Should Oldbag Acquaintence Be Forgot

What: It's never too late for a new years party, except when it is.

[A new years party had been in the works for a while now. But the incidents with the Santa attacks plus time suddenly skipping ahead to January 1st had caught everyone off-guard. But Phoenix was convinced to go ahead with the party anyway. It's one way to help keep spirits high after what had happened the night before.

Invitations were dispersed amongst the group of people from their world (except for a certain elderly murderer, sorry Von Karma) and the friends they've made in Cerealia (and everyone is open to invite other people as well). Everything's happening at Phoenix and Trucy's apartment, which has some simple New Years banners set up alongside some surviving Christmas decorations. The Christmas tree is still up too, just in case... but all of the decorations and ornaments featuring Santa and his reindeer have already been destroyed.

Entertainment includes a karaoke machine which plays music normally when people aren't using it, and an assortment of food is set up, with people being free to have brought their own dishes and snacks. There is some alcohol there too, including the customary champagne, but likely the local adults will be trying to keep things down to small champagne samples; Phoenix prefers to respect his original world's drinking age, after all.

And, as they near midnight, the intention is to try to countdown to January 2nd as if it's the new year countdown!]

[ It's not a topic Leia particularly wants to talk about either. She's spent most of the day thinking about it all and writing about it, and really, that'd been enough for her. She's got to save some of her energy for fun. ]

Any juicy stories I can find, really. Until we get some more help, I'm going to try to do a bit of everything. That means interviews, and even photographs, too.

That's what my boss makes me do when we don't have any legal work to attend to.

[ Legal work... oh yeah. Her laughter starts to fade, leaving behind a thoughtful smile. ]

Sometimes I forget you're a lawyer.

[ What!! Clearly, Athena has to remedy this. ]

I think I should present my badge to you more often, then.

[ It's understandable to forget that she's a lawyer, though. There really isn't much lawyering to do in this place, after all. ]

[ Leia nods! She would not mind that at all. She loves how Athena gets so enthusiastic about it. ]

It's so shiny and small. I think I'd be afraid to lose it.

...But I guess you haven't used it much lately.

You're right. [ It's so embarrassing to admit. A lawyer who doesn't do lawyering? For shame. ] I wear it when I work at the cafe, or at the medical facility, though. I can't go out without it.

[ She can't be without her notebooks and pens, similarly--even if she doesn't end up doing any writing. ]

His name's Jude! They keep him pretty busy though, I think.

When we were little, I worked at his dad's clinic. We go a long way back.
