![]() A few weeks prior to December 26th, an invitation went out to all whom already reside in Cerealia. In delicate, curling script, it read: You are cordially invited by Natalia L.K. Lanvaldear to a Winter Ball to be held on the Eve of December 26th in the Gardens. Dress in your best attire and enjoy a magical evening of dance and fine cuisine. What do you mean we should fuss about worlds being destroyed? Get into the holiday spirit, you scrooge! And in regards to the new-comers: whether you have been wandering Cerealia over the course of the past few days and managed to receive one of the later waves of invitations or have simply suddenly appeared in the gardens with nothing but the (hopefully…. appropriate….) clothes on your back, welcome. The gardens have been transformed through the work of

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu | ota
["Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu, Super High School level Yakuza and Heir to the Kuzuryuu Syndicate" is announced only just before "Peko Pekoyama, Super High School Level Swordswoman", a fact which probably comes as no surprise to anybody who knows them. However, despite arriving together, the two don't actually stay togethe long, since Peko has a date and other plans while this guy...not so much.]
[Seeing Kuzuryuu in a suit also likely comes as no surprise since...well, has anyone ever seen him not in one? Does he even own anything other than suits? Truly a mystery, that. In honor of the occasion, he's gone with something a bit nicer and more formal than what he usually wears, even if he's apparently still not a fan of color.]
[He'll linger near the entrance for a little while, just kind of looking around and trying to get a feel for what he should do here. He's never been to a dance before, and definitely not one this big. He knows how they're supposed to work and all but...dear lord there are so many people here.]
[Eventually though, he'll wander away towards the dance floor. Though not to actually dance, are you kidding? No, it's wallflowering to the max for this one. He's just going to find a pillar to lean against or a table to sit at and watch everyone else make idiots out of themselves on the dance floor. This seems like as good a way as any to enjoy the festivities, he thinks.]
no subject
Actually no it's not that big of a deal, he just looks kind of lonely so of course this little cutie has to slide in across from him after she's spotted him, a grin already set in place.]
Hi Fuyuhiko!
[She is so going to ask you to dance you better get ready.]
no subject
Yo. [He offers a small wave, not even looking remotely bothered when she slides into the empty seat.] You look...festive.
[That's...that's the right word for her outfit, right? Where did she even find a dress like that...]
no subject
Aww thank you! I made it myself!
[That's where she got it. Just gonna fluff up her top a little with pride.]
You look very nice too! Very handsome. [Nod nod.] Did you come here with Peko?
no subject
You're welcome and thanks...
[He did try to look nice, after all. Nicer than usual, anyway.]
Peko and I walked here together, yeah. We live across the hall, after all.
[Implying that they didn't come here together in a dating sense but just in a literal sense? Well that would explain why Peko is nowhere to be seen, at least.]
But obviously, you already knew that. [Since presents and all. Or well...he ASSUMES she gave Peko a present too, if he got one.] Thanks for that, by the way.
[The present, obviously. Part of which he's wearing this very moment! Which she may or may not have noticed if she looked at his sleeves.]

[When Kuzuryuu ends up leaning against a pillar near by where Maribelle is sat, she might end up watching him out of the corner of her eye. She hasn't really seen him since their arrival, has she, even though he's come up in conversation... She's mildly surprised that Peko isn't by his side.]
no subject
[Kuzuryuu's keeping his eye entirely on the dance floor, so he honestly doesn't even notice Maribelle for a good while. And when he does...he's honestly not sure if he should say something or not. They didn't exactly get off on the best possible foot? Not terrible but...not amazing, either. And they hadn't seen each other since.]
[But crap, he made eye contact so he really probably should say SOMETHING, shouldn't he? He can't really just turn his head and pretend he didn't see her now... So he kind of makes some attempt at formality here with a little incline of his head and an:] Evening.
[An attempt was made.]
no subject
Good evening, Kuzuryuu. [An attempt was made in response.]
[... But Maribelle really does not want to be sitting at this table alone. It is too awkward and sad and she misses Lissa and now Kuzuryuu is in too deep apparently because she pulls out the other chair at the table for him.] Won't you join me? Stone pillars are not known for their comfort.
no subject
[So with a small shrug and a "sure", he'll push himself off the pillar and come sit in the designated chair. And...uh...sit there with his arms crossed. God, he is still so bad at initiating small talk. Especially with people he doesn't know very well. Give him a minute here...]
Maribelle, right? [Look it's been how many weeks? And he hasn't spoken to anybody who's brought her up since, so he's just gotta be sure.] Enjoying the party so far?

Unfortunately there's no buildup to her question. She always has been to the point. ]
Excuse me. Are you a student at Hope's Peak Academy?
no subject
More like...former student, but yeah. You obviously don't remember it, but we've...met before. Kirigiri, right?
no subject
Former student? You must have been a couple of years ahead of me.
no subject
A year or two ahead, I think, yeah. I'm...not sure exactly how many. [What.] I'm guessing you haven't run into Hinata or Naegi yet?
[Since it sure doesn't sound like she got the whole "yeah so about that other class..." rundown yet.]

..but then again, Kuzuryuu was still a friend(?) and it was a party, so maybe they can have a pleasant conversation this time??
Probably not]
I thought you didn't like parties like this... [That being said after walking across the ballroom to him, and rubbing the back of his head awkwardly while speaking.]
no subject
[Oh my god though, Souda, what the hell are you wearing. Who let you pick your suit? Really? Neon?? WHY ARE YOU STILL WEARING YOUR BEANIE, WHAT THE FUCK.]
I'm not...crazy about shit like dancing, no, but I knew some people who said they were coming [Mostly Hinata. But also Gundam and Lee and he figured the rest of you losers would probably show up if Hinata was going.] so I figured I should probably come for a little bit, at least.
[Also he's gotten way better about parties, man, come on. Skipping parties is so five chapters ago, he's past that now.]
[Continued here.]
no subject
He's wearing those cufflinks Kuzuryuu got for him (of course he is!) and approaching with a wave of greeting, sidestepping a person or two.]
So this is where you were. [He missed his announcement--]
no subject
[Though maybe it's better that Hinata found him, instead. He actually seems pretty happy about the fact that Hinata was looking for him too. Also the cufflinks. Those two things together are enough to actually get the smaller boy to smile. Funny how Hinata has that effect.]
Heh, was I so hard to find?
no subject
Yeah. I mean, practically every guy here's wearing a suit, [with humour and a smile. O constantly suited-up yakuza, how's he supposed to find you when everyone else is just as fancy??]
no subject
I
Until, of course, he catches her staring. Then her cheeks will flush with embarrassment at being caught and she'll look off to one side.]
I-I'm not looking at you!
[She was totally looking at him.]
bless u, this is cr i've needed in my life for so long
[But he's definitely had this nagging suspicion he's being watched. Though he's never quite been able to figure out who's responsible. There are so many people here that it's really hard to tell who's always present whenever he gets that vague feeling.
And if she's been keeping to his right, well that just makes it all the easier for her to (literally) stay out of sightAt least until he happens to actually catch her in the act.]You know...saying that just makes you seem more suspicious. [Most people would have just stopped at the embarrassed looking away. Maybe said sorry. But "I'm not looking at you"?? TRY HARDER, ROMANA.] So I'm calling bullshit.
pleased to deliver it!
(Because he's an entirely different person, because he's not a member of her mafia, because he's not actually a bad guy? Maybe get to know him first before you judge him, Romana. You didn't learn to do this in 1200+ years?)
She huffs and puts her hands on her hips.]
Yeah, well, if you don't want people to look at you maybe you shouldn't act suspicious yourself!
[Except he... wasn't...]
;u;
I...what? I'm just sitting here, how the hell is that suspicious?!
[Continued over here.]
SOMETIME LATER...
And is that--?? There's Fuyuhiko, with fur like a cat. She blinks several times, but she's certain that's him. Without hesitating, she approaches, breathing a little heavily.]
Fuyuhiko, [she addresses him, and really, that should be the first hint something is wrong. There's no stutter or hesitation, even though they're clearly not alone. Instead, her eyes seem fixed on a point just above him...]
May I...?
[You're so fluffy, bocchan. She raises a hand toward his head, but is clearly waiting for permission. Can she do the mysterious thing she trailed off about??]
no subject
[Beelines for him!]
What, you're not going to dance? Or are you waiting for someone to ask you?
[NAILED IT]
