[And while the pair of them are moving the table she's also brainstorming for new ideas. It's risky, and she's not even sure where they might end up but she makes a decision by the time Yamato and Gabumon finish moving the table.]

I think I might have an idea. It's a crazy idea, and we might need to immediately jump into another fight but it could buy us some time.

[ The key to putting on a good act is to be so convincing that you even convince the people you're working alongside. The blood on Keiichi's leg isn't his, as unseemly as it seems, and when Yusuke makes his move, it's time for Keiichi to make his. His pursuers, distracted by the seemingly more dangerous opponent (and to be fair, by Keiichi's estimate, Yusuke could probably take a dozen Keiichis in a fight), turn around just in time for him to grab his club from the ground, turn on them, and kick the closest one squarely into the back with his "injured" leg, causing them to collide together just as the crowbar hits them. ]

I'm okay! They fell for it... now's our chance!

[ Seeing their numbers reduced to more even footing, the other NPCs realize they're outmatched. Their self-preservation kicks in, and they turn tail and run. The exit is now open... and also now in danger of becoming a choke point when everyone else realizes it, so they'd better hurry. ]

[it's not really anyone's fault here; stahn's not out to make anyone feel less useful. he's just so used to the pursuit of monsters and looking out for other people that he's just terrible at holding back.

he catches something about "yelling," but not all of what's being said. it's something that can probably be questioned later, if he remembers when all is said and done. his eyes manage to catch a second monster coming into the fray, but most of his focus stays on what's in front of him, shooting off a few more artes (loudly) before it finally collapses.

it wasn't nearly as difficult as it could have been; stahn figures the difficulty of the game is probably lower than usual because of the new arrival factor. once one beast has fallen, he'll turn to help out... only to see that it's already retreated.]

Are you okay? [stahn could probably go after it with little consequence, but he'd rather check on the other person still standing than go fight more.]

So, this really is just some virtual reality game? Even if that's the case... I'd still rather not hurt anybody.

[ Except for the NPCs he had to fight on his way out. He hurt a few of them. ]

[The double blow is enough to finish the monster off, and Yamato cheers at Greymon and Garurumon as it's defeated.] Good job!

[Then he catches Taichi's eye, and, reminded of their earlier conversation, his smile fades a little. It's hard to enjoy being a team again after that, no matter how well they fight together. So instead he just says quietly:]

In that case, I'm really glad I'm not playing their damn game. At least, not by their rules. I'd rather make my own, anyway.

[ well that's ... certainly a lot to take in. kakyoin steps around the squelchy remains of the body, wrinkling his nose as the stench starts permeating the air, but otherwise listens quietly to yusuke's description. it's -- certainly not anything he's familiar with. the things yusuke's describing, like immortality and 'eating people,' remind him a little too much of vampirism, of the enemy that he should be fighting against, and it earns a somewhat pensive frown. ]

[ it sounds cruel. but also, effective. he'd almost be a little jealous, if he didn't already have absolute faith in his and his companions' abilities. still, it earns a dry laugh as he scuffs some of the stray flecks of blood off his shoes onto the grass. ]

I think, if I weren't already dealing with some strange circumstances back home, I'd have a hard time believing everything you're saying now. It sounds like you and your friends must have been involved in something incredible.
