Should Oldbag Acquaintence Be Forgot
Who: The Ace Attorney cast, any of their CR, and maybe gate-crashers?! Curious neighbors and other passersby won't be turned away.
When: January 1st
Where: The Wright apartment.
What: It's never too late for a new years party, except when it is.
Rating/Warning: Nothing out there just yet
[A new years party had been in the works for a while now. But the incidents with the Santa attacks plus time suddenly skipping ahead to January 1st had caught everyone off-guard. But Phoenix was convinced to go ahead with the party anyway. It's one way to help keep spirits high after what had happened the night before.
Invitations were dispersed amongst the group of people from their world (except for a certain elderly murderer, sorry Von Karma) and the friends they've made in Cerealia (and everyone is open to invite other people as well). Everything's happening at Phoenix and Trucy's apartment, which has some simple New Years banners set up alongside some surviving Christmas decorations. The Christmas tree is still up too, just in case... but all of the decorations and ornaments featuring Santa and his reindeer have already been destroyed.
Entertainment includes a karaoke machine which plays music normally when people aren't using it, and an assortment of food is set up, with people being free to have brought their own dishes and snacks. There is some alcohol there too, including the customary champagne, but likely the local adults will be trying to keep things down to small champagne samples; Phoenix prefers to respect his original world's drinking age, after all.
And, as they near midnight, the intention is to try to countdown to January 2nd as if it's the new year countdown!]

[ And she starts crying. ]
Being a lawyer sure is tough!
no subject
[He didn't realize he hit such a sore spot. He feels kind of bad now...]
no subject
[ She totally was! And she even wipes her tears away with the sleeves of her shirt. ]
Maybe you're the one who's crying!
no subject
Not really...but you're gonna be okay, right? Maybe I'll have to talk with Nick if he's making you cry over toilet-cleaning duties! That's just messed up!
[He's kind of amazed Phoenix put a girl through a chore like that. Let alone a lawyer who probably has way more important work to be doing.]
no subject
Please don't! I don't want him to think I'm complaining about work!
[ But Athena, you complain about work in front of Phoenix as it is... ]
no subject
[Apparently he's decided to have standards about things he doesn't know anything about. But he figures since Athena's a lawyer she should like the work?]
no subject
[ And she's waving her hands around like MR. LARRY PLEASE DON'T MAKE STUFF UP TO TELL MY BOSS!! ]
I love my job! The, uh, lawyer stuff, anyway.
no subject
[He's a little confused by Athena's sudden bout of jazz hands but you know what Athena, you do you.]
You'll have to tell me about your crazy courtroom cases sometime!
no subject
I'll beat all the crazy stories Mr. Wright has told you, for sure!
[ ???
It's not a storytelling competition, though. ]
no subject
That's a high level of crazy to beat, y'know. Like, I've been in some of his craziest ones, so I know what's up. [He wasn't the reason they were crazy though...! Honest!!] Still, I look forward to it!
no subject
[ Wait, Athena, that's a bad thing to admit. She feels the need to one-up Larry, too. (But Larry probably would still win... smh, what a troublemaker.)
She does pause to do some recollecting. What story would be good to tell?
AH, here's one. ]
I bet you never heard of boss defending an orca!
no subject
[For a moment, he fears she might actually beat him in the being-involved-in-a-crazy-case contest. Since when did it get flipped around like this??
EITHER WAY, he...well, he looks surprised for certain, but at the same time not surprised. And Athena will quickly find out why.]
You're kidding- he actually did that? I thought he couldn't get any weirder after cross-examining a parrot!
[Of course that had to be one of the cases he was involved in...this is gonna be tough.]
Is that the one you were in??
no subject
[ She's only surprised for like... five seconds. Because she remembers that parrots can talk. ORCA'S CAN'T. ]
Well it's no wonder our client went to Mr. Wright! He's actually an animal whisperer! [ YES THAT'S TOTALLY WHAT YOU SHOULD MAKE OUT OF THIS, ATHENA. ]
And no! But he did cross-examine a robot in the case that I was part of.
[ This is it. Phoenix Wright's history. This is why her boss is famous. Because he cross-examines the weirdest shit. ]
no subject
[He's definitely going to ask Phoenix about that later.]
Huh, so animal-whispering and robot-whispering...
[Wait a second, robots?]
He actually managed to cross-examine a robot? How? I figured he'd crumble in the face of tech like that. ...Actually, since when did California get that high tech??
[He obviously hasn't seen Widget yet either if he's just now noticing the tech differences.]
no subject
[ The only praise Phoenix will ever get from this girl.
It's true, though. Athena thinks Phoenix is some kind of dinosaur when it comes to tech; he's even asked her to go online for various research because he can't do it himself. ]
no subject
[...
When he realizes what he's said, he leans close enough to whisper to Athena.]
Don't tell your boss I said he was awesome though, 'kay? His ego is bad enough!
[It's a best friends thing, apparently.]
no subject
You got it! It'll be a secret between the two of us.
[ Three, if you include Widget. But thank god he isn't talking. ]
