It is, isn't it? But if you want people to do things for you, that sort of lie could be pretty useful in getting them to help, right?

[Proper motivation? Really he shouldn't be spilling all his suspicions and vaguely conspiratorial thoughts at a kid, and he summons up a smile.]

Either way it's hard to say why. [A pause.] I can help you look for them, certainly, but it's possible they aren't here. Or aren't here yet. But we can definitely try to find them.

[For a few moments, Takeru didn't say anything. Instead, he sunk his head into his shoulders before he gave a frown]

...But that it's still wrong. Even if they want us to do things for them, it means they're the bad guys! [A pause] But if they were lying, it also means that my friends are safe right?

But there is still a chance they might be! If me and Patamon are here, then they probably are! I really want to find Onii-cha- ...Yamato-kun! Ishida Yamato and Gabumon!

Well, there's a lot of other people I know too if you can't find him. [Oh boy, let's see how many people he can remember! As he whiped his other hand out, he started counting all of his friends!]

There's Yamagi Taichi-san, Yamagi Hikari-chan, Kido Jyou-san, Izumi Koshirou-san, Takenouchi Sora-san, and Tachikawa Mimi-san!

[Then Patamon said something too!] And don't forget their partner's too! There's Agumon, Tailmon, Gomamon, Tentomon, Biyomon, and Palmon too!

Of course! I'll explain as much as I can anyway. Even if I'm not exactly an expert, I've been here for a long while now.

[And then making sure he's got a hold of the kid's ankles, he sets himself beneath him, standing tall as he can so Dipper can brace himself and reach up.]

[ the thing about being a twin is you get lots of experience climbing on another persons shoulders, so he actually finds his footing pretty steady once he's on there. he reaches up behind him and unhooks his collar from the tree, and the branch snaps back up into place, free of his (albeit miniscule) weight. ]

[Komaeda reaches a hand up for Dipper to take so that the boy can be steady when he goes to move. He's impressed by the steady balance. Twin powers are definitely useful.]

Great. Here hold on and I'll... [Well, he'll crouch down. Okay. Stick the landing, Dipper. They can call this total success.]

[ dipper hands onto his hand a bit awkwardly, though he's is grateful for the extra measure of balance while he moves towards the ground. the last thing he needs is to fall now. even if he's no longer at risk for neck-breaking, he could still face-plant into the ground and get a nice bloody nose going.

but then they're close enough that dipper can hop off the guy's shoulders and land on the ground. ground! what a glorious place to be. ]

Hey! I actually made it. Kind of...wasn't expecting that to go so smoothly. [ he is genuinely surprised. ]

Neither was I, to be honest. [Komaeda admits with a smile that is probably far too cheerful for what he's saying.] With my luck, I was pretty certain at least one of us would wind up with a broken bone.

[At a minimum. But here they are. Dipper's got his feet on solid ground.

Komaeda is actually pretty impressed.] But I guess it was good luck this time. Are you all right then?

[ well that's comforting. dipper's glad he mentioned that after he got his feet on the ground again. ]

Maybe it was karma making up for the whole tree thing. [ seriously, that was the worst luck ever. ] All things considered? Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks.

[Karma is it? Komaeda blinks at the phrasing of that.] Does that happen to you too? Does your bad luck offset your good luck?

[He really hopes not. For this kid's sake. Komaeda wouldn't wish his 'talent' of luck on anyone, never mind some kid.]

I'm glad you're all right though.

...Actually, my bad luck seems to kind of...roll into other bad luck. Like a big bad luck streak.

[ and with how his day had started out? he's pretty genuinely surprised he didn't break his neck falling out of that tree. ]

I'm sorry to hear that.

[He says quite solemnly. He really is. Luck can be such a difficult thing, good or bad.]

Good to meet you, too. I mean, seriously. I'd still be stuck in that tree if you hadn't come along.

I'm just glad that even someone as useless as I am could turn out to be helpful after all.

[That's a successful day for Komaeda, and he'll happily take that.] But now that you're out of the tree, do you know where you're going?

Uhh... [ he glances around, half-expecting to see mabel appear out of nowhere, but seeing as how she doesn't... ]

My sister's apartment, I guess. But don't ask me where that is.

I can take you towards the residential district anyway.

[That'll get him closer, right? So that's almost helpful. Right?] Or what's left of it anyway.

Yeah, that wor - wait, what? 'What's left of it'?

[ that's mildly alarming. ]

That's right! There was something of a flood recently. A lot of the infrastructure was damaged pretty badly. But people have been rebuilding, so it's getting better.

[See? It's totally like a bright side.]

Wow. Must have been some flood.

[ seems like it would take something more like a hurricane to do that much damage. ]

Mm! It nearly wiped us all out!

[Way too blithe in tone and expression as he chatters on about this.] But the weather's been better since then anyway. For now.

That's a little ominous. Is extreme weather kind of a normal thing around here?
