CLOSED. | aye gurl lemme whisper in your ear
Who: the big bad wolf (
glassy) & the little girl in red (
undaunts)
When: when indeed
Where: ceres game center
What: cinder acting like a predator towards ruby as per usual... my, what a big scythe-gun you have
Rating/Warning: none
[ there's a lingering resentment cinder holds towards ceres and the idea of "vivid". she had heard from mercury that this was the most efficient method of acquiring money, more so than the job they were assigned to; and while money was necessary, she was not playing it today with that purpose in mind.
after the "christmas" event, cinder has learned not to underestimate even the most innocuous or comical of fighters. while cinder has always been aware of this fact, she now lived in a world where different powers congregated and that meant keeping her own hidden away from the students of beacon would become increasingly difficult. for many reasons, she needed to keep her abilities a secret.
holding the helmet in her hand, she weighs the advantages and disadvantages of relying on this game. while it was no different to simulated fights in a classroom, cinder had to consider how well it could disguise the true nature of her fighting prowess. but then, like a sign above, she notices another person approach her.
her favorite person. ]
We really should stop meeting like this.
[ it's almost startling how often they bump into each other and despite cinder's initial wariness, her mood is greatly uplifted by ruby's presence. who, out of everyone else, was more suited to cinder's experiment than the one girl who's ever seen her in a fight and gotten away unscathed each time? (you know, minus a glynda.) how better else could she learn to disguise her powers than in the face of the one person who threatens to expose her without realizing? it was a risk but cinder was absolutely confident she'd manage to succeed. ]
I don't suppose you've played this already?

Except that now Ruby thinks that maybe she hurt Cinder's feelings a little bit??? So she's quick to shake her head, taking the helmet.]
Let's play it together! The one you picked is fine--I'm sure it'll be great!
[It'll be swampy.
So that'll be fun.]

watch our next log be "swamp mayhem 2: the swamp came back." ]
If you insist.
[ turning back to the screen, cinder rakes a hand through her hair glamorously like she's in a shampoo commercial before placing the helmet on her head. she looks to ruby to see if she's done the same, though, in actuality it's more likely so she can ask: ]
Well, how do we start?
[ out of touch and out of the times... ]
no subject
Which she's not.
Hitting the necessary buttons aaaaand--]
Here we go...!
[...and they're dropped in a swamp. Thankfully, Ruby lands on her feet, though she makes a face as her boots sink a few inches into the swampy ground.]
...Ewwwwww.

she travels a few steps forward before weapons drop from the sky. given that cinder had been configuring her character and selecting games before ruby showed up, meaning she gets dual blades. luckily, she didn't go with the bow and arrows. cinder picks them up, wiping off the excess swamp goop.
cinder checks to make sure ruby is also equipped because while she plans on fighting, she doesn't plan on fighting much. ]
Did you manage to bring your usual weapon with you? [ it'd be sad if she didn't. cinder would have appreciated the chance to check up on that too. ]
no subject
She smiles in response.]
I've got it! [As if she'd ever leave Crescent Rose behind!!!] Do you think there will be a lot of monsters here? I didn't get to read the description of the level.
no subject
[ as soon as she says that, they're greeted with what looks to be a gigantic rat monster. unless this is actually a sewer game, cinder can't fully understand why exactly they're fighting one of these things in a swamp environment. but she looks towards ruby as if she's to blame for its sudden appearance.
you had to ask, didn't you, ruby? and to respect the budding theme of transparent fairy tale references. ]
Have I ever mentioned that I really hate rodents?
no subject
But either way, she tilts her head at the gigantic rat monster. Wow, Cinder, calm your rodent prejudice!!!]
It's not so bad, right? Like, this one is kind of ugly, but some rodents can be really cute!
[These are things she says even as she readies her weapon, because it's pretty clear that rat monster is sniffing them out and heading their way.]
no subject
between the two of them, the rodent poses no threat so cinder doesn't mind wasting some time paling it up with her bff ruby. and by paling it up, i mean, attempting to fuck with her on a psychological level with varying results. ]
The monsters almost reminds me of Grimm. Kind of makes a girl a little... homesick. [ the rat monster gets closer as it attempts to discern the smell of two pretty girls amongst disgusting swamp odors. ] Wouldn't you agree?
no subject
That said, though, Ruby definitely doesn't see anything off with Cinder's changed fighting style. It's all new to her.... so time to pal it up and continue to use good old-fashioned shounen obliviousness and spark to ignore that fucking with her head.]
Hm... I dunno! I mean, I'm definitely excited to go home.
[She shifts her scythe a little, keeping her eyes on the rat monster as it prowls their way.]
But there's a lot of interesting stuff and neat people here too! So I don't mind staying here to help them until everything is fixed for us to go back.
[What a pure, happy soul....]
Are you homesick?
no subject
cinder eyes her fastidiously. she remembers a lot about their previous two fight meaning if they get bored waiting for rat-senpai to notice them, ruby can always shoot it with her scythe. it was an interesting weapon, cinder considered. while all hunters designed (im)practical dualities with their weapons, its effectiveness in battle was another matter. ruby has, thus since, proven her formidable dexterity which motivates cinder to figure out what other details and secrets it might possess.
but in the meantime, the rat monster still seems distracted. the only sign of movements is the way its elongated claws splash in the murky waters. ]
Not really. But the time we spend here means graduation is further and further away. [ ruby's answer still interests her if only because she's incredulous. does ruby really believes in the cause here? anyway... ] Though since you're younger than the rest of us... [ especially her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ] I guess a few years doesn't matter all that much to you.
[ back to the other thing. ]
Do you really believe their intentions to be that noble, though? That they intend to send us back to our world?
[ because to them they aren't human. rude or otherwise. ]
