[So this is what it is like to have a job? Well, it isn't so bad. William could have probably chosen a job that provided more opportunities for immediate social advancement, but this place has it's perks too. When you're forced to help others with their research, it sharpens your skills as well. Already he's learned all sorts of small, but useful tidbits, such as how taxes work here and what trashy novels the middle aged women of the populace love. Well okay, he didn't actually want to know about the latter, but at least he's getting a feel for this culture.
This particular afternoon William's hard at work, doing some much needed shelving he's behind on. The questions from patrons have been non-stop and while he appreciates that people find him dependable, William really needs to finish up. Which isn't going to happen because someone is approaching him right now. Oh bother.]
Shopping district, Various Cafes, 1/15-1/18
[One of the benefits of having your butler arrive with you is that you can always be assured that he will brew your coffee just the way you like it. And Kevin hasn't failed William in that regard. Still, Kevin has his own job to attend to, so he cannot be around to fulfill William's need for caffeine 24/7. No matter how much he would like to try.
So it was that William had spent the last few days going to different coffee shops to try what they had, so that he could find the brew best suited to his needs. Granted, that didn't mean it was easy to choose. Half the places he went either made it too weak, or it tasted burned. Or at best passable. Which was better than awful, but why bother?
But, in any case one might see a young man visiting the different cafes, taking himself way too seriously.]
[Wildcard, 1/15-1/18]
[He's still exploring the city at this point, trying to find out what's where, as well as observe the people of this place. If he's going to live here, it won't due to remain ignorant of his surroundings. He's in a perfect state to be harassed or even just befriended. Though with William's luck, it will be the former.]
[OOC Note: I am perfectly fine with prose if that is what you prefer!]

So did you have any particular place in mind, or...
[He's managed to school himself into a mask of neutrality, one that is probably too obvious to Kevin. ]
In either case, it probably shouldn't involve any heavy fare, considering you just fed me.
no subject
Young master, a cake is hardly food.
[He leans forward, pretending secrecy:]
However, I believe I know the right place.
[It's Mister England's tea shop. Kevin even learned how to circumvent the prostitution neighborhood this time.]
no subject
[He's trying to be a responsible and mature adult right now. This won't last of course, not in the face of food. No never. But he has to try.]
But I shall leave it to your discretion.
[William won't ask any questions about how long it took Kevin to figure out how to navigate around all of that. Because he doesn't need to know.]
no subject
As soon as the car becomes emptier and quieter- have they passed the "entertainment zone"? - he sits by his charge's side and asks:]
Young master, about those files...
no subject
His thoughts come to a screeching halt at the question though. Well, time for honesty.]
Unfortunately Kevin, the conversation is going to be a bit one sided. They refused to give my file back.
no subject
HE CALLED... [He lowers his voice to a fretting whisper.] He called you Solomon, sir. Should I hunt him down?
[Not that he has any idea how to hunt down a computer.]
no subject
That is a bit... of a problem, isn't it?
[Granted, did it really matter here if people knew? William only withheld that bit of information in order to have some freedom to be his own self. But at the same time, did it really matter if they actually knew?]
No Kevin. Do not go after him. It is my problem and I shall deal with it. Besides, I do not see what he could do with such information.
no subject
The thought of young master being tampered with the sort of power that can see into humans' souls...I cannot bear it.
[A somewhat hypocritical statement for sure, but hey, at least he knows where it is coming from. Besides, angels are different.]
I do not see it either, but the demons certainly caused a terrible fuss when they found out.
[Which might boil down to Kevin wanting young master just for himself... ]
no subject
I am fine Kevin. As far as I know, there is nothing wrong with my soul.
[Nothing more than usual, but then again, William had never been one to worry about the state of his immortal soul.]
They cause a fuss over almost anything. And they are not here, so that makes it easier.
[Dantalion would probably wipe out half the city before William could force him to stop. Which wasn't something he wished to think on.]
no subject
Now he gives William an entirely different look. The one that says he knows his young master is not as pleased about his demons' absence as he pretends to be. My, has he just thought of those useless reprobates as young master's demons? Ugh. He ought to pray an entire rosary after that.
He crosses himself, holds William's hand and squeezes it.]
Knowing young master, you will be quite ready if they come.
[Though, to be fair, considering William's background, it's more a question of when than if. ]
no subject
And it galled him to realize that. More than anything. Because there wasn't a single thing he could do about it.]
I am sure I will be. I am going to put them all to work and give that idiot a piece of my mind when it happens.
[And say what he should have said. But, enough of that depressing nonsense.]
But let us get back to the original subject. Which is the files. Since mine is off the table, what did yours say? If you do not mind me asking of course.
[After all, maybe there was something there that Kevin wasn't comfortable with showing him. Which would suck, but that's what trust was about, wasn't it? Not just sharing the truth, but accepting that which wasn't meant to be shared.]
no subject
As much as he enjoys pretending CERES is safer than home, there are way too many unanswered questions for his comfort. And those files only make that obvious. Too many secrets, and they are all detrimental to his young master, whom he promised to trust.
And so, after some hesitation, he pulls his CereVice and shows him the file:]
Name: Uriel
Age: ?
Birthday: ?
Gender: Male
Height/Weight: 182 cm | ?
Occupation: Butler, Priest and Archangel
Note: Stole the identify of Kevin Cecil, lawyer.
no subject
He looks at Kevin's file quietly, looking at every bit of information, however sparse.]
I was thinking it would be something more incriminating.
[Because honestly, he's seen far worse from Kevin. Not just with his own eyes, but with Solomon's. Felt it with Solomon's own body.]
Does anyone here know what you really are?
no subject
A silver-clad ballerina, a magical firefighter and...huh, the third might come as a surprise. Incidentally, we are heading towards the establishment he works at. I believe we can expect decent tea, at least.
no subject
That is quite a list. And if so, are you sure we can trust any of these people?
no subject
The other two found out on their own.
[It is hard to make smiting look like something else entirely, okay...]
Though it would seem that neither of them is averse to what they have learned.
[Which is a little concerning as well. What sort of people are not at least a little startled about God's wrath?]
no subject
[Really considering what happened, why should they be afraid? Personally, William had been relieved once he knew the truth.
Though speaking of sharing information.]
I have been fairly honest with much of what's happened to me. Save for what you are and Solomon's soul.
[Can't tell anyone everything, but what he has blabbed about has been a relief.]
No one has taken anything amiss so far. Some of them might have experienced far stranger matters even. So, perhaps it is something you can relax about. At least a little bit.
no subject
Ah, I am glad you have been making friends that understand your situation, sir.
[His hands twitch a little, as if he wished to hold William a little harder, as if his charge could slip away at any second.]
Certainly this place has its fair amount of strange creatures. They do not disquiet me as much as the more usual kind.
[What if the reappearance of angels and demons is a matter of time?]
no subject
...I do not know if I would say they understand, but it is nice to talk about it. And to hear what they have to say.
[He isn't going to fight it if Kevin wishes to hold him closer right now. He knows that their arrival here has probably been just as unnerving for Kevin. In different ways. And while William would like to say he'll be okay, he also knows that anything can happen.]
It is nice, isn't it? None of them just teleport where ever they please or want to kill you for your soul.
[If he ever managed to go back home again and for whatever stupid reason decided to elect a king, he was going to make said king institute certain rules in hell. Fix the establishment. It would be good practice for when he became Prime Minister.]
no subject
How terrifying. The best he can do is pray to God, who has not talked to him in a long long time. Like most humans, Kevin can only hope He is listening.]
Honestly, those demons are unreliable at most. In this new era, I believe young master will find stronger allies soon enough.
[As the train stops at its destiny, he pulls back and holds William's hand.]
The tea house is just around the corner.
no subject
...I hope so. Or at the least, they had better have a lot of money.
[He takes Kevin's hand anyways though, choosing not to worry about companions long past. He can do that on his own time.]
But let us go.
