... No. The truth might hurt but I'm not going to let that scare me away from doing whatever must be done. I'm going to follow my way.
[There is resolve in the ways he says it, silently declaring that he means it far further than just what this game or colony might toss at him.]
no subject
...Truth, then.
[ And once he selects their path, their surroundings melt away into a maze of cabinets, a mess of winding walkways— Adolf steps in front of Vector, silently protective. ]
no subject
Taking a look at their surroundings, his gaze ends up lingering on the person in front of him. The way he keeps trying to protect him isn't lost on the redhead.]
...why did you choose truth as well?
no subject
This is just a game. It doesn't matter to me, either way.
[ That isn't quite the truth of it, and if anything, the truth to him has always been just as cruel as someone else's imposed sense of justice and utility; but it's useless to dwell on it here, where there's at least a thin level of obligation for him to make sure that the teenager sticking next to him stays safe.
He makes a motion for Vector to follow, using his limited powers to feel for any lifeforms nearby. ]
...It's just a choice that seemed less questionable than justice.
no subject
Taking a breath, Vector follows him, falling quickly in a pace that has him walking by his side at a one step interval of lagging behind. (Just enough to not get into his way if need be.)]
That reminds me, I don't think you ever told me your name.
no subject
But, well. It's an innocuous question, and as much as he wants to go the 'don't ask me things you don't have to know' route, he tosses it aside. For now. ]
Adolf Reinhardt. It won't do you much good to remember.
[ He stops, taps a section of floor with one foot, and then sidesteps. ] ...There's a trapdoor there, be careful.
no subject
Because I have a good feeling that I'll want to remember you-uh?
[Being warned, he of course stops and then triggers the trapdoor with the tips of his toes.] Wow! You really found one!
[Following along, he takes in their route, committing it to his memory while also keeping his eyes open for any hints for which direction they need to go.]
I'm Shingetsu. Rei Shingetsu, a first year at Heartland Academy in Heartland City. Well, or I was.
no subject
...Rei. [ He settles on going for the first name (familiar but inevitable for him), dodging another trapdoor and turning left at a fork in the path. If Vector looks to the right, he might spy a Cthulu doctor looking disappointed that the two didn't come his way. ] First year in high school?
[ Or middle school...? He glances at the kid, trying to gauge an age. Too young, is what he thinks. ]
no subject
I'm thirteen, if that's what you mean. Soon fourteen. [What else is important..?] I'm a duelist, but so far not a very good one. My best subject is- Oh! Wait a second!
[Tugging at Adolf's clothes, he points up to a little device that is attached to the ceiling.]
Do you see that? That's a sprinkler! I haven't seen one here up till now! Help me up!
no subject
Adolf is thinking about this to himself when he feels that tug on his sleeve, follows his gaze in the direction Vector is pointing. ]
A sprinkler. ...Fine, but don't set it off.
[ It's dangerous to get wet!!! There are better things to be doing than humoring Vector's curiosity, but the kid's humored Adolf this far with everything; it's equivalent trade.
He's surprisingly careful when he kneels in front of Vector to let him up on his back, really. ]
no subject
[His confidence sounds like the first half of a gag, but the nimble way he climbs upon Adolf's back and balances on his shoulders proves fate otherwise.]
There's something written here. It's- ew! [Wrinkling his nose, he wipes the drop of stale water from his face.] There was still water in it. Anyway, the letters are Uuddlrl Rbax. And a three'o clock. ...What?
[Why do those nonsense words give him a sense of deja vu?]
no subject
[ Forgive him, he's a little busy keeping you up, Vector. He glances up as much as he's able with the extra weight on his neck and shoulders, furrows nonexistent brows to try to digest this new information. ]
What is it. A clue?
[ Three o'clock...? This is all flying over his head. ]
no subject
Hehehe~ You almost sounded as fun as that other guy I met saying that! But yeah, I think it is! We should look either for something that has a combination relating to those numbers in some way, try to head east or check out the doors to the right while heading down this way, I think.
no subject
You're surprisingly resourceful.
[ Is that an insult...? In any case, it's an observation, and that's all he offers before he turns in the direction suggested: east. ]
It's looking like puzzles are your area of expertise. Steer me in a direction.
no subject
Tossing Adolf a look over his shoulder, he grins.]
My deck isn't the type that has any particularly strong fighters in it, so I learned how to rely on tactics and quick adaption instead. Do you like magic?
