You get used to it after a while.

[Thanks to his prior experience with augmented reality, stretching his imagination a little more to embrace virtual reality of this level wasn't too difficult. The stimulus filter helps knock down some of the realism.]

Anyway, it's terrestrial. We're on the planet Tellus. But why do you ask? Is it that important?

[colonially]

I suppose you must...

[Get used to it. He'll work on that. Clearly this ViViD thing is an important part of life here with this craziness and everything he's heard about it.

At the next question, his expression turns faintly sheepish.]

I guess it's mostly curiosity. I was wondering if it was like home. Maybe some little bit of familiarity wouldn't be so bad. But

[rebelia]

I don't know about likening this place to your home, but I guess some familiarity isn't so bad.

[And the idea of small talk isn't so bad, either. First things first, IV reopens the door for them to empty back out into the hallway.]

Let's go. You can tell me about it while we're walking.

[colonially]

[A sheepish laugh, and Quatre will concede that idea.] I wouldn't want to compare it too much. There's way too much out of place and strange here already.

[But the blond is quick to fall into line, nodding in agreement. They can walk and talk. It seems like a good idea.]

There's not much to tell. I was born in the colonies, so I suppose in a way that's what I'm used to. But I've spent a lot of time on Earth as well. But those sorts of arrangements, colonies in orbit or terrestrial locations, it can change the politics of a place.

[rebelia]

[He didn't know what sort of direction the small talk would take, but IV actually finds this to be rather interesting. He glances over at Quatre. Perhaps comparing life between colonies might be helpful, after all.]

Can it? What's so different about where the colonies are located?

[colonially]

Balance of power. Back home, the colonies were dependent on Earth to begin with, and that unbalance of power carried through even after their circumstances changed. Different factions started appearing. But if this colony is the primary and only location, if the people who run it don't have some higher authority they answer to, it may be different.

[Probably is. But then, a tilt of his head, thoughtfully.] I wonder if any resistance has started to form here though... [Against this CERES. Hmm.]

[rebelia]

What, against CERES? I don't know about an official organization with a name, but there are people here who don't trust the higher ups. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a so-called resistance comprised of members with similar sentiments.

[colonially]

Mm. CERES is already sounding like the sort of organization that isn't exactly universally liked.

[In fact, Quatre is already not a fan. But that started from them telling him his world was destroyed and all they could save was him. It isn't right.]

I'm sorry. I'm sort of rambling. It's a lot to process. What've you found it like, living here?

[rebelia]

[IV supposes that it is a lot to process, although he'd been so fixated on a few details upon arrival that he hadn't thought of it that way. He slides his hands into his pant pockets.]

There's a routine. It goes quiet for a while, and then something big happens. In-between those events, it's just like living in a busy city.

[colonially]

Something big?

[Quatre echoes quietly.] What sort of something big?

[Something big and dangerous? But all right. A busy city. Quatre can understand that well enough, the rhythm of that sort of life.]

[rebelia]

[IV gestures around to their surroundings.]

This sort. If my experience is the norm, you should have wound up somewhere in the colony after that ridiculous presentation. You're not supposed to enter through ViViD.

If you want something outside of ViViD, there was a blizzard with malicious creatures shortly after I arrived.
