Case 1: Turnabout Bicyle [Open]

Where: The casino, the gym and a few places in between.
What: Examine Phoenix's life as well as his choices.
Warnings: Nothing specific?

A. The Streets (Residental/Entertainment)

[Phoenix has constantly wound up missing out on public transportation and being late for work. So, he's managed to buy himself a fairly cheap bicycle (toast not included) and today is the day he tests it. He'll be trying to bike from the residential area over to the CERES Casino in the Entertainment District in time for work. Nevermind that this is in itself is more work than he'll ever actually do in the casino.

Find him as he cycles on by, or... maybe try to give him a hand when he accidentally winds up steering into the street and has to swerve around this weird futuristic traffic.]

B. CERES Casino

[Phoenix Wright works here as a pianist. The primary indication of this is that he's usually sitting by the piano. But you'll be hard-pressed to actually hear him playing, and if you do, you may notice it doesn't sound very good at all. But rather, he seems to be spending more of his time talking up the guests and settling in for games of poker. He'll also hail down servers to get himself some grape juice.

If you try to approach him with a piano-based question, you may just get this as your response:]

Sorry, I don't play requests.

C. CERES Gym

[You may also find him winding down with some exercise at the gym. He's changed out of his blue suit and into his more hobo-ish get-up, with sweatpants and a sweatshirt. He will spend most of his time on the treadmill... briskly moving at it's lowest setting.]

D. Wild Card?

[Run into him somewhere around the residential district, entertainment district or shopping district (Christmas shopping is a thing!). Also to note that he's currently also acting as a talent agent for CERES CGI Productions, so he'll be keeping his eyes peeled for anyone who happens to be openly displaying some kind of interesting talent.]

[Phoenix gives a sheepish smile as he scratches at his head thoughtfully. He'll just ignore the subject of whether or not he'll actually play the piano while he can.]

Heh... I got three options, just like everyone else seems to. I took this one and one other.

[This guy again. Archer is a bit curious about how he feels about weapons, considering Athena's feelings. Then again, Athena is learning from Archer how about to use certain things.]

Have you ever thought about training with different weapons? It's just as energy intensive but far more useful.

[Jumping right into it. What a jerk.]

There are tricks to know? I thought it was just being able to shuffle it quickly..

[So this kid also works here. Phoenix has probably seen him around once or twice, keeping busy with whatever exactly it is a casino attendant does. And Kuzuryuu has definitely seen Phoenix more than a few times. Kinda hard to miss the guy sitting at the piano.]

[But he's never actually bothered to come over and say hi or anything. He's not the most social... Except for apparently with that silver-haired dealer girl with the braids. In spite of this, he somehow got roped into doing one of the servers a favor and bringing Phoenix his juice. This is not in his job description at all, what the hell.]

Here. [He sets the glass down on the piano...a+ serving skills. Yeeeaaaaaaa somebody get this boy a tip and/or a medal.] ...You seem to spend a lot more time playing cards than you do playing piano.

[A familiar enough sort of place, Rei is no stranger to strange places like this, and she just happens to be poking around, looking for inspiration for work. CERES has her working advertising for various attractions, including this casino. So, best get cracking, right?

Well, that's the plan, until she spots Phoenix over by the pianos, and it's plain as day that her friend is...struggling...at best. So, hope you don't mind when a teenager just taking a seat beside you.]

Have you had much training in this, at all?

Weapons? [He looks towards Archer, quite nervously.] I- I don't know... I really don't think that I'm the 'weapon' kind of guy...

M-maybe... but I'll also be wiser!

Of course we're all still lawyers, Apollo. Just not on paper. [He gives a more genuine smile.]

Yeah... But there are tricks to shuffling it quickly! And it all depends on whether or not you want to play fair.

Training? I can't say that I have. [He says with a meek smile as he lounges near the piano, reaching for a bottle of grape juice.]

All I have is seven years of experience. [At not!playing the piano.]

Seven years? [She frowns and looks to the instrument.]

I...hope you don't mind me saying, but that doesn't sound like seven years experience.

[Phoeix will awkwardly reach for that glass now while serving that eyepatched coworker with a sheepish smile.]

Have I? You know, the time sure does fly.... [As if that covers the whole issue.]

Hey, Mr. Wright. When you're fifty, do you think you'll still be a lawyer?

Oh, I'm not here to make a request. I'm here to ask if I can have your job. It seems rather laid-back.

[He's kidding, don't worry—although he does say it with a pretty straight face.]

[ . . . . . . . Phoenix, that was definitely not the question Jae-ha was going to ask.

Rather, he gives the man a withering look.]

With all due respect, my friend, I had no intention of requesting one of my preferred songs from you.

[But the fact that the last few chords you've played have been off hurt him.]

[ She's giving Phoenix a rather questionable look before laughing hollowly. ]

You're really bad at this, you know. I don't think anybody would want to even dare ask you for requests.

I wouldn't try so hard to be pathetic either. You would think it'd be useful in your line of work either way.

[The same argument he used on Athena, anyway.]

[ The former statement elicits a half smile in response. He was expecting some sort of joke, but hearing something uplifting is a pleasant surprise. ]

I don't want to cheat. I just want to be able to do my job well.

Are you sure? [He doesn't look offended at all; but he does like cryptic, complete with a smile.]

Experiences can be good or bad, after all.

Honestly, Athena? With the turns my life has taken, I have absolutely no clue.

[What if my piano career finally kicks off?]

[Hey, he has to at least try to be a mentor. He laughs at Apollo's response.]

Ah ha ha ha! That's good! You've passed the test, Apollo. That's the true key to this job, after all.
