When: 12/23
Where: Sousei's dojo!
What: Sousei has a new sparring partner.
Rating/Warning: Should be pretty PG/PG-13, but I'll update as necessary.

[ the invitation to spar hadn't been unexpected at this point. after all, they've spoken about the idea before, and souza is an uchigatana. the battle is, as they say, in his blood. being allowed to fight again is something he can hardly take for granted. so when sousei had messaged him about the idea, souza had been quick to accept. it's only a sparring-session, after all. even without the saniwa here, it should be fine. he shouldn't become injured enough to need repair.

he arrives a few minutes before the indicated time, taking a moment to admire the dojo curiously before stepping inside. it's quite different from home in some ways, isn't it? but that's to be expected in a place like this, a strange planet so far in the apparent future.

his expression lights up when he spots the human man, usual warm smile curving onto his mouth. ]

Hello! I'm a little early, I suppose, but I didn't think you'd mind.

[Sousei's been curious about the swords and their combat abilities for some time now, admittedly. They are, after all, swords. Isn't that...what they're made for?

He respects Kousetsu's desire to avoid battle, but Souza doesn't carry that same sense--no, Souza seems to be perfectly willing to enjoy a proper fight, and Sousei will never say no to an interested, skilled opponent.

When Souza gets there, Sousei was cleaning up for class, thankfully a simple affair--he nods simply to him in response.]

There is no fault in being prompt.

[He certainly doesn't mind, Souza's right about that. He straightens from where he was arranging the practice swords, and arches an eyebrow at Souza thoughtfully. Hm... something he hadn't thought about.]

Are you willing to use a bokuto?

[as opposed to his actual sword. Usually he doesn't feel the need to ask, but... it's an odd thought, since Souza is his sword...]

That will not be a concern.

[He's oblivious, of course, to Souza's thoughts on Sousei himself; for now, he just notes that information about the swords not being more than a few rooms apart from their actual sword counterparts and tucks it away. It may be necessary to know someday, and now at the very least he knows to make sure that Souza and Kousetsu are always able to have their swords close by.

In a place like this, you never know what could happen.

Either way, he nods to where his own sword rests neatly on a stand. It's not like he likes to be far from his own blade, even if it's not the same at all.]

However, this will be much safer. [and it's also a hint that he doesn't intend to hold back...because he really does respect Souza's presumed abilities.]

[... "Repaired". He supposes that makes sense for a sword, but even so, he has no idea what that could possibly consist of. Is it just like a blacksmith, repairing the blade? ...But even so, these blades are works of art, and the blacksmiths with that level of skill are no longer here (or alive).

...Well.

He takes a few paces back, putting proper distance between them, though he does not yet lift his practice sword.]

If you are physically harmed in this form, does it transfer to the blade? [This sort of information... he has to know it, if he's going to defend Souza and Kousetsu properly. As for the rest--]

... I am not inclined towards being a teacher, but yes. If nothing else, it is a familiar task.

[The rest of the time he spends here training on his own, because he's a workaholic like that.]
