christmas whirl will be your last stop for the evening! This is a ride that goes round and round and round while tilting. Everyone will be strapped into it while standing up and forced to hold on as it spins, and somewhere in the midst of the spinning, the ride will suddenly malfunction. Yes, big surprise there! But it won't stop spinning. It will just be a rockier ride, and you will seemingly enter a new space where you will be among the stars and seeing planets all around you. Your own home planet will be amongst them before it breaks open like an egg and out crawls a friendly visitor. If you get bit by it, you will spend the rest of the day and night experiencing an array of possible symptoms, including: a voracious appetite, a fear of light, the urge to 'mate' with anyone who smells especially good, heightened senses, the ability to climb on all kinds of surfaces, irritability and crankiness... (( you don't have to experience them all. you can pick and choose which one you like. ))

BONUS

[ whyo'clock ] What's that jingling you hear in the background? Why, it's Santa Clause! Coming here all the way from the North Pole. The park will stop, and all the snowman robots will gather in the square, ushering along as many people as possible. Santa-Bot X-3 will be seated on his chair to welcome all visitors to sit on his metaphorical lap and tell him what they want for Christmas. He will then give them a nicely wrapped present and tell them that it's exactly what they asked for, but they can't open it until they get home. For those who can't wait and choose to open it quickly, they will get some nice treats from Mundus Caelestis. But beware! Those who do take this gift home will experience a weird after-effect as the lovely red and white toy will come to life on its own and hop out of the box that evening to try and violently electrocute the owner. The other one is completely harmless.

[Naoki's expression relaxes even more-- into a proper smile, one shoulder hitching up slightly.] You're welcome. Glad we both got outta there unscathed, even if whatever-it-was was trying to make sure we didn't.

[A shake of his head. But, now that they're out of immediate danger...]

You were talking with me earlier through that... [A wave of one hand, he doesn't know what to refer to Juno as.] ...and would you normally be able to get a reading through that too?

[She recognizes the sound of a blade when she hears one. Weapons... weapons. Suddenly she remembers that she can fight, even if her friends aren't near... so after recovering, she pulls out her trusty staff, hardening her expression as she stands upright in a defensive position.

At the same time, Hubert's gunshots ring out all around, which makes her jittery before realizing they're his. It's so hard to see-- she's waiting for a monster, any kind of monster.

Then she's on the ground again, slammed, and it sounds like the same thing happened to him as they're separated. She opens her mouth to call out his name, and quickly realizes she doesn't even know it yet.]

H- Hey! I think we're gonna need to speed up our exit plans...!

[...GOOD ENOUGH.]

[ oh god. If she knows Tieria better, she'd be carrying Haro by now because ABSOLUTE CUTENESS. But she doesn't, so she's pretty shy and probably won't... do it unless he asks her to. ]

That just mean he's learning! [ She giggles, and then gives Haro a thumbs up. ] I think it's pretty cool that robots can learn things as they go on about with their daily lives. They're kind of like humans in that way, you know? And sometimes, they make better friends.

[ It's at this point that Athena shows her inexperience with humans. She's just more used to having robot friends than human friends that she says that. ]

[ Let’s hope she DOES find out, because everyone should be grilling Jaune about this! However, he did not expect this stranger to know Yang, so here’s a perfect segway to move on from the subject of virginity. Maybe. ]

Oh, great, you two are partners-in-crime, why am I not surprised? –But wait a second, d-does that mean Yang made it here, too?

[ Despite everything, he does worry about team RWBY almost as much as he does about his own group. They’re pretty tight friends, after all. ]

[ Apparently violence is the only solution available to deny the Snowtron's hug because just as Tieria kicked his away, he gets a face full of bot boxing a few steps away. Impressive, really. He wonders if Hallelujah can do that much damage in just two hits but now is not the time to think of his comrade because all it does is make him even more irritated at his situation.

But another look at brawling stranger surprises him. That's Cliff Fitir who helped him out back in the film theater, Tieria would recognize that tank of a body anywhere. ]

Cliff Fitir. [ He calls out as he approaches him, with a Haro bouncing behind him and a rather girly drawstring bag over his shoulder. ]

[She gives him a thumbs up.] You got it! [And why shouldn't she have faith? She'd seen Asbel and the others survive some pretty amazing things. They were resilient if nothing else. Her too! Besides she knew if she had survived the others would have to.

It's still pretty good to get a confirmation on that though. Sure she believed it but now here's prove of that. Oh! She totally has to tell Yata this. He'll be really glad to hear it.

She'd be pretty happy to see anyone's face but her reaction to Hubert might be slightly more enthusiastic. Just a little.

She thumps her chest and grins proudly.] It's been around for a few months so you can bet I know all sorts of things. Easy-peasy! You can count on me! [Ah but to him it'll probably feel like he only just saw her. The timelines here, man. They're whack.

Ah but there is something way more important here...

Pascal points to the gifts now on the ground at his feet.] But hey, you dropped something there. Who'd you get those gifts from?

[ He looks both to his left and right, checking out what viable options for escape there are. He isn't opposed to fighting her, either. He'd just rather avoid confrontation since they're in public. ]

Is that what it's called? I just thought of it as a toy. [ And now he laughs. No more talk about eyes. ] Thanks for the info!

[Oh...he kind of understands that! Sort of?]

It's not a part of my home's culture either. At least, I don't remember anyone ever mentioning it. I went somewhere once that had it though...the decorations were pretty, and I liked the presents. Though the official things weren't quite as nice. [Wait, that's not the point.] Um, but if that's what they celebrate there, it makes sense that they'd want you to join in, right?

[She sounds offended by the comment!]

[Well this just got really weird really quick.

Or at least, weirder than it already is. And it's already pretty damn weird.]

Thirty-four--! You can't be serious! I dunno what you're talking about but like, I know stress can make you age prematurely but it's a whole different story when you actually think you're seven years older!

[He's pretty sure his head is actually spinning at this point. He just can't comprehend this on top of all the other stuff sprung on him today.]

[ He's usually the one lecturing others for their misdeed but to have it reverse onto himself, by someone younger no less, is quite refreshing, for the lack of a better word. Still, Tieria understands he kind of brought it upon himself so he nods instead of mouthing off at the boy in retaliation. ]

It won't happen again. [ He offers no other excuse because that's completely unnecessary. Seeing that the situation is longer a danger to Tieria or it's little mechanical life, the Haro that rolled off to avoid the Snowtron returns to Tieria's side. ] Tieria! Tieria!

...yeah, I think we both could use something like that. [He's gonna. Scoot a little close to Mabel though because stranger danger and all that jazz.]

I don't know if I'd call us partners-in-crime, but we're friends. [Because if they were partners-in-crime, he thinks he would be exempt from her teasing but he's not at all. In the least.

He's watching Jaune thoughtfully.]

She's been here for a little while, along with Blake and Ruby.

[Well. That was a pleasantly familiar voice to hear in all of this. Cliff glanced over his shoulder at the slim young man, a smile glinting in his eyes.]

Yo. Tieria. Man, you don't even know how nice it is to find someone who makes sense around here!

[Between the unpleasant surprises tht lurked in all of the rides and novelties, and the absurd level of Christmas cheer that permeated every inch of this place, finding the level-headed Tieria was a welcome treat.]

Right! Then stay low!

[She keeps her head down, reaching out with her senses to try and predict when the next one will fall.]

That...I guess...could work.

[She casts around, willing to go along with it even though it seems silly.]

Do you have some string? Because I do not.

[Shirou nods once.]

The apartments aren't completely safe. A couple of weeks ago some of us got locked into them. Did anyone tell you this before?

Yeah, and I'd be less annoyed if that were the only reason, kid. [Cliff shook his head wearily, and rested his hands on his hips.] It's just fact that they're not letting us be ourselves that bugs me, and the fact that they're not budging on the matter. So, while Christmas ain't so bad on it' own, I just don't celebrate it out of principle.

[It's a loud smack, but the car seems pretty sturdy...]

I just...I felt something on my neck!

[In a voice akin to a 12 year old trying to sound like an old man, the odd guy whispers to his coat for a second and stops walking, so he can answer Pearl's question.]

Of course, young lady. But be careful, he can be a little hammy sometimes. [Is that someone trying to hide their laughter coming from this guy's coat? Weird.]

[Dipper, he's your height and probably half your strength, you could probably knock him over without trying if you needed to -

But the fact that they both said yes gets a smile from him, and he'll hold one of the cakes out to the both of them! It's even got chocolate drizzled across it.
He's not walking any closer though, since these kids are like what... eleven?? No need to scare'em when he's trying to cheer them up or something.]

You definitely look like you do, that's for sure! Those were quite the frowns you had going, there.
Ah - and my name is Hanamura Teruteru! [Pick one, he doesn't care -] I'm one of the new arrivals to the city, unfortunately, so food is about all I can help you with...

[Maybe if he was a nurse he could whip out some bandaids for any wounds from those rides, but alas! Comfort food is good enough, right??]

[ Only Yogi will ever approve Tieria's sense of fashion or the lack thereof. Unfortunately, Tieria doesn't know this and instead assumes that Yogi is interested in what's inside the bag so he adjusts it to rest further behind him. ]

[Yue's dodge skills are next to nonexistent, and his natural reaction to surprise attacks is generally to stand like a deer in headlights. So is it any surprise that he fails to dodge the Snowtron 5000? No, he's getting knocked down like a bowling pin.

Luckily the robot's not too heavy...]
