It's not really that confusing. It's just an application of the Second Magic.

I don't really like explaining, but okay. The Second Magic, otherwise known as Kaleidoscope is one of the few True Magics left in the world. Anyone who can use the Second Magic can, basically, travel through parallel worlds.
