![]() It's been a whole month without any new arrivals. Who knows why? If you ask CERES, they won't bother with any in-depth explanations. They will simply claim that none of the code out there has been responding to their recovery methods, so they had to rework a lot of their technology. However, after several weeks of grueling work, they have finally experienced success! A fresh new batch of faces is coming in, and to celebrate their arrival and the real upcoming holidays, CEO Julius Vincere has arranged for a Christmas-themed carnival for all to enjoy. Those who arrive will wake up in Cerealia and be given a long, boring explanation and powerpoint as per usual before being ushered onto a bus (there is no escape. The robots will force you onto the bus one way or another). You will be unwillingly carted to the theme park where you will be immediately assaulted by a giant array of lights followed by several rides that you can enjoy. After you disembark from the bus, one of the snowman robots will be waiting to give you tickets to the rides and show you around as part of the Grand Opening. The amusement park will remain open for the rest of the month of December so anyone can visit as they please. The first couple tickets will also be on the house for new arrivals, but the rest will have to be bought with credits, so choose wisely! (Or try and sneak into the rides -- then face the wrath of the snowman robots and their snowman firearms :D)

Welcome to CEREALIA's latest intro post For your convenience, we have compiled a post detailing what's going on right here and feel free to consult the FAQ if needed. Please leave any lingering questions in the OOC post, and we'll answer them as soon as we can. If this post goes into overflow, we will make a new one to deal with the ever-hated captcha! no matter how many similarities may be at the core, and even if their names and basic histories may be the same, souji still considers them to be two separate people, with separate lives. it would be no different for the rest of the shinsengumi, too. it's a lot to take in, even as someone who was already aware that this possibility could in fact happen. it's still a strange situation to have to deal with, and even though he appears to be taking it in stride, there's definitely something unsettling about it. so he lets out a small sigh, shifting his stance a little—he'll still stand at every given opportunity just because he's able to. as he moves, he allows his hand to rest atop the hilts of his swords that rest comfortably at his waist. there's an understanding nod... he gets it. really, he does.]
I don't think anyone would disagree that meeting someone who is you, but not, is a much stranger situation. Things like this aren't really meant to happen, after all. It's only places like this that allow it.

[He can't help but actually laugh fondly as he speaks, and in some strange way it helps to know he's talking to someone who... well, not exactly understands, but at the very least comes from the same kind of context. Souji has always been pretty terrible at understanding and relating to people outside his very narrow scope of the world, and even when he tries it's always colored heavily by his own experiences.
He suddenly wonders idly exactly how good this version of him might be, and even though he's obviously rather sicker than the other man, perhaps after he's recovered- And then he has enough self-insight to marvel at his own man, to immediately jump to the idea of sparring with someone who has his own name and parts of his life. Perhaps later he might suggest it, but it would probably seem a bit weird to just bring up.
Though if the other man is anything like him, perhaps he'd understand.]I appreciate you taking the time to tell me, you know. I suppose this could be troublesome for you as well, especially if you've got your own comrades around, but... nonetheless. You owe me nothing, so I'm grateful. [A bright, strangely childish little smile, and he seems to regain something that for a moment had been shaken away from him.] It's a pleasure to meet you, Okita-san. [And so polite, too...]

so it's not as if the opinions of others really mattered much to him anyway.
it's a strange kind of solidarity to get from a conversation like this, that's for sure. though he'd met someone who was similar to them both, he wasn't a souji, and he'd only ever heard about other versions of himself and the shinsengumi through casual conversation. that definitely makes what's happening now something of an oddity, something that raises so many questions. their similarities are as apparent as their differences in a lot of ways, but much the same, he's not exactly ready to tactlessly question things deeply or go looking for a fight. it's not the time or place for that right now, though it'll definitely be on his list of things to do.
so instead, he just pauses for a moment as the other souji speaks. he's... polite on the outside. not that souji is necessarily rude himself when it comes to meetings like this, but he definitely doesn't meet this level of formality. he shrugs his shoulders pretty casually, though it is followed by a very slight bow of his head.]
It's fine. We're in the same situation after all, and we've got quite a bit in common. [he plays it down, but it's really just one of the ways he's changed as a result of the circumstances. having to integrate new people, doing for others what was done for him when he was new an clueless to this lifestyle—it's fine with him. he'd rather inform people and get them able to fend for themselves and fighting for their cause than fielding endless questions that should have been answered on day one, anyway.
besides, isn't that what kondou would want him to do? he's trying so hard to maintain that train of thought, even after being separated for so long.]
It's a bit strange to remain so formal though, don't you think? [they're very similar, after all.]

But where can he place these other Shinsengumi on this mental map? He doesn't know them, has never fought alongside them, wouldn't even recognize the three he hasn't met if they walked past him. All he knows is their names... and, he supposes, that they fight for the same things as he does.
Isn't that enough? Of course it is.
He beams at the other man, nodding.] Even if you're not me, not really, and even if the Shinsengumi are different to us... we have worn the same uniform and fought the same kind of battles, right? I know I'd try to help out anyone like that if I could.
[His smile turns a bit more sheepish.] I guess I'm pretty formal in the way I talk to people most of the time - even people I've known for a long time. I can try to be a bit more relaxed, though, and I don't really mind people being less formal to me.
