Who: Flynn Scifo, Judith, Yuri Lowell
When: 12/17 evening ic
Where: Flynn's apartment
What: Just simple chat that becomes not so simple thanks to time and game shenanigans.
Warnings: None probably!
[With another day of patrol behind him, Flynn gets up to his apartment quickly today to change and to tidy up. Having Yuri over for a chat is one thing; having Judith is another. Maybe cleanliness happens no matter the guest, but leaving some stuff around with the former feels far more acceptable than with the latter. The get together tonight isn't meant to be anything super special, just chatting about the circumstances and enjoying some pleasant company. Even so, a clean environment never hurts!
Flynn ordered out for the occasion, going to a pizza place before heading home. It isn't much and home-cooking is far superior, but the lack of time today made making a meal from scratch impossible. Next time! His friends do deserve some good cooking, after all. As soon as he enters the apartment, he sets the pizza down on the nearest counter before running to change and then tidy up. The new outfit of choice is his knight undershirt and pants since they're really the most comfortable clothes in his possession. They're also the only clean ones. Speaking of clean, that needs to happen right now
Books and work papers are the main culprits of the mess. A new world means reading up on stuff dealing with the world, like laws and government and the like. Reading all night (or most of it, at least) means lacking the time to put things back where they belong. Thankfully, unlike certain people, even his worst messes clean up quickly enough and the task is done in a few minutes. Better, much better, and with a few minutes to spare. Perfect.]

ain't nobody got time for that.
so yuri is fairly prompt, if only because he finished up a job for the day. being a part time hair model means his fabulous locks are going to grace cereal's magazines soon, via a shampoo advertisement. but that's neither here nor there. getting paid means stopping at a bakery along the way and picking up a pretty decently-size strawberry shortcake before arriving at flynn's door. he could ring the bell, but he elects to just rap against the door with his knuckles a couple of times. at least there's no mistaking who it is that way, right?]

She'll get there about five minutes after Yuri. No, she doesn't ring the doorbell either. ]
no subject
and of course someone yuri-like wouldn't ring the doorbell, either. poor doorbell, never to be used. judith gets greeted with a smile and flynn doesn't mind the tardiness. yuri may not have gotten a free pass with lateness, but she does. the least he could do after their last encounter is cut her a little slack. ...no, not thinking about that. nosebleed round two... three? won't be happening today.
he'll just focus on smiling and being a polite host. as soon as she steps inside, he shuts the door behind her.]
I'm glad that you could make it, Judith.
no subject
once he's inside, he's content to make himself at home—almost like he already lives there with how casually he treats it all. he can play the casual banter and small talk game until judith arrives, and when she does, yuri can't help but snort a little at flynn's formality with her. he barely gets a welcome and she gets the full-blown flynn scifo, polite and charming knight spiel. it's hard not to be amused by it, though he refrains from verbally addressing it. instead, he just gives judith a casual wave.]
Looks like we're all here. [which is kind of weird to say, isn't it? not when there's usually so many in their group.]
no subject
[ But she doesn't look as though she's truly troubled by her tardiness, greeting Flynn with a polite nod and lifting a hand in a light acknowledgment to Yuri. ]
I hope you didn't start the party without me.

within seconds, that smile returns full force and doesn't betray any inner uncertainty at all (it COULDN'T have been flirting, right???). ignoring it is the best course of action, yes.]
We wouldn't have dreamed of it.
[flynn makes his way over to his seat beside yuri and grabs a slice of pizza on the way. what pizza did he buy? a large meat-lovers pizza with extra topping. mmm nothing beats a heaping helping of meaty goodness.]
no subject
[yuri is casually ignoring the look from flynn—he knows it's happening, and he knows exactly why. it doesn't really need to be acknowledged any further than that, even if it's probably not helping flynn get over his hangups with accidental flirting.
but that's just yuri's way about these things.
either way, he remains where he is, sitting back casually in his seat. he'll wait until judith starts eating before he makes a grab for the pizza; even though he didn't prepare the meal, habit says that everyone else getting a start before he does is the way to go.]

She sends an affectionate thought to Ba'ul, then moves to retrieve a piece of pizza, settling down in a nearby seat with her ankles crossed neatly. ]
I am here now, so it looks as though we can proceed.
no subject
once everyone looks comfortable, flynn decides to start them off on the conversation. he glances between the two as he speaks.]
So it does. Let's start with something simple: what are both your thoughts on the situation as a whole?
[about being here, about what they were told, about those in charge etc. it's a board question on purpose since those are good discussion starters. as soon as the question leaves his mouth, a nice big bite of pizza gets taken. mmm tasty.]
no subject
[..not that it's a bad thing. when it comes to stuff like this, he much prefers not beating around the bush with things. the situation is pretty serious, so even he knows when to dial back his carefree attitude and get to business.
though that may not necessarily seem to be the case when he's shoving a slice of pizza in his mouth. and yes, he can and does appreciate the fact that flynn's on top of that—less work for him.]
I've probably got more than the both of you on this one. [since he's got a bit more time under his belt. this isn't spoken too gracefully, since his mouth is full of food. whatever, everyone can understand, right?] Let me hear what you guys got so far, and we can take it from there.
[at least, despite the mouth full of pizza, it's obvious that he's not slacking off.]
no subject
When she speaks up, the pizza is already gone. ]
I don't believe the excuse they've come up with, for bringing us here. And why it only happens to be just us, for that matter. And for such a dire situation, they seem rather unconcerned about it. I haven't heard anything else about their efforts since.
no subject
Nor have I.
[he frowns thoughtfully, collecting his own thoughts before voicing them seconds later.]
I can't say yet whether or not I believe all that they've told us, but some of their actions and the sheer indifference about them are troubling.
[that whole amusement mess. people got hurt and no one seemed to care. it honestly infuriated him to have his concerns fall on deaf ears to that degree. it reminded him of living in the lower quarter in the worst way possible.]
They were kind enough to provide us with housing and work as opposed to leaving us to our own devices, however, so I don't have reason to believe they're bad, only incompetent.
no subject
[maybe it's just because yuri is too cynical for his own good sometimes.]
I don't really buy that Terca Lumireis is gone, and I don't know much about this "code" we're supposedly part of. But something's not adding up. I heard someone say that ViViD may be some kind of training "program" or whatever. Not really sure what it's all about, or what it'd even be training for if it's true, but there are some people around looking into what the deal with these CERES guys are.
[he pauses, trying to figure out the best way to get to the point here.] They make a lot of messes, then apologize for it, but nobody really knows if that's just a cover. After telling us our worlds don't exist, they expect us to just get jobs and live like nothing is wrong... and some people really buy into it.
[not that he blames them. isn't it the same back home? it's easier to keep people ignorant and hope they just go about their business so no suspicions could be raised. look at the empire, and the knights while alexei was in charge. they did a lot of the same, lulling people into false senses of security, of using innocent people for their own purposes, of finding every excuse to not have to accept fault.
the similarities are uncanny at times, and while it's hardly the same, it feels all too familiar to yuri for him to just shrug it off.] May be better to look at CERES more like a government than a company, like they claim to be.
no subject
[ Which is concerning. Almost as concerning as the news about ViViD. Just a game, she's heard, but there seems to be more to it than that-- and why had they first appeared there?
But Flynn also brings up a good point, about why they'd bothered giving them housing, attempting to urge them to lead lives here... but why? Why is the question and so far, she hasn't heard or figured out any of the answers. ]
I don't trust their reasons for their hospitality, but then again, we still don't know their reasons. Clearly, whatever it is, they'd like us alive and cooperative for it.
no subject
[tempting as it is to draw parallels between ceres and the empire during alexei's time, flynn can't do that. similar does not mean the same. one bad egg does not mean the rest are rotten. some can call it an annoying naivete, but it's also one he's sticking to until given reason to assume otherwise. jumping the gun doesn't do any good and will lead to consequences if proven wrong.
this isn't to say flynn plans to blindly follow everything without question. no, never again. innocent people won't suffer because of a drive to be an obedient, good follower. if something smells fishy, it won't get brushed off. a couple things have rubbed him the way, however not enough so to warrant concern. for now.]
Judith also brings up a good point. Whatever the reason, they need us just as much as we need them.
[one has more control over the other, sure, but both sides need the other. should there indeed be ulterior motives, this detail alone assures their safety for the time being.]
What we need to do is ensure the safety of those back home and determine what is true versus what isn't. I see no reason not to cooperate for the time being if it leads to those.
