Yeah, that holds true even if you learn more about this place... Honestly, the longer I've been here the more doesn't sit right with me.

[Naoki shakes his head.]

That sounds promising.

[obviously, the retort isn't geared towards naoki specifically, but the sentiment rings true. this sounds like it's just going to be nothing short of a mess that he wants nothing to do with.]

[Better he hear about it now than later, Naoki thinks-- he knows he was glad after the fact after he was told about this place and what it does.]

But, we've learned more things recently...

So maybe it'll be about time we finally find out more about what's really going on here. Then, we'll find our own way back. [If he hesitates over those words, it's barely noticeable, just for an instant, and for a personal reason.]

Our way back...

[he repeats, considering those words. maybe there's something founded in naoki's hesitation, though roxas doesn't really notice it. for him, it does raise a question, though.]

What if we don't have a place to go back to at all? [which can be taken broadly, and roxas knows it. but for him, it's the specific knowing that he doesn't even have a world of his own to go back to, even if he has worlds he knows and places he can probably take refuge in, just as he did before.]

[Pause. A few moments, dragging by, as he considers the question.]

...What about finding a different place you'd want to go?

[Naoki thinks about people who've died, what he'd do if any of his friends came here and asked him what they should do. Should they strive to return back to nothing? Where the promise of revival is a tenuous one, balanced in Naoki's own hands? He wouldn't know what to tell them, and struggles a bit here.]

[not that he hadn't considered that; there's a place he always wants to be, after all. but he didn't really consider it in this context, that maybe that place is really where he could go, if it came to that.]

Yeah. I guess there are a lot of people who could have a place like that, huh?

Mmhm. Who knows, you might meet people here you'll get close to... and you'd want to go to their world if you had the chance.

[A little distance comes into his eyes, but Naoki pushes himself from it. It's not something he can afford to think of yet. First, he has to get to his own world, and then... after that...]

I dunno. I guess it could be like that too...

[but for roxas, it's probably not the case. there's one specific world that he wants to go to more than all the others—if there was any place he'd like to be able to call home, it's that one.]

It probably doesn't matter right now, though. Not until we can even go there.

Yeah, that's for later, after we find a method to get home.

[Or restore worlds if they're really gone, something Naoki is still in deep, deep doubt about. Destroy a (already destroyed) world with Lucifer there? Not to mention the Great Will?]

Right now, it's hunting for a way out of here, yeah? [With minimal violence against (pretty much) useless NPCs--]

[well, at least they can both live in disbelief of something like that. the world he was last one may have possible been a bit unstable because of where it was located, to close to the realm of darkness, but the other worlds, ones in the realm of light and places like twilight town, that were very stable? he just can't see how they'd all be gone to the point where this is the last resort.

what kind of power could really do that so easily?]

Do you know how to get out of here? [he'll take naoki's word for it for the time being.]

Normally you can just log out-- but when I try today, it's just calling me a spineless quitter.

[Naoki rolls his eyes before he shakes his head.]

It'll either be like most times where we have to wait, or there might be some kind of boss level that we have to beat.

[coexistent]

If there's something we have to beat, then I want to find it, beat it, and get out of here.

[he's firm in that much. roxas is pretty done with ViViD right now—he wants to get back to figuring out the things that actually matter.]

[masakados]

Then, let's go down this way together. We can split up if there're different ways.

[Naoki gestures with a jab of his thumb, half-turning in the indicated direction.] I'm Naoki, by the way.

[coexistent]

Oh—right.

[he's not used to introducing himself to people. living in the shadows meant not doing that, so it takes him by surprise.]

I'm Roxas. [he'll say, after a moment.] It's nice to meet you.

[that's what he's supposed to say here, right? even if the circumstances are weird, it seems correct.]

[masakados]

[Naoki allows a grin then, looking back at him.]

Nice to meet you too.

[Weird circumstances and all. Eh, there've been weirder meetings. At least Roxas didn't lob a giant key at his head.]
