Who: ALL THE ~~SINGLE~~ LADIES + any crashers! Anyone is welcome if they hear the noise or just want to join in! (Feel free to assume that someone invited them!)
When: 12/12 ICly.
Where: Athena and Ryuko's apartment.
What: Ryuko wanted to do more girly things, so Athena decides to invite every girl she knows to their place for sleepover.

[ SLEEPOVER!!!!!!!!!

Athena has been excited for this for a few days now, and has been trying to get Ryuko to be as psyched as she is, but that sure didn't work.

Either way, a sleepover is happening at their place! There's five mattresses laid out on the living room floor (She's not sure how many are coming but she borrowed five from the gym, anyway), already set up with their own sheets. The pillows are stacked by the wall—there's really a lot of them—and some blankets by a small coffee table. The mattresses are pretty big that it could fit 3-4 people to sleep on them.

There's a projector sitting on the living room too, just in case people brought movies with them, conveniently facing the wall. (Probably just link the CereVice to it and it'll show whatever's playing on the CereVice, too.) OR IF YOU HAVE A KARAOKE APP...

Athena brought in some desserts from the cosplay cafe, so there's a lot of pastries. From three different kinds of cake (chocolate, strawberries and creme, and blueberry cheesecake); to red velvet cupcakes; to a buttload of macarons of all sorts of flavours; there really are a lot of sweets. if you arrive early, you might realise that it's just sweets, a bunch of chips, and soda bottles set on the table.

Where's the real food? Archer said he'll have Saber bring it with her, so that's a thing! And Athena thought they could order some delivery, too. Just so everyone gets to eat something they want. Oddly enough, there's also a plate of salt and lime on the table. Hmm, what for?

Well, no one has to look that hard enough for the reason. There's a couple of bottles of tequila and some shot glasses badly hidden in one of the cupboards, so pretty much everybody can see those. If anyone wants to start ~~body shots~~ drinking with people, then Athena won't stop them. It's a party! And law school gets just as crazy sometimes. Lord knows how much Athena wanted to try and socialise with her fellow budding lawyers, but was just awkward to do so. Thankfully, she's much better at breaking out of her shell now, otherwise, this party wouldn't even be happening. If there's anyone who tries drinking and they look like they shouldn't be (LOOKING AT YOU, MABEL), then Athena will come over and scold them like a mom.

So what else are you waiting for? Come in and take off your shoes, and make yourself comfortable! The bathroom is just down the hall, if you want to change into your jammies.

Anyway, looking at Peko's braid and then down at some hair hanging over one shoulder. It falls to lower-back level, so she definitely won't have a shortage for braiding, at least... But then, after very careful consideration:]

Very well. You have beautiful hair, so it should be fairly simple.

[Easy! Peko's done this every day since she was a child to her own hair, so surely it must be just as simple to do for someone else. She takes a nearby brush and is very careful with Kaoru's hair; it's actually a little surprisingly gentle.

A glance toward her face would reveal that she's concentrating very intensely. Doesn't want to mess this up...]

[PEKO... She needs to find an animal that can handle her intensity because no one will want to be friends with the frowning lady with a sword petting hair ties in the corner of the room!!

But Kaoru smiles at the compliment and delivers a quiet thanks, then folding both hands together and waiting patiently while she starts brushing. It is surprisingly gentle, actually... That's what prompts him to glance over one shoulder, just in time to catch her look of Extreme Concentration™. Oh no, that sure was a tiny giggle...]

Ah— It looks like you take braiding very seriously.

[People want to be friends with her anyway for some reason?! She can't figure out why this keeps happening to her, Peko Pekoyama--!

She gives a bit of a start at Kaoru's comment, letting out a bit of a strained grunt. She's so bad at this relaxing thing...]

I do not want to cause you discomfort.

[Maybe her unapproachable air is being taken as a CHALLENGE by those with GUTS!!

She's trying so hard, though... Kaoru's expression softens a little into a more reassuring smile. No need for strange Peko noises!]

You aren't, so you don't need to worry. Pekoyama-san is one of the most gentle people to brush my hair, actually.

[That smile really does make her feel better, and while she doesn't relax completely, the tense set to her shoulders does ease slightly.]

Is that... so? Do you often have others brush your hair for you?

[That's not too weird to ask, right? And surely it must be a lot of work to maintain hair this long and nice.]

[Mission Accomplished.

Kaoru faces forward again after that so Peko doesn't have to try brushing or braiding at an angle, but carries on the conversation seamlessly.]

When I was growing up, there were servants in the compound who would brush and style my hair for me. At the time, it wasn't something that I could do on my own - I had to be taught, and it took a while to learn. Even after that, some of the styles were so intricate that it would be impossible for one person to do it on their own. I'm a little grateful that the most fashionable styles in the future seem simple, comparatively...

Mm.

[Peko nods, abruptly a little self-conscious. She didn't know why she hadn't thought Kaoru might have had servants or the like to do hair, but it does make sense for the time. And since Kaoru is clearly some kind of higher-class lady, it just seems suitable.]

May I ask what sort of compound...?

Ah - the Nagumo property, where my clan lived. I spent most of my youth in the main house in the compound, but the amount of land that we lived on spread out a fair distance. I suppose it could almost be called a village... It was right by the sea as well, so it was a lovely place.

[Which is definitely worded in the nicest way possible... All the space in the world couldn't have made living there any easier, but there's only the usual mild pleasantness present even as Kaoru's hands fold together in a gesture of restraint.]

I see.

[Peko's just mentally elevated Kaoru to the level of actual nobility with that, instead of just assuming the other is a well-mannered lady. It's actually kind of nice for her to think about; where Kaoru's from seems like a more romantic time of samurai, and even the yakuza wasn't quite the yakuza yet. But she also knows it's not just all romantic stories, either, as nice as it would be to think so.]

Did you ever visit any of the cities?

[While she's speaking, she sets the brush down, parting Kaoru's hair to start on the first braid.]

[PEKO NO THAT'S AIMING TOO HIGH-- But Kaoru sure does carry an air of nobility, and the Nagumo clan was pretty high-ranking, even if it was like... underworld high-ranking, oops. Oops. But, in response to the question:]

I did, yes. [There's a brief pause after that. Kaoru tucks some excessive skirt fabric down beneath one knee somewhat absentmindedly.]

My predecessor, the clan head, passed away when I was sixteen and left me as the successor, so I took on the duties associated with it at that time. Because of that, I was able to travel across the country... I've traveled from Tosa to Edo and visited a number of cities in between, both for business and for leisure. Though I enjoy the quietness of living by the sea, there's a nice energy in the larger cities as well, I believe.

But she just nods, continuing to braid Kaoru's hair with the same kind of gentleness she'd shown when brushing it.]

I would have liked to have seen Tokyo in your time. Ah-- Edo, I mean to say. [Damn name changes, what with Westernization and all that.] Though I am more familiar with the areas around Osaka, myself.

[Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto... the place where they speak Kansai and tend to have a Reputation.]

I do not think I could have that kind of responsibility at sixteen.

[Though that might just be because it's Peko -- she's more than familiar with Super High School Levels with absurd expectations and responsibilities, her young master among them. She herself isn't cut out for that kind of role, though.]

Kaoru doesn't seem fussed with the name-slip, though. So many things about the future have been spoiled by now. So many.]

Osaka is a nice place, as well. I haven't visited as often as I'd like since most of my business takes me to Kyoto, but I've enjoyed what I've seen. [Chizuru just stays in ONE PLACE so often though, which means Kaoru also kind of stays in one place... ish. In between gallavanting around being a miscreant of lawlessness, anyway.] And if I could show you to Edo in my time, I would. It's a remarkable place.

[There's a little bit of nostalgia in those words. Kaoru drops into silence for a second or two after that, trying to keep from moving so Peko won't end up accidentally tugging any hair.]

...To be honest, I didn't think that I would, either. Still, one must adapt to the situations that they're placed into, I suppose.
