[ it's a difficult question, given that rin's base skillset hasn't given him much insight into the inner workings of CERES. he's gathered information where he could, through those who have an easier time of it, but what he does know is scattered and difficult to string together.

rin continues to move forward, though he delays a step so that they're walking side-by-side. easier to have a conversation this way. ]

Nah. The only fighting we've done is through the ViViD battles - they told you about those, right? - and, well. Sometimes we get tossed into the virtual world and have to make our way out.

[ as sasuke likely just experienced. rin's reaction to the second question is more nuanced: he glances away, seemingly taking in the (bland) surroundings. ]

[None of it makes sense. Everything they should be doing, any sense of solidarity in a cause is missing here. If anything, so far, those he has encountered here have a distinct lack of purpose, as far as CERES would have them believe in one. And the lack of information, the lack of any real war is something that has Sasuke on alert regarding his supposed benefactors.

As Rin falls back in line with him (not accustomed to leading or is it something else?), Sasuke sets his own questions by the wayside and instead focuses on the new line Rin has thrown him.]

[ the truth is, rin doesn't know much about any of it. he'd heard about the explosion through the grapevine, but korra had been fine; he didn't yet have the connections for information to flow freely his way.

all the same, he doesn't want to admit that he knows little more than sasuke does. it's been a madhouse dealing with the flood and making sure makoto and haru didn't fade to dust on the wayside, but he should have been doing what sasuke is doing now. working all of this out.

it's unlike rin to get complacent. maybe there's a part of him that's still frightened that the nonsense about the flamines is real.
